Galaxy Express 999 The Complete TV Series

Available to preorder on Amazon USA

After decades of half-available sets, fuzzy fansubs, and waiting on stars to align in hopes there’s a complete set release than part, Galaxy Express 999 the animated series is officially making its full journey to Blu-ray. MediaOCD‘s online shop has listed this 113-episode TV series, and it’s ready to ride November 25, 2025! This title is from Discotek and it replaces prior releases which only offered part of the story.

For a certain generation, they most likely saw the theatrical version. There’s a lot of content deleted for a sleek take on a very melancholy tale. The train made dozens of stops, saw the characters like Tetsurō and Maetel slowly mature and Count Mecha—well, that’s a detail best not spoiled. And for many, they may well say this anime was when they were first introduced to Captain Harlock!

Black Jack — The Complete OVA is Set To Strike This December!

Osamu Tezuka’s legendary surgeon returns to the operating table as MediaOCD revives Black Jack — The Complete OVA Series in HD. Directed by Osamu Dezaki, this moody, gothic medical drama cuts deep into questions of morality, justice, and the human soul.

MediaOCDBlack Jack BD Cover has two animated works based on Osamu Tezuka’s past catalogue that will hit home video next year. There’s Black Jack — The Complete OVA Series which will release Dec 16, and sometime next year, A Time Slip of 10,000 Years: Prime Rose, as previously reported.

In revisiting this series, it’s hard not to think of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Both characters are outcasts wielding their instruments of precision—scalpels and razors—as tools of both justice and transgression. Where Sweeney’s craft descends into vengeance, Tezuka’s rogue surgeon walks a more ambiguous line, dissecting not only flesh but the moral anatomy of humanity itself. The OVA’s moody, surgical-gothic tone channels the same sense of tragic artistry—each operation a question of what it truly means to save a life.

From the Press Release:

A riveting “Dr. House meets the X-Files” style medical drama based on the bestselling 1970s manga series by Osamu Tezuka, the Black Jack OVAs depict the adventures of a mysterious but extraordinarily talented physician who solves the most challenging medical cases…for a price. These episodes expanded the popular Black Jack anime franchise and were directed by the legendary Osamu Dezaki, a cofounder of Studio Madhouse. The OVAs were celebrated for breathtaking animation, drama, and use of innovative directing techniques.

Labrynth TalesAutumn’s creeping in and the anime leaves are turning — which means it’s the perfect time for a dive into something mysterious, uncanny, or just a little weird. This Top Spooky Anime picks list is not full-on horror (we’ll save the jump scares for later), as some of it began early in the Summer. However, since some folks began planning even then, what this list considers are our top spooky anime picks while daylight is still lingering on the horizon during those late nights.

Crunchyroll’s Fall slate is here, and what I present is a cumulation of what started over the heat wave to the cooling. What’s offered here are a list of lightly eerie picks that mix guilty-pleasure romcoms with monstrous appetites, ghostly whodunits, and one final-season epic that feels like a superhero reckoning. Please click the titles to go to each show’s launch or announcement page for trailers, cast lists, and exact premiere dates.

Canada Kids Linear TV Collapse Explained – Why Shows Are Vanishing

The Canada kids linear TV collapse has hit Telus Optik, with WildBrain and Family Channel disappearing. YTV is the only major channel left, leaving kids and parents with fewer options. Streaming and global changes are reshaping the way children watch cartoons.

Sad Child with fewer channels TV - Canada Kids Linear TV CollapseThe Canada kids linear TV collapse has finally reached a tipping point with WildBrain and Family Channel disappearing from Telus Optik. They were already gone from Rogers and Bell, and I’m glad I never signed up there. I’ve always enjoyed tuning in for shows like The Loud House, Pokemon, or a random LEGO story, and I’m sad they’ll soon be gone.

The only channel still standing is YTV, which lets animation fans see what’s popular. But this isn’t just a little schedule change — it’s a sign of a bigger problem. For anyone who grew up flipping through children’s TV channels, or for parents who liked simple, pre-set schedules, there are fewer options every year. The “cartoon package” is almost gone. Could something like MeTV Cartoons come to Canada? Maybe, but it’s tricky because of licensing rules.

And the problem isn’t just limited to one country. Kids’ channels around the world are shrinking. In the U.S., Disney Channel and Nickelodeon aren’t what they used to be. The BBC in the U.K. is moving kids’ shows online. Even in Australia and Europe, old channels are being shut down. The way kids’ shows used to reach homes is disappearing fast.

From Past to Future: Revisiting Pac-Man Cartoons and The Uncertain Fate of the Movie

Pac-Man Movie De-RezzingBack in August 2022, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Wayfarer Studios and Bandai Namco Entertainment were developing a live-action Pac-Man movie. Sonic the Hedgehog producer Chuck Williams originated the idea, with Justin Baldoni (Clouds, Jane the Virgin) joining as producer.

Since then, updates have been scarce. By early 2023, news went silent, and by 2025, the project appears stalled. Industry chatter suggests Wayfarer has put it on “internal hold.” Baldoni’s recent legal controversies have added uncertainty. While no official cancellation exists, this movie risks becoming another Hollywood vapourware unless Wayfarer or Bandai Namco retool it.

With the film’s future in doubt, revisiting Pac-Man’s past media ventures feels timely. Do we really need a live-action feature about a spherical alien in our world? Pixels (2015) tried and fell short, with Adam Sandler’s nostalgia trip earning more groans than cheers.

Romeo’s Blue Skies Blu-ray Review: Why This Inspirational Anime Still Shines

Fans of World Masterpiece Theatre will delight in Romeo’s Blue Skies, now available on Blu-ray from MedicOCD/Animeigo’s Ruined Childhoods label.

Romeo's Blue Skies Bluray CaseFans of World Masterpiece Theatre’s series will find much to laugh, cry, and reflect on in Romeo’s Blue Skies. This second release from MedicOCD and Animeigo’s Ruined Childhoods label is a must-have for fans of Japanese adaptations of Western literary classics. After decades of hunting down VHS tapes or low-resolution downloads, I’m thrilled to finally have a clean, high-quality release. Early fan-subbed versions were incomplete or low fidelity, making this Blu-ray a long-awaited treasure.

Based on the 1941 novel Die Schwarzen Brüder (“The Black Brothers,” Amazon link) by Lisa Tetzner and Kurt Held, the story follows a kind-hearted boy growing up in 19th-century Switzerland. When his family falls into poverty, he is forced to sell himself to a man known as Luini, the “God of Death.” Instead of despair, his optimism and courage give the series a uniquely inspirational tone. Experiencing the story visually in full made it far more impactful than reading alone.
