Want More X-Men? Keith Sutliff has The Story of Scott Summers Ready to Roll…

As for keeping up with how the X-Men evolved throughout the decades, from Uncanny to X-Treme to Astonishing to ResurrXion, it’s just become impossible since they’re not meant to overlap. Ask anyone if they’ve kept up. Most will say no, including Sutliff.

The Cyclops Chronicles: The Story of Scott Summers is a passion project for Keith Sutliff. He’s an actor and filmmaker who loves the X-Men universe that currently has nothing live-action in development. This particular IP is vast, and his plan with this character is to explore what motivates this leader in new ways that respects the lore and also be original at the same time.

He started up his own company, KS Pictures LLC in 2016, and was quick to establish himself in Hollywood, appearing in works from the Lifetime Channel when not producing or acting in independent works himself. Some of his past works include The Mason Brothers (2017). From the Internet Movie Database, The Hollywood Weekly Magazine recognized him as an emerging talent, and his next work, The Refuge (2019), showed where he wanted to go in this career as an entertainer. Coming this Summer is Suitcase City for sci-fi fans, but for comic book readers, he’s hoping his take on the leader of the X-Men will be one to talk about.

Sutliff acknowledges what he’s producing, starring in and directing is a fan film. He said, “The number one thing going into the film business and in Hollywood is you have to entertain.” The gamble with his work is in him making it free to view on YouTube. He’s not sure how many episodes will be made, but has a game plan should it go beyond three.

Mantic Games Hellboy RPG Unboxing and Wonder

Mantic Games is still shipping the Hellboy RPG to Kickstarter backers for the past week and a half, and yes, I got my copy! This unboxing video reveals what’s inside and more….

Mantic Games is still shipping the Hellboy RPG to Kickstarter backers for the past week and a half, and yes, I got my copy! The following video is my reaction to examining this product in under ten minutes, and I can’t wait to GM a session! I have friends interested in playing and I’ll need a week or two to learn the rules. A followup article is under consideration so I can provide a more in-depth analysis after we played the game. Stay tuned!

Addendum:

I opted not to pick up the miniatures that came with the next tier of this Hellboy RPG Kickstarter and have no regrets. It looks like most of them can be obtained directly from the publisher as part of the board game expansion products. A street release may be coming later in the year. To keep tabs on when this will become available, please visit the official website for the latest updates.

Update: May 1, 2022: B.P.R.D. Field Manual is an optional upgrade that, while available for all pledge levels, was deceptive in the item description; I thought I’d get it as one of the unlocked stretch goals but only as a digital file. I thought a print version could come along with mine, but it isn’t. It’s for GMs so they can design a game.

I Don’t Like Mondays is Ready with Lotsa Feelgood Feelings with ‘Sora No Aosa Ni Miserarete’

This coming-of-age love song is a perfect way to kick off March break (in certain parts of the world)

Asia Spotlight: Japan's I Don't Like Mondays. on their artistic growth

Following the theme music, ‘Paint’ for the current season of hit anime series One Piece, Japanese four-piece rock band I Don’t Like Mondays. released a brand-new single ‘Sora no Aosa ni Miserarete’ on YouTube for fans to enjoy. This coming-of-age love song is a perfect way to kick off March break (in certain parts of the world), and it’s centered on the kinetic rock sound it inherits from their track used in the cartoon.

It poetically spotlights an innocent young man’s pure heart among the arrival of spring and the budding seeds of love. Another highlight is a chanted choral section in the middle that symbolizes the band’s hope that the day will come soon when the live music industry recovers to full health, and we can all sing together once more.

Kicking from the Hip with Kung Fu Kickball

KungFu Kickball Videos and Highlights - TwitchWhaleFood Games
Blowfish Studios

Sorry, Carl. Everyone wants to do Kung Fu Kickball, because it’s likely to be fast and fought with expert timing!

This 2D sports platform retro-style fighter features many traditional characters playing ball. From Boxers to Monkey King to Panda and Sifu Masters (to name a few), the look is crazy, and concept engaging. It borrows from many kids anime, especially Dragonball, and how can anyone not want to, in the game, legally knock your opponent down? They’ll stand back up in due time, but in this game, it’s all about ringing the bell to score one for the team.

The music is fun, and the only downside with this game is that while up to four players are supported, there can only be two opposing teams. Even in solo mode, the AI is reasonable enough to let players progress and the game allows you to set the difficulty for the uninitiated.

The Lost City Teaser Trailer Drop

The Lost City Teaser Trailer Drop brings pulp action style romance and it’s no Jungle Cruise

The Lost City

Release Date:
March 25, 2022

Nothing can go wrong in a pulp action style romance flick starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt.

The Lost City shows a match made in heaven, and no, this movie is not about these talents getting together. Teasers have been out for a while, and after the big game–yes, that one concerning tossing a pigskin around–there should be a proper trailer release. This work is worth checking out since after the success of Jungle Cruise, I’m anxious for another adventure in the Amazon again! Both films have been fuelled by star power, and there’s something about Sandra to like.

On Nintendo’s Switch, You’re a PopSlinger than a Breakout Singer

Life can’t be any cooler than PopSlinger, but just how far this arcade style musical shooter by Funky Can Creative goes depends on how good you are with a gun powered by soda.

Life can’t be any cooler than PopSlinger, but just how far this arcade style musical shooter by Funky Can Creative goes depends on how good you are with a gun powered by soda. Part of the design is wickedly inspired by 90s anime and its design celebrates this era with amusing nods to Blockbuster, Tower Records and K.B. Toys. The soundtrack is funky enough to enjoy, and it reacts to your in-game performance. This concept helps players stay invested.

Here, you play Ria Carbon who is out to save the world. The intruders from another dimension turn their victims into Corazones and it’s up to you to wash them down. They look like sludge creatures rather than space invaders, and perhaps the idea is in line with how they can be defeated, with soda! The weapons powered by carbon are a strange piece of tech to deploy, and in-game, the theory is that you’re melting your enemy down so they can wash down the sewer. When you have shot down enough of them, your spirit guide(s) are able to manifest to help! One of them is a former pop slinger who goes by the name of Gin and she’s perhaps the most helpful.

The Lost City

In another aspect, the 2D landscape is not as easy to travel around in. You can’t go backwards (which is a problem) or easily point the joystick in the direction you want to dodge enemy fire. They come at you straight or angled. Nailing the aliens isn’t easy as your weapon’s range is very short. You have to get close to nail the one or two nasties; after that, if there’s more, you better be quick to shoot, dodge and roll to one side. The latter isn’t available, but I wish I could!

Popslinger is better with an arcade fight stick rather than the Nintendo Switch’s joy con. Both are similar where neither offers an advantage. The goal is to nail targets in a specific coloured order for those heals, power-ups and conjuring of help. Both are required for the boss battles and advancing to the tougher levels. As I battled one, I saw no power bar to know how weakened it was. It felt like forever to defeat it.

Once you’re hurt, you lose one of three bars of health. Without a manual or in-game information about where to find first-aid kits, I was at a loss. This game is like Mario where tons of practice is required. I wanted to unlock the ‘Dream Time’ but to kill enough enemies in a specific order in a one-way world wasn’t achievable during my runs. Here, mastering dodging is required to progress in this game. Or, for casuals like me, perhaps having a level of difficulty switch is better.

Hopefully a patch is coming, so I can keep trying rather than give up.
