Weighing in on Nintendo’s Latest Two Dimensional Offering

At least with the consoles that are out there, Mario, Luigi, Donkey Kong, Zelda and Link show that they can be enjoyed on any gaming device Nintendo is selling.

super_mario__nintendo_1280x960Nintendo enthusiasts now have a menu of portable hardware options to choose from: they can go 2D, 3D or XL. Each unit has their pros and cons, but as for whether or not their newest unit, the 2DS, will fly hinges on the upcoming Christmas shopping season.

The unit is essentially a stripped down version of the 3DS. The third dimension is being tossed out the door since medical experts are saying that can hinder the development of young eyes. But the big question is if the MSRP of $129.99 the right price? Maybe, in a nearly tax-free shopping zone of Alberta (Oregon for American shoppers) or a weekend when sales tax isn’t applied to purchases. Within Canada, the electronics tax may well be a hindrance than a god-send in select regions that have implemented this measure to deal with electronic waste.

Bradley Cooper in talks to be the Voice of Rocket Raccoon?

And as for whether or not this night time hunter will work on the big screen, early leaked trailers shows that any fears or qualms of Rocket Racoon failing has been mulched.

CooperGuardians of the Galaxy may well be Marvel Entertainment’s next big thing. But when viewers are not all that acquainted with the hodge-podge cast of the galaxy’s greatest warriors, raccoons included, just who is going to voice this angry beaver?

First, newcomers to this series should not equate this alien being to any earth animal — even if the beaver is of a different species. The voice that may emerge out of this alien species that resembles a raccoon may well be that of Bradley Cooper.

Videogame Movies, A Look Back on the Good, Bad and The Ugly.

These videogame movies are memorable because at some point in time, they’ll be broadcast television for all the world to see.

Videogame Movies - Mario Bros.In the past three decades Hollywood has recognized the appeal of adapting popular video games to film. They provide a ready-made audience of fans who will most likely see them, and some have become cult classics. These videogame movies are memorable because at some point in time, they’ll be broadcast television for all the world to see. Usually the adaptation is a fun romp in the director’s part in translating pixels to a more realistic product. More often than not, the video game’s appeal is missed in the translation and critics and fans are quick to point out what’s missing in the film. In this look at the worst of what cinema had to offer, maybe they are gems after all:

As any fan and they will say that Super Mario Bros (1993) was mostly disliked even though it had achieved a cult following. This movie starred Bob Hoskins as Mario and John Leguizamo as Luigi. Turning the bad guys into gangsters was appropriate in what would otherwise be a fantasy film set in an alternate Earth world. To entirely base the movie on the mythology established in the Mario games would have been disastrous, especially in a decade when digital special effects was in its infancy.

The Future of CGI Films: Creating True Photo-Realism

James Cameron may invest into this new system of rendering CGI films f he truly wants to remain ahead of the game

CGI Films and UnchartedIf keen observers of video game cinematics and CGI films think the computer graphics look great now, especially in how cloth material and hair are rendered, the next wave is going to be amazing.

The science behind how these surfaces are rendered have been restudied and restructured in such a way, where if there was a real world analogy: the way any type of thread is weaved on a loom in specific patterns is what the team of computer engineers from the Jacobs School of Engineering/UC San Diego looked at, but at a microscopic level. What they have discovered is a simpler method which matches this real world analogy and the ‘virtual threads’ are more cylindrical.

Some scary updates with Dreamworks’ next project: The Bureau of Otherworldly Operations

Seth Rogan and Melissa McCarthy will lead The Bureau of Otherworldly Operations investigations in DreamWorks latest project.

www.indiewire.com_-600x421Feb 2023 update: Although this film has not been officially cancelled, there is a petition on Change.org to get this work back on track and we hope that it can be finished. The concept is solid, and we certainly want to see it! Maybe they’re waiting for after the next Ghostbusters film to guage interest?

Original Article:

One of Dreamworks Animation’s next projects is B.O.O. (Bureau of Otherworldly Operations) which is scheduled for June 5, 2015 release.

For fans of this studio’s works, this one is sounding all too familiar. Maybe this movie is taking ideas from the aborted scripts originally intended for Ghostbusters 3, or it may be inspired from recent films from past months, like R.I.P.D. Other influences may be in store, but very little information has been released about a film that is set for release two years down the road.

The concept of ghosts fighting ghosts is nothing new. More films from out of Asia (especially in Hong Kong cinema) have suggested that the hero has to become a member of the undead in order to fight forces beyond his control.

Transformers Prime: “Deadlock” Between What the Fans Want and the Series Concluding… (or not?)

Sadly, Transformers Prime has come to the end with this finale and we take a look at what made it special, along with notes in what’s coming.

BumblebeeFans of Transformers Prime will no doubt laugh, cheer and cry while watching “Deadlock,” the finale to the television series. It does a good job at providing a climax that viewers have waited for but it is not a definitive conclusion. While fans will see a be-all end-all showdown between Optimus and Megatron, the surprise this episode brings will get many fans applauding.

But this season fell short to being grandiose or as a successor to the wildly spectacular season two. At least this season had its moments with “Plus One,” “Chain of Command” and “Thirst.” The rest was basically one huge movie being cut up into chunks to fit into a weekly dramatic schedule.

When considering one lingering story thread has not been addressed, the fight is not over yet. Ever since Optimus suggested that Smokescreen should be the next Prime, this plot point mostly gets forgotten when this rookie decides its best to remain who he is than to rise above his station.
