Returning and New Animated Series Worth Tuning In For!

Although there isn’t a huge slate of new animated series to debut in the coming months, what’s presented is a wylde selection from North America and Japan

Phineas and Ferb leading the charge for summer animated seriesNow that we’re well into Spring and school is almost over, some kids may well want to laze about watching various animated series on television while others go to camp. Alternatively, some families may well be preparing for going on a massive vacation. Whatever the case, the upcoming slate of programming is small, but I’ll be tuning in to watch at least half of the returning if not new shows.

What’s offered is a handful of series coming out not only here in North America but also Japan. These are shows I’m looking forward to, and list includes broadcast dates where possible.

June 2025
Phineas and Ferb—Season 5

When the beloved step brothers return with new summer adventures, just what these two can get up to is only more chaotic fun, and more tales about what makes this pairing the oddballs that they are. When Michael Bublé and Meghan Trainor have guest roles, there’s something to be excited for!

Wylde Pak
Premiere: June 6 on Nickelodeon

This comedy series about Jack and Lily, who are half-siblings, dealing with life as a newly blended Korean American family may seem no different from past attempts, but when the selling point is that the art style is like the cartoon, Loud House, I have to give this show a view. While I feel the exploration of what the Korean world is like may well be moderate light, that may change.

Animated Series Coming During July 2025

Necronomico no Cosmic Horror Show
Premiere: July 1 on Tokyo MX and other Japanese networks

Necronomico no Cosmic Horror Show

While I’m sure this series is no Rocky Horror, I’m sure a lot of Lovecraft is going to be referred to in this (yet another) high school story, where the protagonist is really into the occult. Thankfully, the synopsis reveals that much of it is virtually generated, and I suspect some of it may attempt to manifest in real life.

My Melody & Kuromi – Season 1
Premiere: July (exact date TBA) on Netflix

When this stop-motion anime is celebrating the anniversaries of Sanrio characters My Melody and Kuromi, yes, I’m curious. In this world, the former is a girl who lives a relatively simple life, takes care of her brother and has to deal with the latter, whom she considers a rival. But as for where she came from, it seems like she’s from another world, and what’s presented is a tale about opposites who eventually have to band together to face a foe simply known as The Spirit of Dark Power.

Kaiju No. 8 – Season 2
Premiere: July (exact date TBA)

All fans need to know is that when kaiju are involved, it’s time to figure out how to deal with them properly. As this series is a continuation, it’s time I get a refresher!

Animated Series Beginning August 2025

Eyes of Wakanda PosterEyes of Wakanda
Premiere: August 6 on Disney+

Sadly, there’s no Black Panther here. Instead, this miniseries will look at the lives of other Wakandans as they protect their horde, or retrieve artifacts they believe the world is not ready for. When most of the animated products have fared better than the live-action MCU world series, I’ll be tuning in to watch.

Animated Series Beginning Sept 2025

My Adventures With Superman – Season 3

My Adventures With Superman – Season 3I’ve been enjoying this young adult styled update of Superman, and when the creators altered much of the original canon to suit this alt-universe take, I like to know what’s next? Brainiac brainwashed Kara (Supergirl), making her a threat until she is able to recover. But when other individuals include Amanda Waller and Lex Luthor, their story arcs are not done at all, and I want to see who can outdo whom!
