On Saturday, October 29, don your scariest costume and make your way to the museum for the Halloween dance party of the season. And this event’s host has the following to say:

Dear friends — we, the sentient machines that have taken over your beloved MoPOP, humbly invite you to our Ha11oween bash. Please consider this as nothing more than a celebration. It is in no way a trap. Or a Red Wedding. Dance your flesh off to the hypnotic pulsing rhythms. Lose your cares and decision-making capabilities in a fruity glass of fermented liquids. Scream for your life in an escape room built solely for your amusement. And party like it’s your last night on earth. Because it won’t be. We promise.

Seattle’s The Museum of Pop Culture May Calender is Nearly All Hands On!

The Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) in Seattle, WA recently announced the reopening of its popular hands-on Sound Lab exhibition, and their May schedule of events is huge!

Also announced is the Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design exhibit will open June 18, featuring more than 60 works from films such as Black Panther, Do the Right Thing, Selma, Malcolm X, and more. Also coming are the following events:

To kick off “Forever Young: Popular Music and Youth Across the Ages”—this year’s special virtual version of Museum of Pop Culture’s Pop Conference 2020, spanning three consecutive weeks—MoPOP today announced that the Conference keynote conversation would feature seven-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter Alanis Morissette. MoPOP’s annual Pop Conference, first held in 2002, mixes together ambitious music discourse of every kind to bring academics, critics, musicians, and dedicated fans into a collective conversation. This year’s conference was delayed this past spring due to the on-going global health crisis, but returns this month as a purely digital format. There’s No Summertime Blues because of Emerald City Comic Con Delay

Emerald City Comic ConNobody should be surprised that Emerald City Comic Con 2020 is officially cancelled. ReedPOP realized that with all the chaos going on in the state of Washington and border closures still in effect for some countries–which is not likely to lift in time to make plans–the decision is for the best. When no proper announcements in the month of June, most fans easily guessed this event is not going to happen.

Instead, to keep people happy, a limited type of virtual event will take place.

We’re still here though! We will be putting on a digital event in August to support exhibitors and connect fans with as much of the content you love as possible. For more information on what is available digitally now, our next physical show in Seattle, and everything in between, keep up with Emerald City Comic Con’s social channels and YouTube.com/ReedPop.

All tickets transferred from ECCC March 2020 to August 2020 will be automatically refunded by June 29, 2020; no action is needed on your part. We will have more information on 2021 tickets and their on-sale date in the Fall.

ECCC will return. We will connect with our favorite artists and creators again. We will cheer for our heroes again. We will discover new fandoms and meet new friends again. We will wear and take pictures of awesome cosplay again. We will celebrate what we love with each other again.

Our hearts, as always, remain with you all. Thank you for sticking with us. Thank you for your patience. Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe, stay healthy and take care of yourselves and each other.

Stay Safe Seattle. Emerald City Comic Con Postponed!

Emerald City Comic ConEmerald City Comic Con wants to make sure attendees stay safe and has finally announced it is postponed. With news of more people being infected by the coronavirus and Seattle perhaps being a hotbed (being part of a major flight route is technically bad), this massive convention will refund everyone who bought tickets.

People who have booked a hotel through the convention’s website are advised to phone them to cancel and don’t wait. Not every accommodation will do this automatically. They have records to see how you’ve booked and edit. Most airlines in affected thoroughfares are either automatically cancelling or will nix the usual fee in light of the global situation.
