Bouquet of Flowers Honours Arihiro Hase’s Birthday

At last year’s Macross World Convention in Torrance, California, it was learned Japanese voice actress Run Sasaki (Vanessa; The Super Dimension Fortress Macross) was collecting donations from North American fans for a worthy cause. Her intent was to present a bouquet of flowers to the mother of her former co-star, Arihiro Hase (Hikaru Ichijyo). Hase who joined the cast of Macross at the young age of 17 took his own life at the age of 31 by leaping from his 7th floor apartment on the morning of July 30, 1996. Sasaki chose April 22nd (Japan time) for the flower presentation because of its significance. It is the birthday of Hase who would’ve been 51 years old.

Flying Dog Confirms First Haruka Chisuga Live Concert!

Flying Dog, the record label owned by Japan’s Victor Entertainment, have confirmed Haruka Chisuga’s debut live concert “First Try!” The concert will take place at the Shibuya Duo Music Exchange in Tokyo July 9th and will be in support of Chisuga’s 1st full album “Try!”

Chisuga is both a singer and a voice actress who found fame in 2012 by winning the Miss Macross 30 contest. Chisuga earned the role of Mina Forte in the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) game Macross 30: Voices Across the Galaxy. The game would commemorate 30 years of Shoji Kawamori’s Macross franchise. The game featured every animated series of the franchise up to that point. Chisuga continued her success by performing in the animated series of Aquarion Logos (Kokone Kikogami), Owari no Seraph (Mikaela Hyakuya), and Gakusen Toshi Asterisk (Sylvia Lyyneheym).

Haruka Chisuga’s debut full album, “Try!”, will be released June 22, 2016. “First Try!” will be performed Saturday, July 9th. Doors open at 4pm. Curtain is at 5pm.

[Trailer] Crowdfunding Ocassus – A New War on Earth

Hints of what was to be a fan video predating the alien invasion in Macross (Proyecto Valkiria) can still be detected in Cesar Turturro’s Ocassus. This director and executive producer’s original idea to make a fan film was shot down by the Zentraedi forces over at Harmony Gold and in re-imaging his idea, he’s come up with a better story that mixes in traces of District 9 in a war-torn world with Pacific Rim in an epic fight within an action-packed feature-length film which includes a theory that these giants once walked amongst us long ago. Ancient Alien theory is always cool, and perhaps these creatures were once the Nephilim of lore.

This project is seeking crowdfunding to finish the movie. This film is at a halfway point of being done. Ideas need to be expanded upon and the hope is to bring in some added names to give it the recognition this movie deserves. The hope is to have this made for release by the Summer of 2017.

AnimeJapan 2016: Macross Delta News and New Merchandise

MacrossDeltaPromo AnimeJapan 2016 (formerly known as the Tokyo International Anime Fair) is happening at Tokyo Big Sight in the Ariake District. And you will probably hear a few good things come out of the con this year. The event runs March 25-27 (the 25th is for registered members of industry and media only). So far day one has provided some interesting information according to Macross Delta fans. Delta Mechanical Designer Shōji Kawamori has confirmed that the Delta character Mirage is the daughter of Miranda Jenius, Max and Milia Fallyna Jenius’ 6th daughter.

Wind up Geek’s Cool Japan: Macross 7 Mylene’s Birthday Party

FireBomber In Tokyo on Saturday night (January 30th), a party was held to celebrate the birthday of Mylene Flare Jenius, the bassist and backing singer for the band Fire Bomber from Macross 7. Attending this event was none other than Mica Okudoi and Tsutomu Takayama (Hibiki Kanzaki of Super Dimensional Fortress Macross II: Lovers Again). The lucky person who took these photos (Gwyn Campbell) had a front row ticket, and I agree with one of the Macross Fans- US members when he said Mylene’s outfit is not designed to be worn by a full-grown woman. But seriously, I’m sure it wouldn’t bother the male otakus that much.
