Undungeon is Laughing Machine’s Neat Sci-Fi Horror

After going through Undungeon’s very lengthy tutorial, I feel as though I’m only scratching the surface of this huge game.

UndungeonUndungeon is available on the Nintendo Switch and PS4, and I can see a lot of time is needed to finish this game. It’s very dialogue heavy, and when I thought I could play it on the go, I’d rather spend time with it like a cinematic experience than a random arcade game that it isn’t.

Here, I can’t help but be reminded of Ultima IV in the beginning moments of this game. Anyone who played this game won’t find anything new here. Like the classic game of yore, I had to answer questions that will define my character. This game by publisher tinyBuild and developer Laughing Machines has a lot of surface level design to like.

Here, the point of the game is to “Restore the order in all dimensions, influence and determine the fate of the worlds, create and decide what will happen in the new Multiverse.”

Is 3DRudder Rubbish for VR Users?

Available to purchase on Amazon 3DRudder

The 3dRudder is finally available for the PS4! It’s been available for a while for PC users, but when I’ve been virtual reality gaming on a console, I can’t think of any other uses other than to drive a tank instead of actually walking. Although I am still skeptical of using your feet (while seated) to emulate motion in an imaginary world, I feel the idea is not perfect in the long run.

It’s a shame navigating VR space for the home consumer is primitive. Go to CES, a military base or an arcade in South Asia, the likelihood of finding a hamster ball to walk around in for that illusion is better. Dedicated centres are not available worldwide. The better idea is to wait for holodecks which sadly won’t be coming anytime soon.

Even if not, there are countless other horror and monster themed games out there from the famous titles like Alone in the Dark and Ghosts & Goblins to the letter known indie thrillers such as Doki Doki Literature Club and Pony Island, there’s always something to play alone and in the dark.

Here are some games I would recommend checking out to get in the mood for thrills and chills. It has everything from lighthearted spooks to in your face jump scares!

Luigi's Mansion

Luigi’s Mansion

Luigi from Super Mario Bros searched for his missing brother, Mario, while clearing ghosts out of a haunted mansion with a vacuum cleaner-like ghost trapping device. The Luigi’s Mansion series by Nintendo began on Gamecube with both a remake and a sequel available for the Nintendo 3DS/2DS systems. Give it a shot to prepare yourself for the anticipated third game in the series coming soon to Nintendo Switch!

Heading West with Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption was created as a spiritual sequel to Red Dead Revolve.

I don’t always get into shows and games while they’re current. A perfect example is how I’m finally watching HBO’s Westworld. I remember how the original trailer really caught my interest, but in the never-ending flood of media the modern world provides, I didn’t actually start watching until a few weeks ago. It’s FANTASTIC. No spoilers here. Just go see it if you have any interest in westerns and the nature of reality.

I would have been perfectly happy with how it ended, but there is a second season in the works, due to arrive April 22nd. In the meantime, however, it did leave me in the mood for more entertainment in a western setting. Then I remembered a game that, like Westworld, was extremely popular and while I enjoyed it for a few hours when it was new, never seriously sat down and gave it the attention it deserved.

Red Dead Redemption (available for purchase on Amazon)3DRudder was created as a spiritual sequel to Red Dead Revolver (also on Amazon)3DRudder, a straightforward action game for the PlayStation 2, and was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010. It was developed by the legendary Rockstar Games who created many other world-famous titles over the years from the addictive Lemmings to the industry changing Grand Theft Auto series. Not directly tied to its predecessor other than its name, Redemption took much more inspiration from the scale and open world of the Grand Theft Auto games and shares many of the same conventions.
