Any fan of the retro style Pixel Pulps series of interactive adventure, will be thrilled to hear Bahnsen Knights is now here! TheNFB at Victoria Film Festival 2024 News

In what’s special about this year’s spotlight on TheNFB’s programming is that they are staying current on what’s important that locals should really know about this province and Canada’s future.

The 30th edition of the Victoria Film Festival (VFF) will soon be here, and this year, the National Film Board of Canada (TheNFB) have four works being presented. Two are documentaries, and the other are shorts to be offered in their respective programs.

The Girl with the Red Beret PosterI’m particularly interested in The Girl with the Red Beret by Janet Perlman. It was named Best International Short at the Los Angeles Animation Festival and may well check this out along with the mini documentary, Modern Goose. Both are part of the “Returning” program (ticket link), playing Feb 9, 2024. This showcase’s theme is simply about coming home, going back and unfinished business.

X-Japan’s Back With “Angel” Soaring Up the Charts!

X Japan is back, and they have an all new single to thrill fans with! Angel is no doubt set to charm.

X-Japan 2023 Publicity StillX Japan may well have gone dormant amongst some fans, or disbanded if you believe in other sources, but after eight long years, the team has gotten back together to record a brand new power ballad. Fans are happy, if not elated. “Angel” is now available to stream across various platforms, including Apple Music and Spotify. A fill list can be found here:

This band led by YOSHIKI achieved legendary status among rock fans worldwide and while they won’t challenge Elon Musk, they will want their music and fandom to make their stance clear. There’s only one X Japan, and it belongs to this band, not some industrialist who thinks he can rebrand Twitter any way he wants. Fans rallied in support of the music group!

TRON 3 is Happening! Thoughts on the Latest News.

What fans can expect from TRON 3 is a different story direction than what’s implied from the last film, and that’s okay given the time that’s elapsed since that release.

Tron Legacy IMAX PosterWhatever the reasons were for delaying the making of Tron 3, I’m simply glad it’s happening! News has been dropping fast and furious concerning what’s been changed since Joseph Kosinski’s original plans back in 2015.

Although we’re not getting the continuation with what he fashioned after Tron Legacy, the concept is still there. According to JustJared.com, the film is due to begin shooting in Vancouver come August, and on Variety.com, Jodie Turner-Smith is the latest star announced to appear in this film. She will be joining Jared Leto, Evan Peters and Greta Lee.

Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) is the director this time round. He’s a very competant director to handle this property after having more than a few films made for Disney under his belt. And the talents tapped to pen this instalment add Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne to the mix. Series creator Steven Lisberger is no doubt the lead of this writing team.

Hopefully there’ll be a means to collect them too. To own all sixteen prints would be awesome, and it’ll certainly fill up any collector’s wall. Here, we can see everyone up close and personal, and what’s offered is a terrific buildup to the summer blockbuster everyone is most likely to talk about. 

This franchise has gotten countless reboots and attempts to be realised on the big screen. There’s a lot that needs to be realised, and while the animation and art style is will take getting used to, thankfully the talents behind this work are 100% behind it, and hopefully it’ll reignite interest in a beloved property that’s now 39 years old!
