Thirteen Movies to Feast Your Eyes Upon For Halloween 2022!

I have thirteen movies on my radar for this year and they range from family friendly works to all out terrifying!

Thirteen Movies for Halloween 2022Fans of horror films will find the upcoming All Hallows Eve season promising. I have thirteen movies on my radar for this year and they range from family friendly works to all out terrifying! Plus, I’m glad I can get my viewing on now rather than wait for the official start of the Autumn season.

Usually, these films are reserved for late Sept release, but it’s already begun. I’m just sad one of the films doesn’t have an American release since it got yanked at the last minute. Hopefully it’s just an oversight and will find a place in home video or streaming closer to the date. The first film on my list fits into the spooky tradition quite well.

Presented in chronological order are (to note, not every movie has an official poster):

Dark Harvest

This movie was originally planned for an early September release but was pulled. Thankfully, if the information from filmrating.com is correct, the September 22 date suggests one part of the world can see it. People living in Argentina have a chance and sadly, I feel not giving this film a wide release is an injustice since the story is perfect for the upcoming season.

From the IMDB, “A legendary monster called October Boy terrorizes residents in a small Midwestern town when he rises from the cornfields every Halloween with his butcher knife and makes his way toward those who are brave enough to confront him.”

Thankfully, we do have this teaser trailer to keep fans sated until a new date is offered for those living in North America or other countries.

Thankfully, we have other movies with confirmed release dates and they are:

It’s No Secret. Who Will Dominate The Charts When The Rise of Gru is on Home Video?

With the Rise of Gru on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K, the stage is set for next year’s return to the Despicable franchise

Minions Rise of GruAvailable to purchase on Amazon USA

After a brief stint direct to digital, Illumination Entertainment‘s latest Minions film is now on home video. And if their proliferation is any sign, they are everywhere! With the Rise of Gru on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K, the stage is set to hint at next year’s return to the Despicable franchise, where Gru has to contend with his nasty twin brother, Dru. When watching this movie again, I get the feeling Wild Knuckles will play some kind of role in this upcoming film.

Where this tale concerning the pill-shaped compatriots’ relationship with the Gru guy takes place is years after Marlena and Felonius have settled down. It seems to ignore a few details from the last Minions movie concerning how they found their new leader and when he accepted them.

My review back in July goes into greater detail, and what I’ll look at here is the bonus material offered in this home video release.

Netflix’s The Sea Beast Is More Than A Little Red. Is it Safe to Sail the 7 Seas?

Chris Williams’ The Sea Beast combines Pirates of the Caribbean sized action adventure with How to Train Your Dragon.

The Sea BeastJust why Chris Williams The Sea Beast didn’t play in theatres isn’t a vast mystery. It would have struggled against Minions: The Rise of Gru, and Thor: Love and Thunder. In August, the only real contender is Luck, and I suspect interest between the two would be neck in neck.

When considering its scope and grandiose action sequences, I’d be more excited to watch this film on a big screen than small. And when going up against Luck, it has the name recognition behind it to give it a fighting chance. This filmmaker is best known for Big Hero 6 and Moana. Although this latest is not a Disney film, perhaps Netflix isn’t ready to market to movie houses just yet.

Technically, this movie did have a small screening in select markets before hitting the streaming service. And if they are testing the waters of entering this market, the box office results aren’t being reported. Even after all that’s been revealed with August’s annual Shark Week tradition, this film seems forgotten. This distributor’s weak push for quality animated films have been swallowed by its competition.

Hopefully, the studio will consider playing in the big leagues more. Their past works like The Willoughbys may not be a huge draw, but other projects done in partnership with them can be. They’ve developed two movies with Sony Pictures Imageworks, and this company produced the effects for major blockbusters.

Eolia. Is Part Two of this Rhythm of the Universe The Game Players Been Waiting For?

Eolia debuts on the Quest platform today with support for English voice and text, with text localization for additional languages coming post-launch.

EoliaEolia, is a virtual reality fantasy-adventure follow-up to Ionia (review) as part of the Rhythm of the Universe series. Hopefully the issues that plagued the first game have been corrected so players can save the land from climate crisis. It’s available on the Quest platform.

Developer ROTU Entertainment announced they will donate a portion of the sales of this sequel to a climate-conscious non-profit group, as selected by the ROTU social media community.

Here, you are exploring the world on the back of the mythical horse-like Lhargo as explorer Conga Dholak on a mission to protect his once-thriving planet from an ecological disaster. Extreme weather and drought plague Eolia’s deserts, peppered with the ruins of a lost civilization and on the brink of environmental collapse.

A world of adventure awaits you in Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon, the tale of a young girl determined to save her home in the deepest jungle of the rainforest.

Movie review can be read here.

At long last, this holiday season, families and world travellers can play with Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon! This film embarked on quite the world tour since initially releasing to the Ukraine back in 2021, but after that, its subsequent releases was country to country, including a stint in Canada back in February of 2022, before finally arriving in Shout! Factory’s hands for a proper multi-release in theatres, home-video and VOD.

Based on a story by award-winning filmmaker José Zelada (Kayara, Searching for Hearts), Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon is an inspiring fantasy movie adventure of a young heroine and her thrilling journey to save the endangered Amazon rainforest, with or without the princess. Directed by Zelada and Richard Claus (The Little Vampire and The Thief Lord) with a Peruvian-Dutch co-production among Tunche Films (Lima) and Cool Beans (Amsterdam), Ainbo: Spirit of the Amazon is a strikingly visual and colourful animated movie bolstered by vibrant storytelling, a strong young female lead character, fascinating folklores, and the relevant theme of deforestation and environmental conservation.

Summer Vacation Isn’t Over Yet with LEGO Star Wars’ Latest

If there’s more LEGO Star Wars specials to come, I’m all for it.

LEGO Star Wars Summer VacationAvailable to view on Disney Plus

There are times where the LEGO Star Wars story offers more of a continuation of the new trilogy story than simply be a comical side story adventure. The Holiday Special and Summer Vacation “one-off’s” are a non-canonical look at Ray, Finn and Poe’s life after Rise of Skywalker. They look at how Finn is furthering his Jedi training. While the former deals with him actually honing his skills, the latter sees them taking a break–and affirming that he will one day be a fully pledged warrior of the resistance!

The latest released early this month, and honestly, even though Sept is near, we have about three weeks of this season left!

In the first in the series, Ray was having difficulty in mentoring the former stormtrooper and in the latter, Finn is struggling with understanding what togetherness means. He’s arranged a vacation for the gang–complete with itinerary–to enjoy on the cruise liner, the Halcyon. However, once on board, they split up to find activities to personally enjoy.
