DreamWorks’ Forgotten Island is ready to be found again on both online and home platforms! And this time, it brings folklore to the front!

It seems that reactions are really divided between fans and critics concerning DreamWorks Animation’s Forgotten Island. Overall, despite a few questionable choices, I enjoyed this film. My movie review can be read here. And with it coming to digital and home video, I can check for those easter eggs, find what’s important with freeze frame, and study the extras.

As for the 4K UHD, Blu-ray™ and DVD release, where there’s more value for your buck and better bit rates, that’s Dec 1, 2026 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The theatre company Atomic Vaudeville has been a Victoria, BC, institution since 2004. For those in the know, it is also a place where emerging local talent can find mentorship and opportunities to hone their skills. Some performers have graduated from the Canadian College of Performing Arts; others, I honestly don’t know. But when the team gathers to create its annual Halloween show, I take notice!

This year’s FUN HOUSE sounded like one I had to check out. Although I don’t get to see Atomic Vaudeville every year, I’ve followed with interest ever since 2016. It’s not only because certain luminaries honed their craft here and moved on to establish careers of their own but also they have other events throughout the years.

There’s Mike Delamont (God Is a Scottish Drag Queen), Wes Borg, the comic musician who co-founded Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie before joining the Atomic Vaudeville team, Ingrid Hansen, the puppeteer known for her work on the Fraggle Rock revival, and Trevor Hinton, an actor who appeared in Bones of Crows. The latter is amazing because I’ve seen him perform in numerous genre shows over the years.

A Tale of Two Cities: Arkham and Innsmouth Brings The Ultimate Lovecraftian Miniature Collection to Kickstarter

Questron’s ZombieMania brings more than 400 Lovecraftian character miniatures to Kickstarter with A Tale of Two Cities: Arkham and Innsmouth. The campaign offers individual hobbyists an opportunity to obtain the digital files for personal use.

The Spanish 3D sculpting company Questron‘s ZombieMania has launched A Tale of Two Cities: Arkham and Innsmouth on Kickstarter, and the campaign has already met its funding goal. As for which township is the nicer place to live, only the buyers will know!

Interest in the collection reflects the appeal of character models, which are often hidden behind larger boxed sets. This collection shifts the focus to where it counts, offering more than 400 character miniatures as 31mm STL files for 3D printing. As for where to get them after the campaign ends, only time will tell and if the company changes their plans.

The project also has a commercial objective. While the Kickstarter gives individual backers an opportunity to obtain the digital files for personal use, Questron’s primary goal is to connect with online and physical retailers interested in expanding their miniature ranges. According to the studio, the models will not be available for personal-use purchase after the campaign.

Future availability through its own store will be restricted to commercial licences.

For some time, we have also been releasing our own creations through another Kickstarter account, Generic Miniatures. We have now decided to give our horror figures their own identity and a separate Kickstarter account, ZombieMania. Arkham and Innsmouth is part of this new venture.

The studio’s main objective is to connect with online and physical shops that want to add its figures to their product ranges. The campaign also gives individual backers an opportunity to obtain the digital miniatures for personal use.

Zombies vs. Werewolves: Is Dead Howling Your Halloween Night Out?

A lone werewolf hunts the walking dead in this post-apocalyptic horror from the producers of Dog Soldiers and Terrifier 3. Catch Dead Howling on the big screen at Tubi FrightFest Halloween, then take it home on Digital, DVD and Blu-ray two days later.

Dead Howling DVD CoverOver the years, there have been many pairings and many confrontations. And honestly, I don’t think this combination has been explored before. To see a showdown in a film where zombies are fighting werewolves may well be the thing fans of the crossover have been waiting for, and Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment is going to deliver! Dead Howling will have its UK premiere at Tubi FrightFest Halloween 2026 on October 31. And instead of waiting, it will touchdown on digital, DVD and Blu-ray on November 2. That’s a nice two-day gap between big-screen scares and the couch.

FrightFest Halloween takes over the ODEON Luxe West End in London, and the film will screen twice on Halloween Day. If you miss the first showing, you get another shot. Brutal action, nightmarish monsters and a bleak, lawless wasteland are all on the menu. It’s an all-out clash where the dead and the damned collide.

Hop Along Lovecraft! Why Frogman Returns Is an Epic Cryptid Romp…

Anthony Cousins and John Karsko’s cryptid sequel, Frogman Returns, trades DIY roughness for polish, with a Lovecraft twist and a rival cryptid hunter in Ghostbusters gear. It’s camp, it’s creepy, and it might be the perfect Halloween watch.

Anthony Cousins and John Karsko’s sequel, Frogman Returns, raises the bar for campy parody while delivering a love letter to all things cryptid. What makes this film such a solid sell is how the story captures why we love cryptids more than ghosts. With Halloween approaching, there’s all the more reason to seek this film out!

Although familiarity with the original helps, this sequel works reasonably well as a standalone film. Still, I didn’t think it was fair to review it until I’d tracked down a copy of the original to watch, too, allowing me to make comparisons. Hence the delay to this review. The first film tries to be serious, with very strong The Blair Witch Project influences.

Is The Seoul Guardians a Shocking Thriller or a History Lesson?

Three broadcast journalists turned directors revisit the December 2024 night South Korea’s lawmakers raced to lift martial law. In The Seoul Guardians, here’s how the footage holds up as a thriller, and why it brings Tiananmen Square to mind.

The Seoul Guardians Movie PosterUnless viewers are already in the know, what The Seoul Guardians does is look back at a crisis that took place in South Korea on December 3, 2024, when then-President Yoon Suk Yeol declared emergency martial law and attempted a self-coup. He accused the political opposition of collaborating with North Korea, and in order to prevent lawmakers from entering and voting to lift martial law, he ordered police and military forces to seal off the National Assembly.

To an outsider, this was a moment that changed how the world looked at this nation. Whether outsiders reacted with xenophobia or something much worse, there are insights to be had. Broadcast journalists turned directors Kim Jong-woo, Kim Shin-wan, and Cho Chul-young documented everything, cinéma vérité style, and what’s presented is bold. The people with the power to lift martial law were scaling walls and roofs. A quorum must be made in order to get anywhere, and when push comes to shove, that’s when this work starts to earn its wings.
