Defrosting The Difference In Ghostbusters Frozen Empire 4k and Blu-ray Release

it’s safe to say when these new films wraps up its trilogy or tetralogy, Ghostbusters Frozen Empire may well be the starting point for spinoffs.

Ghostbusters Frozen Empire Sets
Now available to purchase on Amazon USA and other outlets.

Ghostbusters mania is back again, and with the home video release of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, Sony Entertainment isn’t offering a brand-new collector’s collection this time ’round. I’m not sure if I want to get another Ultimate Collection, but the limited edition set was tempting. But an ice cube maker isn’t enough.

It’s tough to top the box set created to resemble a ghost trap; to offer space for this disc would have been great. All anyone has to do is to take out the booklet, but is that breaking things up?

With The Crow’s 30th Anniversary 4K Release, What’s There to Caw At?

In 4K, watching The Crow at home is a treat! But if you don’t have the right rig, it’s best to see the limited release before the reboot arrives.

The Crow as a Steelbook
Available to purchase on Amazon USA

Alex Proyas’s best known movie is celebrating a pearl anniversary and Paramount Pictures is rewarding fans with a special edition! The steelbook edition is beautiful to look at and ultimately, the ony significant difference between this and the regular edtion are the postcards that are included. Although some comic book movie viewers may consider The Crow as a simple bleak revenge fantasy, there’s more to it than just that.

Some information needs to be said, though. Not everyone is familiar with this film’s origins: creator James O’Barr, came up with the idea as a way to cope. His fiancée died because of a reckless individual, who happened to be drunk that night happened. She was the love of his life, and to channel his angst into a medium in the narrative he created must have been tough. To adapt it to film, however, must mean understanding what he went through. After creating a character Batman might be afraid of, to keep ongoing is tough. Although Tim Burton’s take was released in 1989, both works influenced later comic book films still to come.

In Ghost Keeper, You Are The Lord and Master Everyone Needs To Be Afraid Of!

It’s rare to offer a videogame where you can be the bad guy, and Ghost Keeper is perfect to be that creature to rule them all!

Ghost Keeper Title CardAlthough I was not aware of the video game, Ghost Master, back when it was released back in 2003, to wait more than twenty years for a sequel feels unusual. BLUM Entertainment and Quest Craft‘s upcoming Ghost Keeper looks better than the original (after looking at YouTube gameplays), and the fact it’s set in 19th-century Victorian England is one way to catch my interest! I also get the feeling it’s also vibing on the tropes Disney’s Haunted Mansion made famous.

Here, the idea is to play the role of a mighty leader of the unknown. Players get to order spirits around and hopefully scare the bejesus out of those humans who’ve decided to make the mansion you control their home. The problem is that a few of them know a thing or two about the occult, and there’s even what looks like a ghostbuster who can ruin a player’s day.

I rather like the idea to play the role of the “bad guy,” and in this sim, the question of whether other ghosts will obey is a story I always wanted to see happen. There’s been variations of this idea in cinema, but it hasn’t been explored very well or hasn’t come across my radar just yet.

Introducing DSTLRY and the New Wave for Comic Book Afficinados

DSTLRY is ready to take the independent comic book world by storm with even more titles added to their roster of fantastic fiction in their second year of operation.

Time Waits Cover A by Marcus ToDSTLRY is a new boutique comic book publisher that’s a little over a year old, and they’re making waves by promising that the creators have full control of their properties, and 3% of company equity will be distributed amongst them as long as they get ideas released within the first three years. It’ll be based on how well these titles sell, and so far, I’m taking notice!

In their first year of operation, they released titles like Spectregraph by James Tynion IV and Christian Ward and also Somna by Becky Cloonan and Tula Lotay. They’re worth tracking down, and if you’re a fan of modern horror, I feel they’re worth picking up. I’ll offer up reviews of these at a later date, since I don’t feel its fair to offer up impressions after a single read. These creators put in a lot of effort to layer in more than just a simple visual narrative, and I want to do justice in what I’m discovering upon successive reads.

Don’t Be Tormented with Film Master’s latest Release

Although Tormented is very much a product of the times, a budget B-movie, there’s something to appreciate about this home video release as it looks into why Bert I. Gordon should be remembered.

Available to purchase on Amazon USA

The next hailed master of cult cinema the Film Masters are looking at is Bert I. Gordon, and to decide on which movie of his to remaster must have been tough. What’s examined is Tormented, a fairly standard ghost story. Although this filmmaker is best known for The Food of the Gods and other giant monster movies, which is better examined in this home video release’s bonus material, I thought what’s offered here is fitting enough to introduce newcomers to who this person is, and why he’s important.

This film was released back when ghost stories were making a comeback to cinema, and Robert Wise’s The Haunting helped motivate him, I suspect he read a certain story, namely the Tell Tale Heart, to help him know how to direct this work.
