Getting More Into The Mitchells vs the Machines on Home Video

There’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World to be found in The Mitchells vs the Machines. I can rewatch the Netflix film without eating up precious bandwidth, and ‘The Best Features Ever’ is just that. The additional material helped make me appreciate this work a lot more, and to see more Dog Cop helped make my day.

The deleted scenes are more than just short moments. Half of them extend and offer more backstory. I can see why they weren’t brought to production since it’d make the presentation far too long. Other featurettes include “Dog Cop 7: The Final Chapter.” This little film features the family pet, Monchi, dealing with a candy cane crook (appropriate for the season) and love at the same time. It’s animated with sock puppets and a canine stuffed doll with the arms of some actress playing Katie helping animate this beloved pug. To create this work in an opposite style in contrast to the film works for the sake of pretend realism.

LEGO Ninjago and Where to Find The Latest

In the meantime, I’ve been doing a lot of rewatching to see if I can find further clues about where the next season may go.

The_Island_poster_FIXEDEntire Series Available on Netflix

Anyone wondering where to find the latest LEGO Ninjago episodes will have to check Netflix instead of local network times. “The Island” and “Seabound” were once upon a time considered the same season, but changes have been made. According to the fan updated Wiki, the former is considered a miniseries and latter an official season. Niek van Slagmaat revealed on Twitter, “After the specialised launches like Prime Empire and Seabound, the markets asked for a wave with the classic Ninjago identity. We would not get any story continuing content in order to make sure we could get started on 2HY 2022 as early as possible. Thus, Core was born.”

The first two episodes have been released, and can be found on YouTube here.

Top 12 Animated Films to be Excited For in 2022

The following 12 Animated Films are organised according to release date from specific to general that I’m excited to see.

Belle (2021 film) - WikipediaBy Ed Sum
(The Vintage Tempest)

Every year, I’m more excited about what new animated films are coming. This medium offers more storytelling potential than live-action and the budget to realise it shouldn’t be as expensive as trying to create it in live-action. Not every work has its plot known, and for the sake of not spoiling, I won’t go into a lot of detail unless absolutely necessary.

The following 12 Animated Films are organised according to release date from specific to general.

Belle: The Dragon and the Freckled Princess
January 14

This anime about a shy high school girl who finds freedom in virtual reality will certainly speak about today’s obsession with this technology. But as for whether she’s ready depends if she can break free from that digital world and be herself.

Disney’s Encanto Can Only Last So Long…

The future lies with how Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz) has to right all that’s wrong in her home in Disney’s Encanto.

EncantoWalt Disney Animation Studios continuing plan to explore other cultures through their films has always been enlightening even though they aren’t always educational. Their latest, Encanto, is a mixed bag of wonder created by a committee.

Byron Howard, Jared Bush and Charise Castro Smith introduce us to a latino world where mysticism is still practised. The backstory reveals how the Madrigal family became the town’s founders and protectors. A magical hacienda (called a Casita in the film) emerged out of the candle and it’s been protecting this clan for generations, so long as it keeps burning. It’s easy to ignore one factual problem of living in the middle of nowhere and nothing has been said further about those pesky conquistadores.

Afterthoughts on Ghostbusters Afterlife

Not everyone from the original films returned to appear in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. One is Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) and the other is the titular Slimer.

Heavy Spoiler Alert

Not everyone from the original films returned to appear in Ghostbusters Afterlife. Two characters we didn’t get to see Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) and the other is the titular Slimer. The former is understandable as the actor retired a long time ago, to take care of his kids when his wife sadly passed. Though they’re older now, and Moranis has done a few voice-over roles, to convince him to appear on screen requires more than being friends with Ryan Reynolds or what Sony / Columbia Pictures can offer.

Regarding why he declined to appear in the 2016 film, “I hope it’s terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?” he said to The Hollywood Reporter in 2015. His reasoning can apply to this 2020/21 film (delayed due to the pandemic).

It’s A Bold New Ghostbusters Afterlife

Ghostbusters: The Video Game (2009) is an unofficial third film that’s fun to play and perhaps was a massive influence to the events occuring in Ghostbusters Afterlife

Lightning cracks from dark green clouds. People get out of a battered 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Sentinel below and look on.Spoiler Alert

The first Ghostbusters film is a beloved introduction to a ragtag group of scientists kicked out of university for their questionable belief in ghosts. And when they gathered enough spectral data to realize its possible to contain these spirits, this gang turn their idea into a business since they are considered ‘pests.’ With Ghostbusters Afterlife, that story continues.

To recap the first film,  the lovely Dana Barrett hired this team to figure out why her apartment is spook central, and the god they prevented from appearing closed off the movie. Paranormal activity still took place throughout New York State, but it wouldn’t really pick up again until five years have passed.

It wasn’t until Ray Stantz, Egon Spengler, Peter Venkman and Winston Zeddemore had to deal with the spirit of a mad despot trapped in a painting when things truly quieted down. Spengler wasn’t ready to rest and even after this case, he knew there was a grande scheme happening while his teammates believed it was over. Flash forward to Ghostbusters: Afterlife, not everyone remembers the events from decades ago and we see him out on his own, dealing with a huge supernatural threat.
