Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. Full Trailer Drop and Analysis.

The Dial of Destiny can either mean the search for Stargate’s Dial Home Device, or just another instrument that can turn back time.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of DestinyIndiana Jones is back, and his latest quest concerns a mysterious Dial of Destiny. It’s tough to say if that’s an archaeological relic or some ancient alien tech, but I’m hoping for the former, since the fourth film wasn’t beloved by every fan.

Although the trailer does not hint at much, we see him remembering things from the past and perhaps putting more emphasis about missing those adventures on the high seas. His concern for present events doesn’t seem to matter. As for his future, it’s nice to know he’s there to either be involved in some mess concerning the Apollo 11 landing and the return of those famous astronauts. Perhaps it is about some conspiracy that NASA does not want in the public eye.

But for those who’ve followed the lore concerning the US Government giving (former Nazi) German scientists amnesty after World War II ended, the plot being advertised is no surprise at all. But as for how historically accurate this tale will depend on rocket engineer Wernher von Braun getting involved. Amusingly, he’s an accepted Disney spokesman; He appeared in the 1955 television special Man and the Moon to explain why humanity must reach for the stars. He’s worked at NASA and as for whether he’ll influence Voller (Mads Mikkelsen), also a former Nazi, to do covert things for him, nobody knows for sure. This character might be played by Thomas Kretschmann, the only other German actor listed in the early credit reveal.

Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon Finds Its Way to North America!

A world of adventure awaits you in Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon, the tale of a young girl determined to save her home in the deepest jungle of the rainforest.

Ainbo: Spirit of the AmazonRelease Date: Nov 29, 2022 by Shout! Factory
Movie review can be read here.

At long last, this holiday season, families and world travellers can play with Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon! This film embarked on quite the world tour since initially releasing to the Ukraine back in 2021, but after that, its subsequent releases was country to country, including a stint in Canada back in February of 2022, before finally arriving in Shout! Factory’s hands for a proper multi-release in theatres, home-video and VOD.

Based on a story by award-winning filmmaker José Zelada (Kayara, Searching for Hearts), Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon is an inspiring fantasy movie adventure of a young heroine and her thrilling journey to save the endangered Amazon rainforest, with or without the princess. Directed by Zelada and Richard Claus (The Little Vampire and The Thief Lord) with a Peruvian-Dutch co-production among Tunche Films (Lima) and Cool Beans (Amsterdam), Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon is a strikingly visual and colourful animated movie bolstered by vibrant storytelling, a strong young female lead character, fascinating folklores, and the relevant theme of deforestation and environmental conservation.

New Gods Yang Jian’s a Hit! So When Will It Arrive in America?

It’s tough to say New Gods Yang Jian will get a theatrical debut or if it’ll go to streaming.

New Gods Yang JianLight Chaser Animation has been busy and wasn’t resting during the pandemic. This studio released New Gods Yang Jian over the weekend, with terrific box office results. According to Variety, “New Gods Yang Jian earned 19.8 million (RMB134 million) on its debut between Friday and Sunday, according to data from consultancy Artisan Gateway.”

New Gods Yang Jian takes place in a different land, perhaps far away from where New Gods Nezha Reborn ends. My review can be read here. Instead of a completely historical story based on The Investiture of the Gods (Amazon USA link), this version takes place in a cyberpunk style world. The battle is not over. What Li Yunxiang (in Nezha Reborn) learns about his place in the universe is more than just a cycle of coincidences. His old enemies are hiding in newly reincarnated bodies, and the Dragon Clan is not ready to rest in peace.

Dungeons and Dragons. Will There Be Honor Among Thieves in this Reboot?

Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves takes place across the Forgotten Realms, and that means cameos and set pieces galore!

Dungeons and Dragons Honor Amongst ThievesWelcome to Dungeons and Dragons, where every misstep takes you to unknown dangers, hidden mysteries, and perhaps even a plot to overthrow the world of Greyhawk. The first version of this game used this setting created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson when it was still being developed. But ownership changed over the decades since its inception.

Wizards of the Coast aka Hasbro now owns and manages the property once owned by TSR Games, and I hope the history will be acknowledged when Dungeons & Dragons Honor Among Thieves hits theatres early next year.

To not pay tribute to these roots will have fandom make a public outcry. Instead of Greyhawk, the realm is known as Forgotten Realms.

Dungeons & Dragons, at its core, are about adventuring and delving into worlds to which the storyteller, the Dungeon Master, reveals through improv, acting, and theatrics. Players will often respond in kind, and that’s why we enjoy watching twitch streams and YouTube broadcasts of celebrity talents playing the game. From Critical Role to Ready to Roll (our favourite and interview can be read here), the list doesn’t end there.

Quick Takes on The Black Adam Trailer Release

Dwayne Johnson’s transition from The Scorpion King to Black Adam is perfect to show just how powerful this warlord has become.

Black AdamDwayne Johnson‘s transition from The Scorpion King to Black Adam is perfect to show just how powerful this warlord has become. Technically, they’re not the same character, but I can see the similarities. Both vagabonds were determined to destroy, if not rule the world by the sword.

I’ve been eager for this release for a super long time. It doesn’t matter anymore if all the Egyptian references are stripped. The costuming proposes a similar type of world and I suspect there’ll still be some references to this Ancient world set in another planet far, far away. And as for who Adam sold his soul to (after his son’s sacrifice) for immortality, there’s no clues in this trailer. It definitely isn’t Anubis!

Krut: The Mythic Wings Puts the Legends and Lore of Southeast Asia on the Spotlight

Krut The Mythic Wings

Krut: The Mythic Wings is coming soon for gamers to take delight in! Not only is the artwork fantastic but also it takes inspiration from the legends and lore of Southeast Asia. To see the fusion of Indonesian, Cambodian and Thai beliefs (to name a few) makes up what I’m finding in this recently released trailer (see below).

There’s a lot to like if the trailer is any sign. Trying to identify the menagerie of creatures won’t be easy unless you know the legends, but they certainly demonstrate their ruthlessness in this hack-and-slash! Personally, I’m hoping the success will mean toys or a digital product line so I can have it grace my computer screen or wall.

This a side-scrolling platformer from publisher Blowfish Studios, developers GoodJob Multimedia and Pixel Perfex, and producer RSU Horizon. A century-long battle will be rekindled on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, as well as PC and Mac via Steam, on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, as revealed in Indie Live Expo.
