The Crisis on Infinite Earths is beginning tonight, and TheCW’s Supergirl is where it starts! The setup is good enough to resolve a few loose ends never addressed during The Arrow and to make us aware we’re getting a five-act story. That is, we can expect all the rising action happen in The Flash and see the climax in Arrow. Each segment is basically an episode of one of this network’s superhero based shows.
As Barry is convinced he will die in this Crisis, Oliver argues otherwise–especially concerning the deal he made with the Monitor. Most followers know of the demise of the television show that started it all and it’s not surprising that the hero will go out on a literal bang. Spoilers follow. You have been warned.

Some viewers of anime will most likely think Que Sera Cera when looking back at those fond memories offered in Satoshi Kon’s seminal classic Millennium Actress (千年女優). The upcoming home video release this week is perfect for the Holiday season; watching this film is much like catching It’s A Wonderful Life. Both works are classics for a reason.
The anime was the Grand Prize winner in the Japan Agency of Cultural Affairs Media Arts Festival back when it first released in 2002. It also took home the Ofuji Noburo Award at the 2002 Mainichi Film Awards, and honoured with the Orient Express Award at the 2001 Festival de Cine de Sitges.
This rerelease is a remastered which saw limited theatrical release over the summer. For the winter, it will live again.

The news of a miniatures based board game set in Ancient Egypt has me over the moon, if not hovering by Ra (the sun), in anticipation of its eventual Kickstarter launch. The original press release suggested it will launch in late 2019, but with everyone in Christmas mode, I don’t think the listing will appear until early next year.
The images of the demo on Twitter (see below) is merely a tease. After receiving CMON’s Cthulhu: Death May Die board game last week, the super high quality of the minis is as I expected. The Egyptian fanatic in me is hopping! An unboxing video will be coming soon (update: it’s become a review during my editing–the video is here).
The quality of the scale model pieces are amazing and the painter in me can’t wait to give colour to not only the game I currently have but also with adding to my collection. Technically, they’re not usable with other games like Games Workshop’s Warhammer series. Sadly, the Khemri was removed from the game and are deeply buried under the sand. The same can be said for Reaper Miniatures’ Warlord which no longer sees updates.
It’s not ank-hpected (had to say it) that enthusiasts of any game product in this setting desire a quality game, and I can’t wait for CMON to launch this project. I’m sure they are still fine tuning the 3D models for mass production, hence the delay.

Bob Camp is best known for his work with Ren & Stimpy and not everyone may see how similar this 90s show is to SpongeBob SquarePants. As a character designer and storyboard artist, he is one of many people who contributed to both series success. He enjoys being involved with the production in every step–the writing, coming up with the ideas, and developing the characters. He said, “The thing I enjoyed a lot was directing. I got to work with many greats like Billy West, June Lockhart, Dom DeLuise and Frank Gorshin (original Riddler from the 60s Batman).”
To have work that’s unaltered, unfiltered and uncensored is tough. It was hilarious to learn that the team put in tons of red herrings in the ‘toon knowing much of it will get cut. In what got past, the material that got through surprised them.
I spoke to him at length not only at Emerald City Comic Con but also Capital City Comic Con earlier this year. He loves attending these shows throughout the year. You’d think the studio keeps him busy year-round but apparently not! While storyboarding is part of the animation process, just when he is required depends on if he’s needed constantly in the production chain. Plus, I forgot to ask him in that first meeting to find out about Thundercats which is getting reworked (and rescheduled) for a 2020 release. The character designs are a far cry from what he knows.

Plenty of documentaries exploring the growth of heavy metal music exist. Come on Feel the Noize! The Story of How Rock Became Metal is a new feature which goes beyond how the original Slade song started defining a new sound. It hit number one in the UK Singles Chart upon release; the cover by Quiet Riot more than a decade later cemented a style of performance theatre into popular culture. Metal is also a lifestyle, a state of mind. There’s more to it than meets the eye–or rather the rapid rhythms from the drums and melodies squelched out with heavily distorted guitars.
Director Jörg Sonntag and writer Thore Vollert‘s work digs into what being metal is about. Their reveal is reminiscent of the 2018 Dutch film, Heavy Trip. However, this documentary is not simply about lifestyle choices. Instead, it’s on the evolution of the sound.
