Dragons: Only Finding One than The Nine Realms

This series synopsis says this latest is a continuation of HTTYD. There are a few nods, but I’m fairly sure none of the heroes here are reincarnations of Hiccup and crew.

Dragons: The Nine Realms (TV Series 2021– ) - IMDbAvailable on Hulu

When DreamWorks bought the media rights to Cassandra Cowell‘s How to Train Your Dragon, nobody realised how much of a success it would be. That book and cinematic series about a gangly hero who becomes best friends with a rare dragon is technically over, and the studio is continuing the saga as Dragons, which looks at other humans becoming a rider.

Rescue Riders is a pre-school non-canonical oriented version where each episode essentially teaches kids a solid core of values. It’s not a series for everyone. The Nine Realms is a modern-day take geared for the tween crowd. The latter is a decent watch as it puts the story in the present day. A comet crashed on Earth and created a fissure. Scientists are curious about what it has opened, and it’s literally a “Hidden World.”

Star Trek Prodigy is this Franchise’s Shining Light

The fact Star Trek Prodigy is developed for younger audiences makes for a better tone and escapism that Discovery lacks.

Star Trek Prodigy Streaming on Nickelodeon and Paramount+

Releasing Star Trek Prodigy in small waves is perhaps the next best thing to creating that serialised vibe past series are known for. The first five episodes set up the dynamics in a new crew of misfits who end up finding an experimental Federation starship–presumably abandoned in the Delta quadrant–and figuring out what to do with it. The hologram that helps them out is a simulacrum of Admiral Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) from Voyager. As far as artificial intelligence goes, she’s willing to ignore the fact they’re not cadets.

This series is Paramount’s answer to Star Wars: Rebels. We have Dal (Brett Gray), a 17-year-old renegade without parents. The first episode focuses on him escaping a prisoner’s life and finding the USS Protostar to hide out in. He is joined by Pog (Jason Mantzoukas), Zero (Angus Imrie), Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui) and Murf (Dee Bradley Baker), but five is not enough if they are to escape from the clutches of Diviner (John Noble). He is Gwyn’s father (Ella Purnell), the reluctant sixth member, and is a tyrant of the imprisonment colony of Tars Lamora. Sources say this character is modelled after Kahn from the movies, but I think there’s more of an Admiral Thrawn type personality behind him. He’s in search for that Federation ship. As for what he wants to do with it, that’s anybody’s guess until the next batch of episodes is out.

Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop: The Return of a Classic

Cowboy Bebop, the new sci-fi series streaming on Netflix, follows the exploits of Jet Black and Spike Spiegel, a pair of bounty hunters travelling the solar system while trying to make ends meet.

Netflix Debuts a Cowboy Bebop Trailer and a New PosterNow Available on Netflix

Cowboy Bebop, the new sci-fi series streaming on Netflix, follows the exploits of Jet Black and Spike Spiegel, a pair of bounty hunters travelling the solar system while trying to make ends meet. In their line of work, they have to deal with everything the solar system sends their way from drug dealing nut jobs to ridiculous fuel costs and everything in between.

Cowboy Bebop is also based off the classic anime of the same name from 1998 with the same characters and premise. Currently rated nearly 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, many consider it to be legendary, and I’m one of them. So when Netflix announced a live-action remake of Cowboy Bebop, I was excited. Though the fandom immediately split on whether or not this reboot was going to be good or if it should have been made at all. Remakes and reboots rarely have a very good track record, but I’m not against them at all, so I decided to be cautiously optimistic.

A Filthy Lot, From Startup to Vancouver’s Variety Channel for Gamers and Nerds Alike

Gemma knows that A Filthy Lot is walking into this with their eyes wide open. “You hope for big success out of the gate–of course you do–but, I know it’s going to take five years,” he realistically said.

2023 Update: This company has rebranded post-pandemic to QuestCoast Studios

A Filthy Lot Entertainment is a relatively new North Vancouver based company who encourages content creators to just do it. A Filthy Questline is one of their three channels (the others are the main, an anything goes, and comedy channel) where talents can show off their love for pop culture. Whether that’d be with comic book movies, board games, video games or role-playing, there’s a lot more to this company than meets the eye.

Christopher Livingston is the CEO and Trevor Gemma is the CCO of this company. Before creating this company, they both had careers in the local film/television scene. The former was a lighting technician but he wanted to produce. Part of his credits include The Killing, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl and Pirates of the Caribbean 5. The latter was an actor with the desire to craft his own productions. From a local cult hit Gutterballs to The Little Mermaid, a horror film, to Riese the Series (web) his success was as varied as the wind that guides him. The two met during production of Riese

“It was a magical little web series everyone became friends on, which doesn’t happen very often in the film. I’ve made a lot of long-term friends there, including Chris, Nadav, and Mischa, who were with us when we started the company,” said Gemma.

The Best Animated Announcements From Disney Plus Day

There were lots of announcements on what’s coming on Disney Plus, and we present our most favourite news from this event!

What Is Disney Plus Day: New Movies and Features Available NowOn Disney Plus Day, a lot of new works announced will come flooding into the streaming service next year. I’m more excited for the animated material than the others. Yes, Marvel Entertainment and Star Wars will get their expanded universe treatment, and all I can say is, “What, no more Clone Wars type material? There’s no tease for what the next season of The Bad Batch will entail?”

Out of the entirety of everything’s announced, it’s Chip n’ Dale Rescue Rangers which excites me the most. I’ve always loved their nostalgia laden pulp fiction adventures. It’s going to be a live-action / CGI hybrid work, and I’m okay with that. Ever since their cameo in the updated Ducktales, I’ve been hoping their return isn’t being delayed because of finding replacement voices or rights management.

Other works include:
