RailGods of Hysterra or Horror on the Orient Express? Either Way, the Latter Has Not Become A Videogame Yet!

Are you daring enough to wait in order to explore and do battle with the Great Old Ones in Railgods of Hysterra?

RailGods of HysterraNo date has been set for RailGods of Hysterra, a cooperative base-building survival action videogame, but it’s safe to say it won’t be like Horror on the Orient Express! This role playing game published by Chaosium Inc., takes months to get through, but for the electronic version from Troglobytes Games, maybe the adventure can be finished over a weekend. And best of all, not all of the action will take place on board a train! Players will have to take to the streets to investigate the strange goings on.

This release from first-time publisher Digital Vortex Entertainment will be available for the PC via Steam and PlayStation 5.

From the Press Release:

Enter a ruined world of ghoulish horrors wrought by the Great Old Ones: ancient cosmic beings beyond human comprehension that took over the world. Survive procedurally generated nightmarish environments, face the wrath of eldritch abominations, and forge a bond with the RailGod – a roaming fortress composed of steel and flesh forged through arcane and obscure rituals.

To say virtual reality is dead depends on which industry giants you ask. As for Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable, now in version 1.0, developers feel ready to unleash a version of this video game to the masses. With a frame rate issues corrected, added platforms to play in and now here as early access. This series ran in the Japanese magazine, Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine (from September 2009 to April 2021), and has since been adapted to anime, live-action, video games and novels featuring other heroes joining in the fight. This latest only adds to the experience by providing a first person perspective that hasn’t been done before.

The Last Time I Saw You Isn’t Easy When A Tsunami Is Closing In

Let’s not forget about the Yokai this Halloween season, and while the scares are light in romantic adventure, The Last Time I Saw You will entertain for a fortnight before the ghosts are unleashed!

Moroboshi ArtworksThe Last Time I Saw You Card

The Last Time I Saw You is a visually beautiful video game that explores the supernatural side of Japan. Here, players must attempt to save a village from a natural disaster. This nicely designed side-scroller may be light on the RPG side, but I’m sure the choices made matter. I’m confident the goal is to avert another typhoon ready to assault this sea-side community!

Here, players are assuming the role of Ayami. He’s a very precocious boy who has certain tasks to do each day. But when a storm is slowly coming, Ayami must balance what he needs to do versus simply exploring. This helped me get familiar with where everything is, and that includes the friends and strangers this kid meets.

But when a mysterious older girl appears in this boy’s dreams, that can spell trouble. I thought she might be a crush at first. But as other details emerged during play, I suspect there’s more to her than meets the eye. Part of the game involves figuring out who she is, and why she saved him from attacking ghosts that look like Gastly from Pokémon. That’s how the game starts, and as for what other nasties are hiding in the forest, that’d be saying too much.

Halloween is Here with BAN: The Prologue of GUCHA GUCHA, The Videogame

Nostalgic Horror Adventure “BAN: The Prologue of GUCHA GUCHA” Haunts Steam on October 23, 2024! And for those who don’t get the pun, this one will ‘get ya’ (or that say gotcha?) hiding under the sheets!

Ban The Prologue of Gucha GuchaFans of Japanese Horror will want to check out BAN: The Prologue of GUCHA GUCHA! This gore filled treat looks like it’s honouring more than the craziness that’s found in Haus, but I feel there’s a lot more going on in this third-person psychological horror adventure developed by IchimatsuSuzuka. Published by Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab, this creepy looking video game will become available on Steam (PC) just days before Halloween!

After a strange creature assaults and kidnaps college student Garasu Yuki’s beloved dog Chocolat, she has only one lead: a slithering entity beneath the ground. To reunite with Chocolat, Yuki ventures into the dark depths of Mt. Utaga as night falls. Unveil the quiet town’s horrifying history while avoiding the monstrosities along the road.

From the Press Release:

As the story unfolds, the protagonist shifts to a young boy carrying his little sister through endless, identical corridors. Dodge the lethal attacks of a blood-soaked pursuer wielding a Japanese sword while searching for an escape route. As the clock winds down, help the boy and his sister navigate a way out for even the slimmest chance at survival.

Kitsune Games is releasing major updates and offering new stuff for those who love Kitsune Tails, a retro-style platformer. The reason it’s doing so well is not only because of its colourful graphics but also its LGBTQ representation. In why we love it here is because of how well the folklore from Japan is weaved into the storyline.

They announced expanded Steam Workshop support (custom levels!) at the simple click of a button, release of an official soundtrack, and new quality-of-life features within the game!

From the Press Release:

The Steam Workshop update comes with a number of quality-of-life features, including new Speedrun Timers and a much-requested post-game character swap option. Pick up the OST by composer Jorge Saldías on Steam now for $4.99, or in a new Deluxe Edition bundle for $22.49.
