On Avengers: Endgame & It’s Implications in the MCU

Expectations are high for Avengers: End Game to see how Thanos will ultimately get defeated. I know some points from Ant-Man & The Wasp are key to this film more than the self-titled movie introducing Captain Marvel. To see the heroes make use of the quantum realm can mean anything… and just what happens is a huge spoiler which I will not directly address in part one of a two-part article. Massive plot reveals will be explored later.

Overall, the experience of seeing Endgame is worth the wait of everything the past films built up to. It’s well-paced, packed to the gills with Easter Eggs to sate the Marvel Cinematic Universe fans and gives audiences everything expected of a blockbuster film. Warning: a few Act One reveals follow.

Top Five Comic Book Films to Look Out For in 2019

Just how many movies do we need in this superhero genre? Most of these comic book films define the box office these days, and we offer our must sees on the big screen.

Not every Marvel, DC and Dark Horse movie makes this list, so instead of ten, I will pare down the list down to the essential five must see comic book films. Yes, Avengers: Endgame is on the list and enough is being said about how it will change the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lineups will no doubt change and I’m expecting a shift to the West Coast Avengers. It has to happen.

Also, my heart is with Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro‘s version of Hellboy. I will give this new version a chance, but it’s tough to let go. It’s not so much the Right Hand of Doom has quite the grip on me, but rather, I wanted to see a finale to this product. It will never see fruition like the Russian made Night Watch series never got its third film.

That’s No Venom in Sony’s Rehash of Marvel Comics’ Favourite Antihero

Ever since Venom hit the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #300, his fame meter can hardly outshine another star-studded film debuting the same weekend.

Ever since Venom hit the pages of Amazing Spider-Man #300, his fame meter can hardly outshine another star-studded film debuting the same weekend. The movie’s action is essentially Terminator 2 on steroids and given a The Streets of San Francisco vibe. The title character does not feel the same as the one represented in comics. Without an arch-nemesis, this anti-hero lacks punch. I wanted to see the white Spider-Man logo across his chest. Without it, the interest in this film was minimal, other than to see how well the CGI works this time around.

The version in Spider-Man 3 had Sam Raimi’s trademark touch on it. The effect looked cheap. With digital effects far superior now, the goo looks wonderfully slick, and to see the story from Eddie Brock’s (Tom Hardy) perspective is the right choice. He’s a television reporter who cracks down on local cases Geraldo Rivera style, and when he asks the wrong questions to Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), the CEO of Life Foundation, he is out of a job. He also loses his girlfriend and has taken to drinking.

It’s a Small World After All in Ant-Man & The Wasp, and It’s Influence on the MCU

Ant-Man and the Wasp is a far more comedic film than any other in the Marvel Comics Universe. While it’s tough to beat James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy, I can not wait to see Drak and Ant-Man get together. Talk about David and Goliath!

When considering the all-star talent involved in both works, this second outing has a lot more to appreciate. Not all of this tale is a paint by numbers scenario. The main plot is to save the original Wasp (Janet van Dyne, Michelle Pfeiffer) from Quantum Reality and in the mind of many is how does this film tie into the events of Avengers: Infinity War?

Those fans who have kept up can easily figure it out. This spoiler will not be revealed. As with most superhero films, they do better without that origin story. This story picks up two years where the last left off and considers Scott Lang’s (Paul Rudd) past involvement with the Avengers. He’s serving time after his appearance in Captain America: Civil War, and only has a few days left to his house arrest.

The Aftermath; Cherry Bomb Toys Blows Up Their Ultimate Toy Fair to Two Days!

Nobody can ever know about the possible discoveries to be found at Cherry Bomb Toys’ Ultimate Toy Fair. Instead of a one-day event, it is now two. At least a third of the space was occupied by local shops with items from their vaults and the rest are from either long-time collectors or hobby enthusiasts’ massive collections. Had I spent more careful time on Saturday, I might have spotted the set of miniatures from Dark Crystal the Movie! This product from 1982 was from Pinnacle.

In past shows, I acquired the Orguss from the Super Dimension Century series of the same time. It’s missing the gun, and in due time, I will have the CAD design skills to create and 3D print the replacement part. I even found an Invid once; I passed on it because it was very battle damaged. The thrill of the hunt for random goodness defines why I continue going. The fact it’s a weekend event now had me curious and I had to explore the possibility of what I could find when not everyone will be vending for both days.

Avengers Infinity War — Thoughts on Thanos

Avid followers of Marvel Entertainment’s works have reason to cheer. The ten-year ride to get to Avengers: Infinity War is finally here!

Essential to this film is knowing the events from the previous Avengers, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy films. The story continues from where Thor:Ragnarök left off. When considering the focus is finally on the mad Titan Thanos, to learn about his back story is the highlight of this film.
