Youjo Senki CM Debuts on Japanese Television

With just a week away from the premiere of the anime based on Carlo Zen and Shinobu Shinotsuki’s gender-swapping military strategy light novel series Youjo Senki (published by Enterbrain of Kadokawa Corporation), this commercial aired on Japanese television. It was made available for worldwide viewing today on Kodakawa’s anime YouTube channel. The commercial gives details on the dates, times and stations Youjo will broadcast.
According to the Youjo Senki anime website the story follows the blond hair blue-eyed young girl Tanya Degrechaf in the unified calendar of 1923 during her final course at the Imperial Military Academy. She is engaged in training at the third patrol line of the Northern military district Norden battlefield as part of the unit’s work. Training, which is the first step towards a brilliant career as an aviation magician. It was supposed to have finished without any problems.

Don’t Worry, Zeon’s Got Your Back with Super Deformed Comfy Cute Cushions

From the Bandai Life homeware Division comes four unique Mobile Suit Gundam cushions. As part of the Hito Yasumi Head Cushion series, the mobile suits of the Zeon army, MS-06 Zaku II, MS-06S Zaku II, MS-07 Gouf, and MS-09 Dom have been recreated in super-deformed versions. Each cushion is a hemispherical type bearing an “angular robot likeness” to the mobile suits (robots) from the series. Each mobile suit cushion comes in a different colour and each has a singular eye called the “mono eye”. Each cushion will retail for 4,104 yen ($34.79 US, $46.39 CAN, or £27.84 GBP) each (including tax, excluding shipping and handling fees).

Tatsunoko’s Live-Action Feature, ‘Hurricane Polymar’, Teaser Trailer Released!

The live-action feature film adaption of Tatsunoko Productions’ animated creation, Hurricane Polymar, might be closer to premiere than you think. Officially announced earlier by Tatsunoko in November, the teaser trailer made its debut yesterday. The film is set to release in May, 2017 and will coincide with the 55th anniversary of Tatsunoko Productions, an animation company founded by anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida and brothers Kenji and Toyoharu (who has written under the pen name “Ippei Kuri”). Among the many titles Tasunoko has been responsible for are Mach Go Go Go (Speed Racer), Science Ninja Team Gatchaman (Battle of the Planets, G-Force), and Tekkaman: The Space Knight.

Wind Up Geek’s J-Music Quick Fix – November 28, 2016

Glay’s lead guitarist Takuro has released a short version of his music video “Guess Who”, a track off his first upcoming solo album Journey without a Map (to be released December 14, 2016). The album contains 11 tracks that is jazz and blues based and is produced by Takahiro Matsumoto, Grammy Award winning artist and member of rock duo B’z. Matsumoto won the Grammy with Larry Carlton in 2011 for best Pop Instrumental Album Take Your Pick. Fans can purchase the CD at a cost of ¥2,500 plus tax or buy the CD/DVD package which will contain the full version of “Guess Who”, a making of, and two documentary films for ¥4,000. Takuro will be supporting his first solo album with a 15 performance tour of Japan starting in February, 2017.
