When Hundreds of Beavers Leave Their Nest, The Road Show Can Only Go So Far, but the Chase Will Be Country-Wide!

Not only do we have dates for when Hundreds of Beavers will hit Digital and Home Video, but it’ll continue to screen at theatres!

Ryland B. Cole Tews and Mike Cheslik‘s Hundreds of Beavers is continuing to invade North America! After a successful film festival run back in 2023 at Fantasia (movie review link), this slapstick maverick film is spreading nation-wide and across two countries. This tour started its run at Minneapolis, MN back on January 26 with a Great Lakes Roadshow, and although newcomers won’t see that outside of the region, my hope is that it was recorded!

If its certified cult status is any indication, perhaps local theatre groups can pick up on the idea and continue in what that crew has started.

Island FanCon is Ready to Hop Onboard the Local Pop Culture Scene This April!

Although the rest of the Pacific Northwest is busy with big city conventions, Island FanCon is expected to deliver a smaller community feel to the scene.

There’s good news for Vancouver Islanders who miss Capital City Comic Con. This week, Victoria News reported that there’s a new show in town, and it’s a township away from the big city! The spokesman for Island FanCon is Lonnie Eckardt. And as for who else behind the scenes is involved, the report does not go into details.

All attendees really know is that it’ll bring some of Prince George’s FanCon experience to locals. That is, there’ll be some anime, comic book, movie and gaming culture involved, and perhaps something to sate the outdoors person. This event will run from April 13 to 14th at City Centre Park (1089 Langford Pkwy) and make use of two buildings–Westhills and Starlight Arena. The City of Langford is a large, bustling, community. As the gateway to this island’s Provincial Parks and Pacific Rim National Park, there’s lots to explore when folks want to enjoy the beauty of nature too.

This show has a lot to get done in the two months. That includes getting more sponsors and finalising who are the featured guests. Having a few celebrity names will be important. Fans like to know what else they can do other than be at meet-ups, take part in panel discussions and, of course, shop.

With Paper Ghost Stories: Third Eye Open There’s No Need to Be Afraid of the Dark (Again)

After Paper Ghost Stories 7PM, what’s next in this franchise is titled Third Eye Open. Just what will you see here?

A new chapter of Cellar Vault Game’s Paper Ghost Stories is here. Titled, Third Eye Open, this latest instalment is guaranteed to chill, and perhaps even cause some gamers to sleep with the lights on. This demo is available on Steam (PC), and will be released to all platforms by Summer 2024.

This award-winning anthology of creepy tales inspired by Malaysian and Chinese myths and culture will unravel even further as gamers take on new challenges. I’ve played the first game (review link) and still have the shivers, thinking back at what I couldn’t accomplish. There were some harrowing moments. And for the latest, there may even be a “Hungry Ghost” component when considering the season.

Instead of A, “The Storm” is Coming From China, and this Animated Marvel Looks Ready to Amaze!

Fans of #donghua will want to check local listings to see if The Storm will be blowing through. It’s easy to miss since it’s not looking like a GKIDS release. This third work directed by Busifan (Zhigang Yang) is worth chasing down!

Trouble is coming in the aptly titled Chinese film, “The Storm,” (大雨) which may well be a metaphor for the chaos that’s enveloping the nation. And for everyone to know their place in it, not only must Daguzi understand what’s befallen upon him, but also somehow protect Mantou. This child looks like he can take care of himself, but honestly, he just wants his father back!

After the two visit a mysterious ship floating in Great Dragon Bay in search for treasure, a curse falls upon him and as for whether he can regain his mortality makes up part of this film’s plot. In the trailer, it’s teased that destiny cannot be changed. Whether that alludes to him or something else, it’s tough to say. Perhaps the reason why he was bitten is a form of punishment like Monkey King’s. This character also makes an appearance.
