Star Trek Prodigy has Safe Harbour on Home Video This Week with the Release of Season 1, Episodes 11-20!

Thankfully fans can view Star Trek Prodigy in full with the home video release that’s coming tomorrow! It’s certainly worth binging on to recall everything this misfit crew has gone through in attempting to reach The Federation.

Star Trek Prodigy - Season 1, Episodes 11-20 Spread
Available to purchase on Amazon USA

Release Date: Sept 26, 2023

Star Trek Prodigy Season 1 – Episodes 11-20 will soon beam onto home video since it’s no longer on available on Paramount’s streaming service. As expected, the presentation is very crisp and we have a definitive look into the season with the featurettes offered. As for whether more episodes will broadcast on Nickelodeon, who helped produce it, nobody truly knows. Not even Admiral Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) is certain.

Thankfully for this series to boldly go where no series has gone before means the finished first half of season two must play somewhere. Hopefully, sales of this release will show many fans love this series, and the dollar signs will motivate the Hageman Brothers to push for getting their finished batch of season two episodes aired!

In what this release offers is further sub-adventures with Dal R’El (Brett Gray), Gwyndala (Ella Purnell), Jankom (Jason Mantzoukas), Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui), Zero (Angus Imrie), and Murf (Dee Bradley Baker) before finally arriving in the Alpha quadrant. Just how this set shows them finally arriving, and encountering The Federation certainly reveals tension, and as for what happens next, I wish I had a looking glass to tell me what the fate is for this series.

Available Sept 5, 2023 (North America) with a staggered release in International markets.

When watching the entire run of Star Trek: Picard all one in go, the broader story arcs make more sense, and we have that huge finale which defines season three. From seeing him wanting to find answers on whether Data (Brent Spiner playing different roles in this series) made a daughter in season one to visiting an alternate dimension where Picard (Patrick Stewart) a General (i.e. God of War) in season two and to reunite with a son he never knew in the third, that’s just the general outline!

With the home video release of this series, those fans who chose not to subscribe to the streaming services can now enjoy it in full. Thankfully, other specialty stations could broadcast it after the first-run, so I wasn’t behind. While I used my PVR and viewed the run in small batches, to recall what happened in the week prior requires a notebook in order to keep tabs on key narrative beats–especially on tracing why Borg technology is vital. And some bits in my review about season one still holds.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Reflections on Season One Before The Debut of Two

In Canada, Star Trek Strange New Worlds is now available on #homevideo and we can binge watch and offer some analysis on it!

Season Two Begins on June 15, 2023

Arriving just in time before the season two debut of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is the 4K release of season one! It got delayed in Canada, but for those wanting to get caught up before the broadcast of the next season on Paramount Prime, now’s the time!

In what I am preparing for is to remind myself of the continuing story arcs that matter, which also includes what’s happening with Mr. Spock and T’Pring. While that relationship is official, just what this science officer feels for Nurse Chapel has been something of an unusual thorn. I can’t wait to see where this love triangle goes in season two. While “Spock Amok” is a precursor to the penultimate “Amok Time,” just what his feelings are is uncertain. And there’s a lot to read into this update to Spock’s Journey (Ethen Peck). To borrow upon a popular song title, People are Strange, indeed.

However, the real standout is “The Elysian Kingdom.” It’s very familiar, where not only Star Trek’s “Metamorphosis” may have provided the inspiration for its genesis but also there’s Deep Space 9’s “Rumpelstiltskin,” where energy beings are wandering the galaxy and giving hope to those wanting their dreams fulfilled. Had there been a director’s commentary, I’m sure what’s said might suggest a connection and evolution of this cloud entity! What I offer are merely guesses, especially when concerning a series that likes to connect the dots more often than not. Continue reading “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. A Bold New Look with Star Trek’s Strange New Worlds

Star Trek Strange New Worlds is almost a return to form even though it exists within the rebooted Kelvin timeline.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds poster features the classic USS EnterpriseStreaming on Paramount+

Some long time fans of Star Trek might investigate the latest, Strange New Worlds (SNW). It’s almost a return to form. Not everyone will take to it, and I’ve spoken to a few of my friends who are steadfast in their opinion in our nerd chats. To be specific, since it’s part of the rebooted Kelvin timeline, there’s no true link with Gene Roddenberry’s creation.

Co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers wanted to produce Star Trek in the way it was originally done, and this series honours that aspect. The stories have given Captain Pike (Anson Mount), Spock (Ethen Peck) and crew more backstory to character development to appreciate. At least the direction is off to a good start.
