2026 Update. Casey Walker Interview: Home Bodies, Ithaqua and Worlds Beyond the Door.

In this Casey Walker interview, the filmmaker talks about expanding Home Bodies beyond its original script, working with Ian and Emma Ho, and finally bringing Ithaqua to audiences after 14 years.

Casey Walker InterviewIn this Casey Walker interview. we get to talk to him about more than what’s changed for him after a decade of producing and getting back to the director’s chair. This filmmaker reflects on why he never stopped producing genre flicks in between regular work for television. That’s because that’s what he loves. Ever since his debut film, A Little Bit Zombie, he’s carved out a niche that is uniquely his.

When asked about how does he do it, his answer is simply, “I just focus on making something that I’m going to be really happy with because I never know when I’m not going to be able to ever do it again.”

It shows in works he’s executive produced too, like The Void, where he helped shape someone else’s vision. He’ll support and guide when needed, but when he’s in the captain’s chair, there’s a lot more to be aware of.

When comparing his past work in television and independent film to what he’s making now, he noted, “There’s definitely a bit of horror in everything I do. As for comedy, I think they’re very interlinked. I love the levity that comes with it, so it’s like the scary stuff and the relief through the humour has always attracted me to the things I’ve made. So yeah, they’re kind of synonymous.” Continue reading “2026 Update. Casey Walker Interview: Home Bodies, Ithaqua and Worlds Beyond the Door.”

The Cybertronic Spree Next Show
Next show in Toronto!

August 22, 2026
Capital Ballroom, Victoria, BC
Spoiler Alert

When I had the good fortune to be invited to see The Cybertronic Spree for free, I knew I was in for an awesome night of nostalgia and heavy metal, backed by animated sequences celebrating anime, video games and The Transformers: The Movie. For newcomers, they’re a Toronto rock band whose sentai-style costumes, hard-rock covers, original songs and glam-rock theatrics make their stage personas larger than life. I’d seen their YouTube videos and followed their rise as a pop-culture band. Once I learned their latest P.R.O.M. tour, short for Programmable Read-Only Memories, used a playful rock-opera narrative to stitch the concert together, I knew it was time to see them live.

Everything You Want To Know About Ghost Month 2026 But Were Terrified Too Ask….

… gets answered here! And we got a look into what’s coming in the future too! If the offerings this year look pale in comparison (pardoning the pun), then at least Ghost Month 2026 has one banger worth examining.

Ghost Month 2026As Ghost Month 2026 is in full swing and some people are observing this tradition every which way, it seems the media side is light this year. But all is not lost for those daring to pierce the veil (or travel to that country) to seek them out! Usually that’s a bad thing, but for those couch paranormal enthusiasts and investigators, that’s the only way to keep going in terms of tracking what comes out around this time of year! As for the actual Hungry Ghost Festival itself, that falls on August 27, 2026,

The month itself is approaching the end of the first week. It began August 13 and will last till September 10, 2026. And in Malaysia, the film to keep an eye out on, assuming it gets international distribution is Da Shi Ye: Seventh Month Getai《大士爺:七月歌台》, which is produced by D Channel.

The story uses getai performances, Seventh Month taboos, folk legends and the worship of Da Shi Ye, the guardian deity overseeing wandering spirits during the festival. Director JeRR PS Rion said roughly 90 per cent of the film takes place around a specially constructed getai stage, and the production includes original getai songs rather than merely using the festival as decorative wallpaper. It will open theatrically in October 2026. At the time of writing, no international distributor or streaming arrangement has been confirmed.

On the Cinematic Front….

This Old House (And Me) Ghost Month 2026 The Chinese folk-horror film 古村迷宅 is set for release on the fifteenth day of Ghost Month, deliberately on the day of the Zhongyuan Festival itself. With the date of August 27th set, let the gates of Hell open to unleash all kinds of spirits upon humanity, and yes, foot fetishes are included too! There’s no official title, but I like to call it This Old House (And Me).

Spoiler Alert

Bliss Beyond The Edge of Time is a colourful animated anthology that aims to deliver a powerful set of stories about the state of humanity. To paraphrase the official synopsis, the film draws inspiration from six of the I Ching’s 64 hexagrams, also known as the “Book of Changes.” It brings together six original animated shorts that are not simple at all. Here, memories can be erased, identities rewritten and fate re-engineered. The nature of humanity is well explored in context to work which functions as a tool for divination.

The six symbols explored are ䷗, ䷝, ䷑, ䷋, ䷘ and ䷣. Presented in that order, they can be interpreted as Return, Illumination or Fire, Decay, Stagnation, Innocence and The Darkening of the Light. With the last hexagram, not even the most dedicated can decipher what portent it brings if cast. At its heart, this glyph concerns protecting or concealing one’s inner light when faced with a hostile system. Within the context of science fiction, that idea can also extend to suppressed memories, forbidden knowledge and people hiding parts of themselves from systems that aren’t ready to accept them.
