Actress Nao Tōyama who is behind the voice of Reina Prowler from the hit Japanese anime series Macross Delta will make her debut as a solo artist. Tōyama who’s voiced characters from such anime series as Hataraku Maou-sama! (はたらく魔王さま!, The Devil is a Part-Timer) and Ai Tenchi Muyou! (愛・天地無用!) will release her first single “True Destiny/Chain the world” on February 1, 2017 under the Flying Dog Label.
Yesterday Flying Dog released through their official YouTube channel the 2chorus music video promoting the single “True Destiny.”

MacrossWorld’s official Facebook page has announced the return of MacrossWorld in 2016. This event will be held at the Torrance Cultural Arts Centre in Torrance, California on Saturday, October 15th. There will be cosplay performances, an amazing dealer’s room, special guests, and lower registration prices. There will also be tasty Japanese comfort food available from the Okamoto Kitchen food truck.
No official invitations have gone out yet for this event but that hasn’t stopped voice actors Brett Weaver and Richard Epcar from expressing interest in attending.
The soundtrack to the animated television series Macross Delta has taken the second highest ranking on Japan’s Oricon music chart since debuting July 6th. Within it’s first week the album Walküre Attack! performed by Macross’ voice actors under the group name Walküre, sold 78,000 copies. Walküre’s first album single, “ICHI DO DAKE NO KOI NARA” (一度だけの恋なら)/”RUN GA PIKATTO HIKATTARA” (ルンがピカッと光ったら), has sold 36,000 copies since it’s release on May 11th. The single climbed to #18 this week on the Anime CD Singles chart. It recorded a previous best of 3rd spot in late May.

Thousands of people have contracted Macross fever after attending today’s Walküre Mini Live event at the Lazona Kawasaki Plaza in Saiwai-ku, Kawasaki. The event was free and 2000 lucky fans came away with post meet and greet tickets (which could be purchased with the CD single) on top of the experience of the 4 song performance that Walküre gave right from the Rufa Hiroba Grand Stage. But the best part of the day was the announcement of Walküre’s full length album titled “Walküre Attack!” to be released July 6th of this year. The CD will contain a total of 12 songs from the Macross Delta animated series and will retail for around ￥2,900 plus tax. Buyers will also have the option to purchase a limited edition CD/DVD combo at around ￥3,500 plus tax. The accompanying DVD will contain the music video of Delta’s opening song “Ichido dake no Koi nara” (一度だけの恋なら).
Amazon Japan is listing 9 volumes of Macross Delta (マクロスΔ) to be released on limited edition Blu-ray and DVD. Volume 1 will be sold July 22, 2016 and Volume 9 will be released March 24th of next year. Volume 1 will contain the first three episodes. Among the extras will be a special version of episode 1, commentary by cast and crew, a 40 page special booklet, Luxury art box and inner sleeve designed by character designer Majiro, special sleeve case drawn by Macross visual artist Hidetaka Tenjin, and English subtitles. There is no indication volumes 2 – 9 will contain extras. DVDs will retail for ￥8,424 ($76.25 USD, $100.04 CAD) and Blu-rays for ￥7,344 ($66.45 USD, $87.20 CAD) on Amazon Japan.
Bandai Visual is listing a Blu-ray box set for the retail price of ￥70,200 ($635.44 USD, $833.84 CAD). Buyers will be able to get their hands on the first volume July 22nd with each additional volume being released over the period of a year (the final volume will be sold March 24, 2017). A set bonus of a 1/72 scale plastic model will be included with the shipment of the final Blu-ray. Again only Volume one indicates English subtitles.
