Lotsa Products Coming for Godzilla vs Kong, Leading Up to & After!

Kaiju-Pow! The slow and steady rollout of Playmates line of Godzilla vs Kong toys have wave two set for Spring 2021 (according to Twitter) and as for whether I spotted them sitting on shelves too early is debatable.

Trolls on online forums will be just that, ruining my excitement of a late self discovery. I’ve seen the earlier wave of releases and they’re not as cool, When local governments say stay at home as much as possible, any find I make at a big box store for toys and household supply restocking is not meant to time with the release schedule of products for my hobbies.

With the movie finally headed to theatres and online in March, the products now available in stores are always exciting to examine. I missed my opportunities to purchase the light up Identity Discs from TRON Legacy. they were gone, faster than I thought, but this time I’m on the ball.

The Vintage Tempest’s Open Letter to Santa & Thoughts for the New Year

23 Dec

By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

Dear Santa,

Yes I know this letter is late, very very late, and I hope I can still get a surprise come Christmas day.

Before I take a break from this blog for a much needed R&R, I have to write to someone about all thats transpired in the past year. It’s been tough because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some folks have changed their behaviours and others have gone into hiding until authorities say it’s safe to resume a different kind of normal.

I’m surviving and consider this season a time of hope. Yes, you’ve heard all this goodwill ambassador stuff before but I feel the world really needs it as we go into this new decade. 2021 won’t feel too different. With a tentative vaccine not everyone will want, I’m debating it. I miss my comic book conventions. I’m glad to have taken on all of Fan Expo Vancouver before the lockdown, and if any shows take place at the end of the new year, I believe it’ll be one of trepidation. I’ll sound off on this in a different editorial though.

[Unboxing] Magic the Gathering, Godzilla, Ikoria & This Franchise’s Future…

MTG Booster Box (36ct) Ikoria Lair of Behemoths (IKO) — Twenty ...By Ed Sum
(The Vintage Tempest)

Not every set of Magic the Gathering is worth playing. My interest lays less on being devoted to this hobby of CCGs and more on where the narrative is headed. The story-based focus has been at the forefront for years now, and I can thankfully ditch the expensive side of the hobby and simply enjoy the tale.

After War of the Spark, the story concerning the desert gods from Amonkhet came full circle (died) and lest Hazoret returns, I’m biding my time to see what the next expansions offer.

When I heard about a partnership with TOHO Studios, my interest peaked at what’s going to happen. Planeswalkers Vivien ReidLukka and Narset will no doubt be important. Plus, you can never go wrong with giant monsters! Ikoria fulfills my fondest desires with the trample mechanic. The two recent additions–mutate and companion–might break standard play, but I’ll rely on reports than experiment to find out myself. For now, I can also go full on Kaiju with alternate art cards in my play deck on those kitchen table games with my buddies.

As my unboxing video shows, I got extremely lucky with pulling not one but two of the few most talked about cards.

Tons of plans are in store prior to the November 20, 2020, release of Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. PicturesGodzilla vs. Kong!

Legendary and Toho Co. Ltd. announced a huge slate of licensees that will deliver a diverse offering of merchandise and experiences to fans as they gear up to see two of cinema’s biggest icons battle it out on the big screen. International toy titan Playmates has been named master toy partner, with forthcoming products themed to Godzilla vs. Kong, as well as additional product lines inspired by the Monsterverse and Classic Toho Monsters.

In what I hope for, if Diamond’s Previews catalogue is any indication, is collecting more than just display pieces of super-deformed versions of the monsters. Plush Kong? Perhaps not, but in what we know so far is the following, and my thoughts:
