Connecting Deadpool Two FOX’s X-Men Universe & A Review

Ryan Reynolds had a crazy, mixed up career in superhero movies. His past appearances as Green Lantern, or Deadpool .5 in X-Men Origins: Wolverine were harshly criticized, In Blade: Trinity, I paid attention. As a handsome and talented actor, he is second to none. As a voice over talent, he made Guy (the smooth as silk boyfriend in The Croods), a fun focus. I knew he has a terrific sense of comic timing. Translating that to Deadpool, the merc with the mouth, and anyone can clearly tell he is having fun with the character. He totally owns it!

Gutsier out-there comic book movies with the R rating needs to be made (hint: bring Lobo to the big screen). Whatever the joke which was removed because of the pending Fox-Disney deal, I hope it can surface just so I can see how badly that scene would have ruffled feathers. This movie is simply terrific with all the meta jokes made and is worth revisiting to catalogue them all.

Avengers Infinity War — Thoughts on Thanos

Avid followers of Marvel Entertainment’s works have reason to cheer. The ten-year ride to get to Avengers: Infinity War is finally here!

Essential to this film is knowing the events from the previous Avengers, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy films. The story continues from where Thor:Ragnarök left off.  When considering the focus is finally on the mad Titan Thanos, to learn about his back story is the highlight of this film.

Explaining Sicario to Nerds & Its Anime Connection, A Movie Review

There’s a nerdy connection in the movie Sicario that fans of Marvel Entertainment will like. They will get to see just how wonderfully talented Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro are. In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they play Thanos and The Collector. In the movie made universe of the Sicario, where the cartel wars in Mexico are explored, they are special agents Matt Graver and Alejandro attempting to control the situation. But just how well will they succeed? Both of whom have secret motives that’s subtly explored, and these actors are not alone in this tiny club. Jon Bernthal plays The Punisher in Netflix’s Daredevil.

When Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) gets thrust into this world after a drug bust. just what she is after is uncertain. She’s the real lead in this film, and the world she’s exposed to is mostly that of subterfuge and double-dealings. In what she discovers is more than just a cat and mouse game of who will gain control. In this game that’s also like a chess match, it’s hard to tell if she’s simply just a pawn. She wants to be a champion for a cause, but there are learning pains before she realizes what’s going on.

Sin City: A Review to Kill For

SinCityADameToKillForE: Perhaps it’s wise to see Sin City first before seeing the second film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. After nine long years, that’s required in order to understand at least two of the tales that make up this sequel. With one story, knowing a bit more than the summary Nancy Callahan (Jessica Alba) or Senator Roark (Powers Boothe) provides can make this particular tale all the more appreciative. Or in this film’s case, see a marked retribution in what Callahan faced from the first film. For some fans of this marked neo noir piece, she’s perhaps one of the best eye candy to grace the screen.

J: There isn’t much to say about this film plot wise, guns blaze, people die and somehow characters cross paths. But if you haven’t read the comic books, the film may leave you in the dark. The film is just one big mess. Storywise it is like Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez threw a bunch of comic strips in the air and whatever order it came down in, that is how the movie was shot.

E: Bear in mind one fact. James has not read the comics and I only read one collected works in graphic novel format. This film could fare better if it had inter-titles to separate the four tales being presented. Two were written for this sequel specifically. They were “The Long Bad Night” and “Nancy’s Last Dance.” From the comics, the other two are “Just Another Saturday Night” and “A Dame to Kill For.” The latter being the central theme to this anthology of tales were the black widow, or rather, the femme fatale everyone has to be careful with is Ava Lord (played by Eva Green). And oh boy, was she smokin’!
