Darkwing Duck. Who’s Faster Than Lightning in this Kickstarter Campaign to Please The Masses?

We all love Darkwing Duck, and the question is, will the love continue in the comic book front or animated? So far, the money is on the former….

Darkwing Duck Darkly Dawns the DuckNow on Kickstarter

While it’s tough to say if Disney will produce a new series featuring Darkwing Duck, fans can thankfully get to enjoy a blast of the past in the comic book front through Dynamite Comics latest Kickstarter effort! The last time he graced the screen was in the DuckTales reboot (2017). In “Beware the B.U.D.D.Y. System!” this hero is made-up. That is, he’s the star of a television show about a comic book hero. He’s not the same quack we know and we’re treated to a new origin story of sorts. It’s a novel way to reintroduce this hero, and I enjoyed it. Thankfully two more episodes were produced featuring this fowl getting his feet wet in the game of crime fighting, and they were good, but this isn’t the same Duck we knew before….

But for fans of the original, what’s being offered and also improved upon in the comic book department makes up for some fun reading. I suspect this publisher’s plan is to see if they have enough support so they can extend the licence for brand new material in 2025.

It’s More Than Funk with Muque’s Latest ‘desert’ Single

Muque’s latatest album features artwork from Give Me! Tomotaka, a character designer whose work is really world renonwned.

Muque Cartoon CoverJust how unique Japanese band muque (pronounced “muku”) is depends on whether you like hip hop funk or not. They have just released a new song, ‘desert,’ which brings more acoustic to tech, and if you like new wave, it’s a tune to listen on the radio–or digital airwaves as they’re broadcast today!

This four-piece band featuring members Asakura (vocals and guitar), Lenon (bass), takachi (track making and drums) and Kenichi (guitar) is a relatively young bang. They formed in 2022 and are based out of Fukuaka. Their sound is mostly arranged by takachi, who says he combines what he likes from American and British music into a crazy fusion.

Taking a Peek into Ghostbusters Frozen Empire’s Digital and Home Distribution Plans

Summer is almost here to justify the release of Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, which debuted back in March, and we got deets on what else is included.

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Steelbook
Steelbook Edition is to preorder on Amazon USA

For the movie review, please visit this link.

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire is now out on VOD, and fans don’t have to wait for any home video release for the bonus material. Although I can jump onto the digital bandwagon anytime, I’ll still hold out for the physical product because what’s teased (according to unofficial sources) sounds good.

The sizzle reel that’s been released makes me believe the look behind the scenes in making the ghosts come alive look good. It’s not like the early days of ILM where they had in Raiders of the Lost Ark, dolls with loose fabric attached to it and its put into a fishtank filled with water to make those strands appear to swim in the air. I seem to recall the same concept was used in the making of Poltergeist too, and the designs seem to share a common DNA.

Ghostbusters Behind the Scenes

The following videos are available to stream alongside the film and be included in the home video release:

  • Deleted & Extended Scenes
  • Easter Eggs Unleashed

  • Manifesting Garraka
  • New York, New Gear

From the Tabletop to Comic Book. Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time

The Elder Gods are preparing to descend upon Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time in this adaptation of the board game.

ARKHAM HORROR THE TERROR AT THE END OF TIME Comic Book Cover
Available for preorder at your local comic book store.

Release Date: August 7, 2024

Fans of the board game Arkham Horror can take delight in an adaptation that’s expanding the universe! Asmodee Entertainment and Dark Horse Comics have teamed up to present Arkham Horror: The Terror at the End of Time. It’s the first comic-based addition to Fantasy Flight Games product, and no previous knowledge is really required. If you’re a fan of H.P. Lovecraft, that’s all you need to recognise.

Two versions of the game exist. In the tabletop edition, players have to work together to stop multi-dimensional entities from arriving on Earth. There’s been three editions, and each are different in a bizarre way which mostly concerns the rules. The setting remains the same and as for the card game, that’s where the confusion begins! Some say it’s the same thing but in a trading card game format, but others argue there’s enough differences where it’s not. All they can agree on is that the end goal is the same. If all you want is the story, then the latter has a lot more expansion material. And to bring it all together, Eisner Award-nominated master of horror, Cullen Bunn (Harrow CountyThe Sixth Gun), will write the four-issue miniseries.
