Ideas on How to Change Netflix’s The Electric State for the Better

Despite all the star power used to get fans of post-apocalyptic tales excited for The Electric State, this film generally falls flat for its execution, but I got ideas on how to salvage it.

Spoiler Alert

The Electric State is not an entirely terrible film. Had The Russo Brothers taken more creative liberty and came up with adding a horrific element, I’d love it! When the robots in this film made me think of those from the cinematic adaptation of Five Nights at Freddy’s, just what I imagined up would have been even more thrilling! But when this work is based on the work of another talent’s work, I have to wonder if Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag would approve.

While this work fails as being a road trip movie, where Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown) leaves her foster home to search for Chris (Woody Norman), at least parts of the world building are done right. And when she knows her brother is a genius in science and robotics, this can lead to problems in the long run. Someone can take advantage of him. In what he knows about combining the two, nobody or no device can be safe.

When Will Part-Time Comix’ The Drumsticks of Doom, Volume 2 Come Out?

When heavy metal and the supernatural go hand to hand, Drumsticks of Doom has everything a comic book reader would want! And the second issue of its sophmore series is coming soon!

Drumsticks of Doom Alt CoverWhen the talents behind the comic book, Drumsticks of Doom, are also musicians, this tribute perhaps inspired by Nelvana’s Rock & Rule is outstanding! Dan Dougherty (Touching Evil) and Jon Westhoff (Part-Time Comix) created a series which is very indie, and although this introduction has the feel of a starter project, I would like to know more.

And to find out what this team had previously done, I found YouTube videos of Dan’s concerts. He’s quite the talent (see below), and for Jon, all I found were interviews.

When Aaron Poole’s Film Dada is More Than Just Arthouse

There’s no easy way to categorize what Aaron Poole’s movie, Dada, is about. Just watch it for the experience.

When actor turned filmmaker Aaron Poole is making his directorial debut in Dada, this is a movie I have to check out. This talent doesn’t limit himself to genre works. When I know him for his work in The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh and The Void, I’m taking a chance at what this film he wrote and directed is going to be about.

In what I read from an interview published in Variety, “The story is a love letter and a suicide note. It was written in response to being a single father and scraping out a living in entertainment while living in a country with a history of violence and resource extraction.”

Making A Heavier Trip to Experience Europe’s Heavy Metal Scene is Well Explored Here!

Finland’s most Death Metal Comedy Heavier Trip is streaming, and no prior knowledge is required. Just enjoy the ride and you’ll be a headbanger too in no time!

Mild Spoiler Alert

The most notable cameo in Heavier Trip is that this film also marks Babymetal’s debut on the cinematic stage! And it’s not about seeing them sing, but also having speaking lines. I avoided looking at trailers, and to find them in this sequel to Heavy Trip is a pleasant surprise.

Fans all over the world, from Finland to Japan, love heavy metal, and those who haven’t explored its many subgenres should. But for the Death Metal group Impaled Rektum, their story continues from where the last movie left off. Turo (Johannes Holopainen), Jynkky (Antti Tuomas Heikkinen), Pasi (Max Ovaska), and Lotvonen (Samuli Jaskio), while in prison, pass the time by providing more entertainment than The Blues Brothers did during their incarceration.

When You Can Save Venom The Last Dance For Me, There’s No Need to Hold Anyone Tight

Although The Drifter’s song was not intentionally referenced, anyone paying attention to the last moments of this final instalment of the Venom The Last Dance will certainly be thinking about this tune!

Venom The Last Dance Movie Poster
Saving the best bits of lore for the finale is perhaps why I liked Venom The Last Dance over the other two films. Although this alien ooze’s personality is not changed since the start, where he’s basically a bombastic young kid, I’m amazed at how well Tom Hardy can pull double duty and bring that out even more. This character was originally voiced by Brad Venable and to still see him get partial credit is great. And to watch how this actor can balance between performing against himself is a clear demonstration of his versitile talent.

And at long last, the secrets of the ooze (the alien symbiote) are revealed! Knull is some dark god who said that he created them, but when they saw “The Light,” they rebelled and exiled their creator. It’s a fantastic start to a mythology and when he’s produced another race, the Xenophage, to exact revenge (they’re his new heralds), all I can say it’s about time this film is diving deep into the comic book lore!

The Road Trip Movie About Never Surrendering! Gracie and Pedro: Mission Impossible, A Movie Review.

What do you get when you pair a dog and cat who seem to never get along? Well, Gracie and Pedro better team up if they are to cross the road, and find their way home to their loving human family!

Gracie and Pedro Movie PosterIn an adventure that almost mirrors The Secret Life of Pets, Gracie and Pedro: Mission Impossible are a different type of beast. That’s because of the subtitles, and it does imply a super spy adventure! Sadly, it’s not and that’s okay. The idea here is to show just how difficult the task is for pets to find their way back to their owners! Here, Gracie (Claire Alan) and Pedro (Cory Doran) aren’t exactly the best of friends, and they have to be the best of friends in order to locate where home on the range is.

After this domesticated canine and a streetwise feline manage to get lost in transit on the flight to their new forever home, things go from where am I, and how can we find Salt Lake City? The cat fears the worst, because she’s a rescue kitty with memories of how she got abandoned. I can’t blame her for fearing the worst.

Thankfully, Sophie (Bianca Alongi) has a plan after the airlines lost her pets. Her can-do attitude is infectious. She created a viral video asking people to help find where her pets have gone. And because they lost their collars, finding them will be tough! As for why they aren’t chipped, well, that’s a question only the writing team behind this film can answer!
