Putting all the Featurettes Together in The Lost City

The following are the best The Lost City featurettes released to date. Available to watch online are most of the mini-featurettes released to date. Check it out!

Over the weekend, some fans were offered an early access screening of The Lost City in select cities (and SXSW). The response is terrific, and the hype is real.

As we near a month where studios expect audiences to return to theatres in certain parts of the world, the competition of which film will rule the month of April will be fierce! Many featurettes have been released over the past few months to build anticipation for this teamup starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, and Daniel Radcliffe. This powerhouse grouping has all the makings to challenge Netflix’s Red Notice (different story though).

The following are the best featurettes released to date. Available to watch online are most of the mini-featurettes released to date. Check it out!

Top Five Spooky Ghost Stories for the Winter Season (Part Two)

Some ghost stories are meant to be told in front of a fireplace on a cold winter’s night, and this list covers it all!

Kwaidan (1964) - Ghost StoriesIn part two, some ghost stories take advantage of the season more so than a specific day to deliver the chills. This list of ghostly tales considers how the land is ready to rebel against the wayfarer.

Fighting the Wendigo isn’t tough, but rather is in why hasn’t it terrorized humanity sooner? There’s also the Yeti to consider, but those films involving a monster of the North or icy tundra are a dime a dozen. In keeping to the spirit, only shades are considered in this list:

Kwaidan “The Woman in the Snow” (1965)

This anthology series has one stand out for the season. The Woman in the Snow is about a woodcutter who meets an icy spirit. He would’ve been killed, but made a promise to not say a thing to anyone else about her. The chills are truly delivered when he forgets his promise ten years later…

Halloween Inspired Thrills for (Animated) Ghostseekers!

The best part of every Halloween season is in searching the catalogue of past hits to enjoy time and time again.

Jeremy Zag en Instagram: “Ghostforce #ghostforce #zagheroez #ghost #superpower #superhero” in 2021 | Miraculous ladybug anime, Ladybug anime, Miraculous ladybug comicPart of the every year’s Halloween fun is to partake in the paranormal. Whether that’s with participating in a ghost hunt or trick and treating, there’s also bonfires and sometimes just enjoying a program on television on those chilly nights. Nearly every spooky animated television series has a Halloween themed episode. This year has a few new entries from popular shows for this decade, but the the classics, I’ll fondly turn to Scooby-Doo. “To Switch a Witch,” is a favourite. The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour featured “The Headless Horseman of Halloween” and What’s New Scooby-Doo? featured “A Scooby-Doo Halloween.”

In part one, I offer my picks from series where the ghost is a key figure in the cast.

Honouring the Dead with Top 5 Picks During South Asia’s Ghost Month

Hungry Ghosts (TV Mini Series 2020– ) - IMDbGhost Month is now upon us, and people in South Asia are honouring their ancestors lest they become hungry. The lore about making them happy in this afterlife is just one of at least three traditions that we practise throughout the year. And for those who are looking for a good spooky tale, trying to find something recent isn’t always there. That is, the output has not been the same as those movies set in or close to Chinese New Year.

The classics include Chinese Ghost Story, the Eye, Ju-on and so forth, but they’re too time-honoured to be cool anymore. When going through my collection and scouring the Internet, I offer my top five picks with the tough criteria in what to love from each country. Also, this list is not restricted to just film:

Topping my list is:

Hungry Ghosts (2020)

Australia
TV Drama 4x50min
Available on SBSOnDemand

When a powerful amulet is broken on the eve of the Hungry Ghost Festival in Melbourne, a vengeful spirit is unleashed, bringing the dead with him. As they wreak havoc across the Vietnamese Australian community, reclaiming lost loves and repaying old grudges, a young woman who’s never taken responsibility for who she could be, must finally step up and accept her destiny.

Victoria, BC’s Fringe Festival is Back! Journey with Alice as …

Anyone who knows that movie will realize that Alice is struggling in this Fringe Festival performance, but eventually she perseveres.

Victoria FringeAug 13 to Sept 24 — INTREPID THEATREAug 13th to 18th
Tickets can be purchased in advance here.

The Victoria Fringe Theatre Festival is back, and it’s adapted to allow enthusiasts of the dramatic arts to attend shows in person and online. That is, for the live stage shows, instead of rows of seats, we have tables. This change makes sense as we are still in a pandemic, and it allows for some distancing between social bubbles so that small groups of friends can stick together when going to a performance.

Kicking off the 2021 edition, the shows are spread throughout four weeks at The Metro theatre venue. All the in-person events will take place here, and for once, we’re not running around town to get to another show. One year, the Fringe will return to that format, but until the health officers say we’re past the health scare, I believe Intrepid Theatre will stick to this new format.

To read a list of my picks of the Fringe, I’ve published a guide on my food & theatre site, Twohungryblokes.com

In the show to kick off the Fringe, Alice explores Wonderland, not in the Lewis Carrol sense but ala Carl Jung. This young girl is losing her mom. In the opening act, she’s asked to see the doctor. Afraid, instead of wanting to face the inevitable, she steps into a void and hits a barrier.

The Vintage Tempest’s Top Five Animated Picks to see at Fantasia Fest 2021

Fantasia Fest 2021 BannerFantasia Fest is the event to keep tabs on about which animations will hit a theatre near you. Between this celebration of genre movies and Annecy, a festival of all things animation, the works featured also means which titles GKIDS & Shout! Factory is likely to pick up for release onto home video.

This year is rife with a lot of Japanese pieces I can’t wait to see. There’s even a very wicked selection of eight shorts in Things That Go Bump in the East 2021 Edition, which tops my list. The most promising is Juan-Diablo-Pablo; It’s a showcase of Asian inspired terror! Also, Circo Animato 2021 should never be missed. It showcases the up-and-coming talents.

On the regular front, I offer my top five picks from the twelve pieces being offered. The titles mentioned in the previous article aren’t included to prevent overlap. I’ll most likely see them all (schedule permitting), and this list is presented in alphabetical order.
