Kicking from the Hip with Kung Fu Kickball

KungFu Kickball Videos and Highlights - TwitchWhaleFood Games

Sorry, Carl. Everyone wants to do Kung Fu Kickball, because it’s likely to be fast and fought with expert timing!

This 2D sports platform retro-style fighter features many traditional characters playing ball. From Boxers to Monkey King to Panda and Sifu Masters (to name a few), the look is crazy, and concept engaging. It borrows from many kids anime, especially Dragonball, and how can anyone not want to, in the game, legally knock your opponent down? They’ll stand back up in due time, but in this game, it’s all about ringing the bell to score one for the team.

The music is fun, and the only downside with this game is that while up to four players are supported, there can only be two opposing teams. Even in solo mode, the AI is reasonable enough to let players progress and the game allows you to set the difficulty for the uninitiated.

The Lost City Teaser Trailer Drop

The Lost City Teaser Trailer Drop brings pulp action style romance and it’s no Jungle Cruise

The Lost City

Release Date:
March 25, 2022

Nothing can go wrong in a pulp action style romance flick starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt.

The Lost City shows a match made in heaven, and no, this movie is not about these talents getting together. Teasers have been out for a while, and after the big game–yes, that one concerning tossing a pigskin around–there should be a proper trailer release. This work is worth checking out since after the success of Jungle Cruise, I’m anxious for another adventure in the Amazon again! Both films have been fuelled by star power, and there’s something about Sandra to like.

The King’s Daughter Slippery Slope to Streaming

The King's Daughter (2022) - IMDbNow Available on Streaming Services & Still Playing Theatrically

The King’s Daughter is a soft fantasy with a lot of family drama concerning a young aristocratic woman from Versailles who wishes to be free. Marie-Josèphe (Kaya Scodelario) spent enough time in a convent, and that’s not her life. Her father, King Louis XIV (Pierce Brosnan), brings her home in a vein attempt to raise her instead of hunting for a mermaid (Fan Bingbing). It’s said eating the heart from this fantastic creature grants immortality, but I suspect it can also curse him, too. He won’t be the same. He never has since the death of his wife.

Marie was sent away before she even knew who her parents were and she discovers about her dad has her furious.

Futurama Revival and Where’s Johnny?

Whether the issue is over these talents being able to take on other jobs during production, it’s hard to say.

Futurama Wiki Guide - IGNThere won’t be much of a Futurama without all the original talents on board. The news that John DiMaggio isn’t likely to be on board has fans riled. This talent’s magic in breathing life to Bender is special. I can’t imagine anyone else being able to deliver the sass and crass that is the cigar-toking, alcoholic robot who can bend metal into paper aeroplanes. Billy West, Katey Sagal and John are the trio who can’t be split.

With no surprise, it’s all about the money. Deadline reported, “There is still a desire on both sides for him to return.”

Realistically, DiMaggio and Hulu are still negotiating. The reports came fast and furious after the announcement of the revival. Fans quickly responded on social media by saying they don’t want these new episodes unless John is there.

It’s Time for Tea Pets, A Nearly Forgotten Joy

This movie’s been renamed Toys and Pets for International audiences and the translation isn’t the best.

Light Chaser Animation Studios
Spoiler Alert

Tea Pets was a movie I had to watch during the last days of Chinese New Year and it’s one that’s not as well known. The animation house earned its cred with White Snake and its sequel, and it’s odd they would sell the rights of this early effort to a less than ideal international distributor.

These little clay figures trace back to 13th Century China and are used during tea ceremonies. These figurines bring good luck to those who affectionately play with them during tea time. All it takes is to pour some tasty liquid over them and they’ll come to life. The unkilned porous clay transforms the colours into another pigmentation, and it’s amazing to watch.

According to one online source, writer/director Gary Wang saw some for sale at in an antique store in Paris! It reminded him of home. Although I’ve never seen them at Murchie’s Tea & Coffee in Victoria, BC, or any Asian tea houses here in town, I had to wonder. I’d love to have a feline tea pet to keep me smiling on those grey days.

Just How Buck Wild is the New Ice Age Under Disney?

After five movies, it’s safe to assume most fans know the franchise well enough so that the intro isn’t needed. Disney didn’t want to bring Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Denis Leary back.

The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild.jpgEven under the auspices of Disney putting Blue Sky Studios to rest, the Ice Age continues. Instead of continuing in the adventures of Manny and Elle, the mammoths, Diego the sabre-tooth tiger, and Sid the sloth, the focus shifts to the supporting characters of Crash (Vincent Tong) and Eddie (Aaron Harris). These two nutty possums are part of the main cast’s extended family and are Elle’s brothers. A quarter of the film reacquaints viewers of how this unlikely pairing came to be, and while it’s nice to get that recap, the other reintroductions feel unneeded. They remind viewers of the crazy dysfunctional aspect of this group as a whole.
