Godzilla vs Cthulhu, When a Titan and Great Old One Meets, Does the Phrase “Death May Die.” Matter Anymore?

Everything you want to know about CMON’s Cthulhu: Death May Die but were afraid to ask is answered here, including the upcoming Source Point Press’ comic book adaptation. Godzilla vs Cthulhu, however….

Godzilla vs Cthulhu Death May Die ComicNo knowledge of the game is required to understand Godzilla vs Cthulhu: Death May Die. This comic book released by CMON Games is only sold at specific comic conventions, and as for whether there’ll be a market version, I’m doubtful. This showdown is a concept many fans have asked for. While I’m glad someone has taken up the challenge to write up a story concept of seeing these two fight one another, ultimately, in the end, the payoff was rather disappointing.

Obviously, there can’t be a clear winner (or loser). But c’mon, why can’t we at least see both sides licking their wounds?

While this one-shot written by Jonathan Maberry and illustrated by Bruno Abdias is not the only title set in this Death May Die universe, I have to wonder if any of the comics are meant to one day lead up to how the game ends? What this team wrote felt like a spec product than anything meaningful. Basically, the idea concerns preventing the second coming (of the Great Old Ones). I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Digimon movie that’s as sad as Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning. This film continues after the last. Here, the team meets Lui (Megumi Ogata). This lad says he’s the very first person to become DigiDestined and everyone is surprised.

His story is quite the opposite to others who embrace the role; he never wanted the job, and when he rejects his little pet monster, the way it self-destructs is quite graphic! It was at that moment where I realised this franchise is finally growing up. In addition to learning about why some individuals have a digital partner, there’s also whether everyone really needs one. When there’s a mysterious voice saying everyone should have a Digi-Partner to signal the start of this drama, not everyone agrees.

Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, A Modern Family Comedy than All Out Fantasy

In the long run, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is more about celebrating the game’s 50th anniversary one year early.

Theatrical Poster for Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among ThievesSpoiler Alert

Thankfully, the adaptation of the granddaddy of all role-playing games to cinema lives up to most expectations. At first I wasn’t sure if I’d like Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves because of the trailers. It had more of a Marvel movie vibe than anything else.

The full presentation should have dialled the laughs down, and made the fantasy setting feel a bit more mediaeval. Thankfully, the horror elements are done right. The undead are real, and they are waiting to conquer the Forgotten Realms. The armies of Szass Tam are the evil dead and living beings are needed to make new ones. And when Edgin Darvis (Chris Pine) crosses paths with them, the trouble only gets worse.
