Japanese girl group FAKY’s latest single, “Futakoito,” was released, and Vocaloid producer Aqu3ra couldn’t be happier. This visually gorgeous and poetic piece blends a few music styles together into a symphonic treat. Although no translation was made available at time of release, hopefully this can change in the coming weeks–or fans can wait for the release of Ox-Head Village, an upcoming horror movie by ‘Ju-On’ creator Takashi Shimizu. 

This filmmaker released a statement about the music video. “The lyrics in this song about ‘another me (myself)’ are indeed the hidden theme of this movie. In an era where social media allows any of us to become someone else, can the two sides of the ego coexist? Will you struggle and be sucked in? Can you hold on to the essence of yourself?”

FEMM has a new album! Tokyo Ex Machina was released a few days ago and the music video ‘We Got Each Other’ went online to show just how fun loving these two girls are–and why being in a relationship doesn’t always have to matter. RiRi and LuLa just wanna have fun in classic Cyndi Lauper fashion. It’s a bouncy tune with a techno style edge (hip hop) to show why being BFFs manners more. The visuals feels more like they’re from the 70s, though director Julie Giesen may say otherwise.

AKB48 to Livestream @TokyoDome June 27 JST!

This festival will implement XR technology, which is unique to online staging. Now the festival can be enjoyed and experienced across multiple platforms allowing fans from all around the world to interact with the contents.

Anyone yearning for that summer concert experience will have to wait a little bit longer because of the pandemic. Thankfully, some show promoters are keeping it virtual. Anyone wanting their J-pop will be glad to know AKB48 will be performing at Asia Festival 2021 Online.

This event was first held back in January 2019 and won instant accolades. In the same year, on August 24th, a second event was held in Shanghai and was met with equal enthusiasm. The look into what made each group unique was key to this show’s success.

This pay-for event will present performances from the internationally popular J-Pop idols and their sister groups on June 27. Just like a real concert, different levels exist for those wanting “the perks” like pre-show, post-performance exclusives or souvenirs to this digital show.

This event will unite AKB48’S sister groups from across Asia, including JKT48 (Jakarta), BNK48 (Bangkok), MNL48 (Manila), AKB48 Team SH (Shanghai), AKB48 Team TP (Taipei), SGO48 (Ho Chi Minh City), and CGM48 (Chiang Mai).

From Art to Music with Millennium Parade’s Debut Album!

This work draws from Japanese folklore, and this supernatural world has modern tonality embedded in the lyrics. The songs take ideas from Hyakki Yagyo – The Night of One Hundred Demons and transform the images, stories and lore from this Asiatic world into evocative melodies that’s both a meditative and a clubbing experience.

Not everyone will know of Millennium Parade, an arts collective from Japan whose music can’t be easily pigeon-holed. They are led by Daiki Tsuneta, frontman of J-Pop band King Gnu, and can be categorized as New Wave or Trip Hop. The debut self-titled album is a fresh exhilarating experience for me, and their sound is similar to but not quite like the sound from the virtual band’s Gorillaz. But anime fans will know them because they’re the composers of the opening song, “Fly with Me” for Netflix’s Ghost in the Shell: SAC 2045.

This work draws from Japanese folklore, and this supernatural world has modern tonality embedded in the lyrics. The songs take ideas from Hyakki Yagyo – The Night of One Hundred Demons and transform the images, stories and lore from this Asiatic world into evocative melodies that’s both a meditative and a clubbing experience. On the cover, a “Tezutsu Hanabi” (the oldest form of Japanese fireworks, encased in bamboo and held by hand) which was traditionally used to protect from evil spirits, and was also used to pray for a good harvest, is held by Ebisu (one of the 7 Gods of Fortune).

Fans of masked production unit AmPm have three new reasons to celebrate! This duo have three brand-new releases. Available to listen now are remixes of “Chime” by Ai Otsuka and the title song to the upcoming CGI movie, “Lupin the Third!” This film will debut around North America on Oct 18th (dub) and 21st (subtitled). On the latter day, an original track from this duo will also be released to keep the funk on. They have reunited with vocal collaborators Michael Kaneko and Nao Kawamura to give fans more than a singular treat for this season.
