What Cartoon Should Disney Revitalise Next?

Disney is coming close to running out of their own properties to reboot and as for what they’ll revitalise next may be hard to guess.

Disney PlusDisney is close to running out of their own properties to reboot. With Ducktales and Rescue Rangers being in the forefront, what’s left isn’t much. Not everyone is even aware the chipmunk’s ‘continuing’ Park Life adventures is up to season two. This toon has been out for a while, even before the release of the live-action CGI film. And regarding the zinger at the end of the Rescue Rangers film, and all I have to say is, “Yes, please!”

As for Uncle Scrooge and family, it’s possible to see their adventures continue as feature films. Perhaps we can see them embark on adventures where there’ll be more crossovers. As for Cape Suzette; I’d welcome seeing how Kit is handling the family business beyond the one episode featured. The kids have all grown up, and I don’t recall if that episode said where Baloo von Bruinwald and Rebecca Cunningham went.

The Autumn television season is almost upon us, and that often means school is starting. Whether that’s post-secondary or elementary, sometimes all it takes is an extra audio-visual component to make learning wonderous–and that’s where Knowledge Network comes in. They have an excellent range of documentaries to help broaden any viewer’s mind.

I fell in love with this network’s offerings because of a special on Australia’s aboriginal culture a long time ago. If only Western Civilization 12 was taught like how this channel enlightens, I may have became an anthropologist instead of journalist. Flash forward to today, this British Columbia based publically funded broadcasting network is continuing with their mission. I mostly watch their specials on ancient history. From time to time, I’ll have their kids programming material playing in the background. In the past, I listened to Bill Nye the Science Guy and tuned into animated adaptations of popular children’s books I grew up reading.

Over the many decades of programming, their Knowledge Kids brand, now in their tween years, is only getting better. Not only can people find it on air Saturday mornings but also to watch on the go on iOS, Android or Roku enabled devices. In 2021, they’re offering something old and something new. I had a chance to correspond with Michele Paris, the Senior Manager of Children’s Programming, on what’s coming up:

Which Scooby-Doo Are You on Halloween?

Long time fans may well feel jaded Scooby-Doo and gang doesn’t get the love during Samhain. We’re going to highlight the best moments though!

Scooby-DooCuriously, despite the Scooby Doo franchise being over 50 years old, there aren’t that many releases featuring the gang in Halloween-specific adventures. Although there’s a handful of works released during the month of October, they honestly don’t count.

I can only name two–Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School from (1988) and Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! (2020). This romp marks Warner Brothers’s foray into uniting all their franchises by bringing in The Scarecrow from Batman. However, his warning to the gang, “You’re in over your head in this one,” goes unheeded.

They try to figure out what’s going on in this latest crime caper and meet Elvira. Her appearances with this franchise is synonymous with the season. Her appearance here felt more of an obligatory inclusion than anything else. I’d rather return to seeing the gang deal with their usual problem solving from the televised series.
