The Art of Futurama is Headed to Shelves Next Week!

2024 marks the 25th anniversary of Simpsons creator Matt Groening’s Emmy Award–winning television series, Futurama. Now, Abrams ComicArts, a division of ABRAMS, will publish The Art of Futurama, the first-ever art book to delve into the development and history of the series. This deluxe, 176-page hardcover art book features commentary from Groening, showrunner David X. Cohen, and producer Claudia Katz, as well as from the show’s writers, animators, and voice actors.

Beginning in 1999, Futurama ran for four seasons on Fox, where it earned a devoted and passionate fanbase. In 2009, this series returned for three more seasons before it was cancelled in 2013. Hulu revived the series again in 2022 for its eighth season, and additional seasons have been greenlit. The show has won six Emmys and nine Annie awards and inspired numerous comic books and games. TV Guide named this show one of the Greatest TV Cartoons of All Time.

Fan Expo Vancouver’s Rollout of Guest Announcements is Looking Good!

What who’s on first at Fan Expo Vancouver is a good start, but can we guess what’s on second? (borrowing from Abbott and Costello)

FAN EXPO Vancouver (FXV) has unveiled its first round of exciting guests for their 2025 show and more is expected in the coming weeks! Alan Tudyk, known for his roles in Firefly, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Resident Alien, and A Knight’s Tale will appear on Saturday and Sunday of the con as a featured guest.

Fans of Tudyk’s impressive career won’t want to miss this chance to meet the beloved actor, whose work spans TV, film, and animation.

Additionally, appearances from three voice actors from the popular animated series Hazbin Hotel were announced last week–with Erika Henningsen, Blake Roman, and Amir Talai also making their way to Vancouver this February (the first time they’ve appeared at a con in Canada together!)

Introducing DSTLRY and the New Wave for Comic Book Afficinados

DSTLRY is ready to take the independent comic book world by storm with even more titles added to their roster of fantastic fiction in their second year of operation.

Time Waits Cover A by Marcus To DSTLRY is a new boutique comic book publisher that’s a little over a year old, and they’re making waves by promising that the creators have full control of their properties, and 3% of company equity will be distributed amongst them as long as they get ideas released within the first three years. It’ll be based on how well these titles sell, and so far, I’m taking notice!

In their first year of operation, they released titles like Spectregraph by James Tynion IV and Christian Ward and also Somna by Becky Cloonan and Tula Lotay. They’re worth tracking down, and if you’re a fan of modern horror, I feel they’re worth picking up. I’ll offer up reviews of these at a later date, since I don’t feel its fair to offer up impressions after a single read. These creators put in a lot of effort to layer in more than just a simple visual narrative, and I want to do justice in what I’m discovering upon successive reads.
