Neverjam’s Spiderheck is All Out Crazy Fun!

Neverjam’s Spiderheck lets you become a wall-crawler to bash other ones to death!

SpiderheckAvailable on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Steam beginning Oct 22, 2022

Just how often do players get to play a spider in a video game? It’s like what the Spiderheck! All I remember are those retro games of yore–Black Widow and Spiders. As for the newer products, players are out to squash the eight-legged terrors than be one. Thankfully, Neverjam’s game lets you become a wall-crawler to bash other ones with random sci-fi tech! It’s fast paced and crazy fun.

A bit of ambidextrous skill is required because the left stick moves your digital avatar and the right to swing the baton (or aim). I got the Nintendo Switch version to enjoy. Unfortunately, it took an hour for me to get used to the interface, and I didn’t realise the X button was the shoot button. But, in order to play (even locally), gamers have to be a member of PlayStation Network, Xbox Live or Nintendo Network so those services can sync battles across the ‘net.

Yars Recharged. Atari’s Latest Update is Awesome!

Because there’s no save point in Yars Recharged, players will have to invest a lot of time into progressing deep into the hive.

Yar's RevengeAvailable on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Playstation and Xbox

Adamvision Studios must love bugs. Their early Atari Recharged games was all about either squashing them or being one. The latest, Yars Recharged, offers a modern take of the classic Yars Revenge game for the Atari 2600 and it works very well with the modern controller.

Those devices were simpler back then. The joystick was all players had to control their avatars, and the little insect warrior only had one task–nibble away at the enemy defenses. The navigation is far more intuitive in this update, since one stick flies Yar around and the other positions where he spits. Unlike Asteroids, getting used to controls took no time at all to master.

SEGA’s Radiant Silvergun Stalled, but Will Rail On Soon on the Nintendo Switch

One Sega Saturn’s most popular game is Radiant Silvergun, and it’s been reimagined for the Nintendo Switch!

Radiant SilvergunOne of the best SEGA Saturn games of yesteryears was Radiant Silvergun, and it’s been updated for the Nintendo Switch! Fans of this Japanese shooter also have a chance to try this game out at the 2022 Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall Happinet Booth: Hall 3-N03 this weekend, when the event is open to the public.

This update is currently available in certain territories, and it should re-emerge in the North American eStore when a few nagging bugs get squashed. That is, Nintendolife reported this release was pulled hours after for undisclosed reasons, and they suspect it was due to sync issues. (Sept 21 update: turns out the problem was with the game rating, and it’s back at the eShop).

Once issues are resolved, players can start blasting away in this shoot ’em up. Players start with three primary weapons–a forward blaster, homing missiles and a spreader–and can upgrade them they have to face waves of different enemies. Advancing isn’t easy, as each foe has its own unique strategy, and players have to adapt.
