There’s more than one elephant who needs to be saved, and in this work, it’s not just about Lucy. While Edmonton loves her, there’s also the impact made upon The Stolen Lives of Elephants who live elsewhere.

Rescuing elephants from questionable conditions is still an ongoing problem. In the latest documentary simply titled Lucy: The Stolen Lives of Elephants, the focus is taking aim at the Edmonton Valley Zoo and figuring out what’s the best way to take care of the last pachyderm this place will ever house. Although the victory seems hollow as she is no longer an attraction, the work needs to raise awareness of how to medically and emotionally take care of her in the current conditions she lives in.

The last time I looked at this topic was with a documentary made by local filmmakers. When Elephants Were Young (review) looked at a different side of the debate. I was really interested and even interviewed one producer. When William Shatner is narrating, I had to wonder how deep his passion is too. I could’ve asked him at Fan Expo Vancouver 2025 if he remembers that work and where he stands now versus accepting the job because it was a pay cheque. As for Cher’s efforts to move another elephant named Kaavan to a Brazilian sanctuary, that’s at least well documented.

In Search of Aliens Uncovered Jesuits Secrets Rather Than Desert Riches

Maybe some things shouldn’t be unearthed! In Aliens Uncovered Jesuits Secrets, while some ideas may seem far fetched, could what documentarian Clive Christopher is looking for the truth?

Some people may say the topics Clive Christopher has in his UFO conspiracy documentary series are far-fetched. However, I’m finding some of his releases better than others. In his latest, Aliens Uncovered: Jesuits Secrets, they are not out to spread the word of Christ. There’s also the search for gold (to help the aliens who need to “phone home” in order to save their planet).

However, there’s more to the mystery. The locals believe Mount Graham is a source of mystery. While the indigenous tribes living here are harvesting from the land for food and sustenance, there are others seeking something else! It’s rumoured the aliens want the minerals said to be buried here. Also, when the Vatican built an observatory here and it’s home to two other telescopes, perhaps these organisations know something else is hovering above.

The Alien (UFO) Cinematic Agenda at SXSW 2025 and Nerdy Picks For the Horror Enthusiast

SXSW is always worth paying attention to because of its various premieres in the cinematic front. This year looks exceptional if you love invasion themed material!

SXSW Logo Poster OrientaedSXSW is shaping up to be the year the aliens took over Austin, Texas. Now that this event is in full swing, I’ll be paying attention to how well certain films will do, and how fast they will get (pardoning the pun) picked up by distributors.

Usually, all I do is pay attention to the midnight madness movie screenings over other debuts. When this mega event celebrates music, tech, and film, it’s often the latter two that I have more interest in. That’s because the movies give me a good idea of what to expect when Montreal’s Fantasia Film Festival announces their lineup. When there’s five films that share concerns over UFO visitations, I hope these films will land elsewhere later this year!

And while this enormous event has much more entertainment to consider, I have to round out the list to ten than the usual five. There are some fabulous documentaries that have my attention, and as for other buzz worthy films, what I offer is a list of works that definitely have my interest beyond the usual midnight madness picks. What I present works in alphabetical order that are “coming soon.”

Takin’ Care of Business “The Anime Business” Isn’t Like Handling A Barrel of Monkeys, Hopefully

In this insightful look into the early days of The Anime Business, some people were taking a gamble regarding distributing cartoons made in another country.

The Anime Business Title CardAnyone curious about how “The Anime Business” started in North America will be interested in a brand-new monthly documentary that’s now streaming on YouTube. It’s an insightful series that talks to the pioneers who started the many operations that brought titles like Bubblegum Crisis and Dominion to this country, and later into the 90s, even Ranma½ too!

AnimEigo and MediaOCD produced this work, and learning about the challenges involved made me want to follow the project to its current state. I’m unsure if this series will go that far, but I will wait for those episodes. I’m also sure that at some point, the host will find someone to talk to from Harmony Gold to discuss Robotech and the embargo they once had to stop the original Macross series from appearing in North America.

Northlore is more about getting back to Nature than anything else. When Knowledge Keepers Gary Sidney Johnson, Elisabeth Pilon, Melissa Matheson, Michael Code, and Dennis Shorty are talking about what they have done to preserve the Yukon, it’s easy to understand why they want to do more to spread the word than just reconnecting to their roots. Some of them have native ancestry and others hail from other shores where having a special connection is important. Many cultures share this belief. For example, the Celts valued working with the land.

And how they reconnect varies. Whether the activity is recreational, it doesn’t matter. This land is home to many secret wonders. One simply has to explore to find them! While some of these individuals are survivalists, others are just everyday folks who’ve found a renewed connection with this land. It’s a rugged landscape full of geological wonders.

My Husband The Cyborg. What Can Go Wrong?

There’s more of a love story than discussion in what it means to be My Husband the Cyborg.

Unlike other documentaries which explore the trans-humanism experiment, My Husband the Cyborg is light on the reasons behind why anyone wants to get electronic implants. The changes it can cause to the psyche can not be reversed. Ultimately, this work is more about the love Susanna Cappellaro (who directed and produced) has for Scott Cohen. This filmmaker’s vow of devotion, to be true in good times and bad, in sickness and in health, is heartwarming.

In this film, few medical professionals will put machine parts inside a human body. The only exception is to replace worn out bones. Just because a person wants to be more machine than man, they’ll have to reach out to the shadier sides of the profession. And although the people there seem nice, I would not trust any place that isn’t certified!
