The concept is solid, and we certainly want to see it! Maybe they’re waiting for after the next Ghostbusters film to guage interest?

One of Dreamworks Animation’s next projects is B.O.O. (Bureau of Otherworldly Operations) which is scheduled for June 5, 2015 release.

For fans of this studio’s works, this one is sounding all too familiar. Maybe this movie is taking ideas from the aborted scripts originally intended for Ghostbusters 3, or it may be inspired from recent films from past months, like R.I.P.D. Other influences may be in store, but very little information has been released about a film that is set for release two years down the road.

The concept of ghosts fighting ghosts is nothing new. More films from out of Asia (especially in Hong Kong cinema) have suggested that the hero has to become a member of the undead in order to fight forces beyond his control.

Although this film project cannot be judged yet since it is still early in its development cycle, the excitement has to come in the news that Hasbro is teaming up to help develop products to help sell this film. The toys can get interesting especially if they glow in the dark or have a built-in light up device from within to make them self-illuminating. That can make chasing down creatures of the night fun, and that sounds like the direction this movie will be going. And this film is drawing a an interesting group of voice talent.

Seth Rogan and Melissa McCarthy will lead the investigations along with Rashida Jones (Parks and Recreation) and Matt Bomer (White Collar) in The Bureau of Otherworldly Operations.

According to theWrap, “Rogen stars as a new ghost named Jackson Moss who works as an agent at B.O.O., a top-secret government agency that protects humans from evil hauntings. When he and his partner Watts (McCarthy) uncover a plot to destroy B.O.O., they must use their skills to defeat the agency’s Most Wanted Haunter and his powerful ghost army, and save the world.”

Among the crew producing this film will be director Anthony Leonidis (“Igor”), writer Tom Wheeler (“Puss in Boots”), producer Maryann Garger (“Flushed Away”) and executive producer, Gil Netter (“Life of Pi”). While neither of the CGI films made a huge impression to audiences, to have Netter involved will definitely insure B.O.O. will not easily fade away.
