On the Finale of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Lovecraft & Its Future

The paintings Spellman is admiring may well be portals to potential ways can return for further Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina SPOILER ALERT

Netflix’s supernatural series concerning a certain teenage spell-caster has sadly ended. The past seasons had The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina dealing with a lot of issues not only about life as a half-witch, half-mortal but also with her role against adversaries far more experienced than her in matters of what exists in heaven, hell and in between!

The installation of cosmic horror–namely the works of H. P. Lovecraft–is very well done. Instead of directly referencing specific Elder Gods, the concepts of what they represent are given a fresh new spin. I had wondered just how the pagans from the previous season would summon them. I half expected grandiose incantations and a lamps exploding as they enter, but–because of budgetary concerns-the beings sulk into the narrative. They appear as humanoid forms and are simply known as “Terrors.”

Top Ten Animated Picks to Look Out For in 2021!

Evangelion 3.0 + 1.0 Movie PosterBy Ed Sum
(The Vintage Tempest)

In the animated front, the films I’m really excited for are from China. Getting the news from this country is tough, and the studios are mum about what’s next in the Fengshen Cinematic Universe! I tried contacting a Vancouver studio supposedly involved and they never responded.

Because of the pandemic, a lot of production work shifted to either finishing at home or was put on hiatus. The workflow may well have slowed down too. Thankfully, there’s some good news: one particular Japanese animated title is coming very soon.

I’m hopeful the international release is not too much later.

The Rebuild tetralogy was on infinite hold when Hideaki Anno was off building Shin Godzilla. Anyone who has seen the original anime will know the general premise–young teens saving the Earth from a holy battle–but with the Illuminati like conspiracies going on, they are locked in an even different secret war. However, this reboot is huge, and it’s one I’m refusing to see one by one over several years. The wait is finally over so fans can see this re-imaging in its entirety.

What’s New and Old for This Year’s Christmas Special Viewing?

But as for regular programming from the past twenty years, there’s only a handful of Christmas related works which I’d happily watch time and time again.

Angela's Christmas Wish review - bringing the warmth back to the seasonMany animated Christmas specials (from 19xx to 2000) are considered tradition, and others–the newer stuff–are jockeying for position as a fan favourite in today’s holidays. Of the channels I’m subscribed to (or are part of my regular network package), the content is not feeling as fresh as it could be. YTV is generally my go to channel, but these days, this station is including programming that mixes up decades and a few new things as staples for the season.

They offer a bit of new content. There’s plenty of top ten or twelve, but I’m tightening the belt on making it five!

A Look into Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons #2

The game of Dungeons and Dragons is an escape for Will. But for others, even in this issue, they are showing signs of wanting to change hobbies.

A lot of time has passed between issues one and two of Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons comic. In the second chapter, the events of the live-action season one have passed. Will is not on equal footing anymore, and his only comfort zone is in escaping to the world of Dungeons and Dragons. No reference to the cartoon is made, but I’m betting this reference is coming.

Is LEGO Jurassic World Finished? Legend of Isla Nublar and Double Trouble

According to NickALive these episodes will eventually hit Peacock Kids on YouTube. I suspect a world tour is happening for this “movie,” before we find these babies finally settle down–either as a complete home video release or otherwise. Good things come who wait, otherwise fans will surely go on a rampage!

Stranger ThingsLego Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar is a superb non canonical prequel to the film. The plotting is right up there with Star Wars: The Freemakers and I liked the salutary lessons included in how to respect the animal kingdom. Also, this series makes the reptiles more intelligent than we take them for (when compared to the live-action). The Raptors understand Owen; it’s nice to see how his handling of them progressed from this show to the live action.

Knowing the prior special, The Secret Exhibit, is a must. Owen thought what he was employed for was a one-off job, but the attraction is with the girl instead of the island paradise. We see how he found his motorcycle, and it’s these nods that I truly appreciated.

Both series are currently available on Netflix. As for what’s next, the series is jumping ship to other networks to say dinosaurs are not dead. They’re just confused.

The Folklore Behind Invincible Dragon (九龙不败)

Jin (Max) Zhang is the next Invincible Dragon! Or rather, in this movie’s case, an undercover cop whose lapse in judgement on duty has robbed him of more than just a fiancée.

Well GO USA
Now Available on Netflix and DVD

Jin (Max) Zhang is the next Fist of the North Star. Or should that be Crying Freeman? Anime references notwithstanding, he has the good looks to pull off playing either character should they get realized into live action. But in Invincible Dragon, he plays Kowloon, an undercover cop whose lapse in judgement on duty has robbed him of more than just a fiancée. He gets reassigned and stumbles into another crime wave much to the chagrin of his captain.

A psychopath is out on the loose and killing female police officers. Losing his girlfriend is motivation to get him on the case. It’s a cop and MMA showcase of what Zhang can do as a fighter. The punches feel real, especially when his rival, Alexander Sinclair, is played Brazilian mixed martial artist Anderson Silva. They are the highlight. Plus, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bungee cord used in a fight before!
