Sonic 2 Gets a New Poster, IGN Fan Fest & Beyond

There’s a lot of material to announce, and information to sate fandom. No single event, be it real or virtual, can cover it all.

Plese check the schedule for online event listing.

While part of the fandom in the Pacific Northwest will be be at Fan Expo Vancouver, other folks ’round the world can enjoy IGN Fan Fest. This online only event is set to highlight the best of what’s to come soon in the world of movies, television and gaming.

There’s a lot of material to announce and new information to update fandom. No single event, be it real or virtual, can cover it all, and those able to follow along to both get the best of both worlds. But while I’ll be at Fan Expo Vancouver, this tease also includes what’s next for the Hedgehog Speedster (pictured) with this latest version. I fondly remember seeing the first film while in the big city, enjoying thie antics of this animal (movie review here) on the big screen on an evening after the convention. Time flies, or has sped up since the pandemic, and instant fans of this rodent are glad this release is on track for its April 8th release.

Good News for Fan Expo Vancouver 2022

Superman and Lois

Runs: Feb 19 – 21, 2022

Fan Expo Vancouver will soon be upon us, and although there’s been adjustment to the guest lineup, this BC Family Day long weekend ought to be good. We’re going to see the two generations of superheroics get together! Not only are the cast of Superman and Lois here–Tyler Hoechlin (Clark Kent), Bitsie Tulloch (Lois Lane) and Ian Bohen (Mitch Anderson) will be with Jordan Elsass (Jonathan Kent) and Alexander Garfin (Jordan Kent)–but also we have a Smallville reunion of sorts! Tom Welling and Erica Durance are together again!

The latest health guidelines announced earlier this week revealed great news for those concerned. This show can run at full capacity. All that’s required for attendees is to show their vaccine card and wear face covering. Con crud can still be passed along, and that’s not an enjoyable sickness to go through.

The following lists in how to make the most of this show and what Terminal City offers comes from past guides. This includes an updated list of dining options for those wondering what to do in the city.

When to Expect More Night at the Museum

Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian review | Den of GeekAnyone who loves the premise behind the 20th Century Fox’s Night at the Museum most likely knows about the upcoming animated sequel by the new franchise owners, Disney. Development may have stalled. The original news was revealed in 2020, during the pandemic, and reports back then suggested a 2021 release.

Hopefully plans have not been shelved. When considering other franchise properties recently released, namely Home Sweet Home Alone and Ice Age: Adventures of Buck Wild, hope is alive again, and it may show up later this year.

In the trilogy of live-action films, the Golden Tablet of Pharaoh Ahkmenrah is the raison d’être behind why many animals and statues came to life. Instead of dealing with a threat we’re all familiar with, the tentatively titled Kahmunrah Rises Again shifts the story to Nick Daley and how he’s going to continue in his father’s legacy of being a night custodian. Any other details are, pardoning the proverbial Ancient Egyptian pun, under wraps.

Ghostbusters Afterlife & Ultimate Set in Review

The difference between buying the individual releases of the Ghostbusters film on Blu-ray and the massive 4K box set is not just the cardboard.

Win GHOSTBUSTERS AFTERLIFE on Blu-ray - STARBURST Magazine

Bluray Available to Purchase on Amazon USA (all countries)
4K Ultimate Collection (limited to USA)

The difference between buying the individual releases of the Ghostbusters film on Blu-ray and the massive 4K box set is not just the cardboard. It’s a fairly big box that can be put on a display shelf, and as for the individually cardboard sleeved discs, perhaps moving them onto proper cases is better. Those can be placed on the video library shelf.

The collectable edition has a cool green-coloured light-up effect when you open the faux ghost trap to reveal the packages. The study cardboard construction can take some bruising, but I’ll be trying to keep mine as prestine (still with the plastic sleeve) as possible and dusting it more often than usual. The two bonus discs is the reason why long time fans are buying this edition over the single. I’m still going through them all (as time allows) and find reading the recreation of Don Shay’s Making Ghostbusters book from 1985 the big bonus.

The Four Best Trailer Drops from Superbowl Sunday

Is it even possible to identify which of the nine trailers released during Superbowl Sunday are the best? To slightly borrow from J.R.R. Tolkien, there would be one to rule them all, and everything else would fall under the category of second, third and fourth best. Yes, it means I’ll be tuning into Amazon Prime’s attempt to unseat Game of Thrones with Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The teaser is enough to get me excited. I presume WETA will aid in the special effects production since much of this series is filmed in New Zealand.

Because of the limited number of genre pieces released, I offer my top three films that truly whetted my appetite.

Where is Neil Gaiman’s Comic Book Norse Mythology at in 2022?

This tale sets up is the end of days. After Thor has to face a few trials much like Hercules, he and his pal later set sail to go fishing, and meet the Midgard Serpent

Sonic 2Dark Horse Comics
Spoiler Alert

Ragnorak is coming in Neil Gaiman’s adaptation of his novel Norse Mythology into comic book form. It’s up to series three and after the single issues are released, I’m sure all the past volumes will be bound into a large trade paperback–as this third and perhaps final volume may well be it. This issue is the first of three.

I’ve been patiently waiting for a complete version, but to curb my appetite for destruction, I’ve been picking up the digital releases. They’re wonderfully illustrated by P. Craig Russell. His covers are bound to be reprinted in the trade, while it’s uncertain if David Mack‘s elegant varient covers (pictured here) will.
