Just what can go wrong in Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong presented are the plot holes and skips trying to bring the DC Universe into the foray of one radioactive beast’s sight!

After a long wait, I can finally say reading Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong in its collected edtion is better than collecting the individual issues. As a seven issue comic book miniseries, waiting for the next chapter wasn’t my cup of tea. But with this collected release, the tale Brian Buccellato crafted makes more sense.

The idea to pit superheroes with kaijus and a mighty ape is really nothing new when I know about the Showa era films; Gojira fought them all, which includes King Caesar, a different furry beast, and Jet Jaguar, who was a superhero of sorts. However, the stakes aren’t quite the same in this comic book Elseworld where Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and et al. meet the King of the Monsters and realise they can’t take him out.

Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong. A Deadly Showdown to Keep The Monsterverse Warner.

It’s tough not to be reminded of when Godzilla faced The Avengers way back when while reading Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong.

Five issues into Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong, what’s presented in the multiverse crossover is epic in scope and it won’t be a game changer since it’s more of a story developed to keep interest in the Monsterverse alive. The wait for Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is only two months away, but after seeing Godzilla Minus One, I think I’ve been spoiled. The stakes aren’t quite the same in this comic book world.

With this series, I’m caring more about what the beast represents and unless I’m a long time fan of the Justice League comics, I’m not as invested into this particular world. Also, I imagine the “Death” of Superman (again) is hardly a shock. After his fall, it’s up to the Justice League to figure out why a Pacific Rim type rift has formed to invite the Monsterverse in.

The revelations that’s offered in this issue offers a valid reason for why this mighty beast is what he is. He’s out to restore balance to the world by eliminating threats that can endanger it. I had to chuckle because he’s essentially Lex Luthor in a giant green suit. Both charater’s animosity for Kal-el is natural.

When Godzilla Minus One Recreates The Fear, Fans Can Cheer at this Proper Reset of a Beloved Icon!

Here, Gojira and Godzilla will be used synonymously to explore his appeal world-wide, and Godzilla Minus One shows how The East is dealing with the West(ern) threat.

A primer is needed to help describe where Godzilla Minus One fits in the lore. Technically, not all of TOHO‘s Gojira films belong in one long continuity. Fans know his longevity is due to how he is represented over the nearly seven decades.

Throughout the Shōwa era (1954–75), he eventually became a hero who often saved Japan from other kaiju and alien invaders. During the Heisei period (1984–95), he was an anti-hero. In the Millennium (1999–2004) years, I saw the beast as neither friend nor foe (each film was standalone, save for Against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo SOS). The Reiwa era (2016–present) recognises how this terror is simply a force of nature. Although this studio’s animated trilogy (2017-18) is its own universe, I think they fit under the same umbrella.

Just where this Japanese studio’s latest belongs is somewhere with the first movie and Shin Godzilla. Not only do long-time fans hear Akira Ifukube’s signature score, which really defines the monster’s presence, but also we see nothing has changed in Gojira’s design. Aside from larger dorsal fins and how they activate when he’s ready to breathe fire, the outline can not be altered by much.

Look Out! Chibi Godzilla Raids Again on YouTube!

Following the hit YouTube series Chibi Godzilla comes Chibi Godzilla Raids Again and he’s adorable!

Chibi Godzilla Raids Again Promotional PosterHere comes Godzilla, and he has a son. No, we’re not talking about Minya, but he might as well be the star in the short form series that’s freely available on YouTube. Chibi Godzilla Raids Again is a sequel of the other series released two years ago, and what’s different is that it’s set on Monster Island and instead of the short 30 seconds the prior series had, it’s roughly 2 minutes (minus the title sequences).

The first episode is available to view (see below) and like the past work, it’s a humorous take on the situation these creatures face while living in a human world. With this newest series, he’s back on Monster Island, and as for where the humans are, they might appear later on. In the debut episode, whom Chibi G meets is technically a mechanised version of himself, and the tête-à-tête they have is more of a setup than anything else. What’s presented is mostly stand up comedy, manzai style, and I’m wondering what will happen next!

It’s hard to really judge from a single episode, but for viewers wanting to get back up to speed on what this series is about, it’s best to start from the beginning.

From one monster bash to another, Godzilla Day is nearly here, and he’ll be 68 years old! Everyone can join in the fun world-wide and as for how we’ll be celebrating this event in Canada (Victoria, BC to be specific), we have combed through the lists to find what is appropriate. Even though the big are Japan and USA, that’s okay.

The real exclusives will be found at Kinokuniya Book Stores online store, and for those buying shirts, please bear in mind the metric system is much smaller than American. Best to buy two sizes up to be safe.

As for elsewhere, thankfully there are a few streaming options to make the thrill possible. We present a list of what to watch, read or play with!

Gojira has evolved with the times. Previous treatments during specific decades saw him as either a metaphor of systematic destruction, humanity’s relationship with nature, or simply be a reluctant hero. Ever since his introduction in 1954, the story direction had no definitive bible for future filmmakers to consult or even abide by. That eventually changed circa 1984 with Return of Godzilla (known as the Heisei era) where each film interconnects and again 1999 (Millennium). The ideas being offered per movie didn’t always pan out and the latest, starting with Shin Godzilla (2016) is getting way out there. 

The series Godzilla: Singular Point depicts him as absolutely primordial. He is on an evolutionary path to destruction and rebirth. From a giant sea wurm to a dinosaur, he’s not to be reckoned with. Instead of a relic of a prehistoric age, he’s now a nexus point where all things (not necessarily human life) begin and end.
