A New Team is Coming with DC League of Super-Pets

The recently released trailer for DC League of Super-Pets has a slight Secret Life of Pets vibe to it, and this approach may work just to indicate this add-on is non canon.

DC League of Super-Pets (2022) - IMDbComing to Theatres
May 20, 2022

Next year, the DC Animated universe will look at a side of superhero life not often explored. It’s about time we get to meet Krypto, the Super-Dog who has sporadically been by Superboy’s side in the comics (rather than the man) and not so much in the live-action front. The recently released trailer for DC League of Super-Pets has a slight Secret Life of Pets vibe to it and it can work well to draw in new viewers.

Dwayne Johnson stars as the voice this canine in Warner Bros. Pictures’ animated action adventure feature film DC League of Super-Pets.

In this movie, Krypto the Super-Dog and Superman are inseparable best friends, sharing the same superpowers and fighting crime in Metropolis side by side. When Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto must convince a rag-tag shelter pack—Ace the hound, PB the potbellied pig, Merton the turtle and Chip the squirrel—to master their own newfound powers and help him rescue the superheroes.

The Great Yōkai War: Guardians, Trailer and Closing out Fantasia 2021

Instead of seeing the previous hero all grown up and dealing with this new threat, we have a new boy wonder, Kei Watanabe (Kokoro Terada) in The Great Yokai War: Guardians.

The Great Yokai War GuardiansStylistically, The Great Yōkai War (妖怪大戦争) is a movie that only Takashi Miike can imagine. This filmmaker is better known for his ultra violent movies, but for this franchise, he switches gears for a 90s style family friendly product where the spiritual entities aren’t all that terrifying. They’re either muppets or Farscape races. I want to hug the cute ones. Well, mostly the girl who allies with Tadashi, the hero, and the hamster named Sunekosuri. The latter is a “pet” for part of the film. This lad gets tagged during a local festival to become the guardian and the rest of the story becomes something like 3×3 Eyes–but minus the Sanjiyan.

The film is serviceable, and the franchise world is one I’d love to be taken a bit more seriously. Studio Ghibli‘s Pon Poko got the struggle right. The spectacular yokai parade was a feast for the senses.

Sixteen years later, we may finally have it. The Great Yōkai War: Guardians (妖怪大戦争 ガーディアンズ). Instead of seeing the previous hero all grown up and dealing with this new threat, we have a new boy wonder, Kei Watanabe (Kokoro Terada). He might be back, but he’ll be tough to recognize due to age. Kadokawa Pictures’ press release describes this film as an all new adventure. This time, the plot is about humanity vs nature. We can’t see the spirit world and they’ll have to protect us from a dire threat!

On Vacation with The Addams Family 2

There’s not too much to take from the trailer which recently released. We can expect a lot of crazy funky sit-com type situations to which previous live-action iterations to which this series is based on. I

Addams Family Sequel Is Coming Halloween 2021, First Poster HereRelease Date:
October 1, 2021

The Addams Family are on vacation! While the release date for the sequel is unusual–it’s playing this Autumn–the idea is straight in line with their ideology to never do things when it should happen but at the worse time.

This film directed by Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon looks to add to the kooky. We see them visiting Niagara Falls, The Grand Canyon and Miami–along with many other famous American locales.

There’s not too much to take from the trailer which recently released. We can expect a lot of crazy funky sit-com type situations may be comparable to the live-action iterations this series is based on. It doesn’t look like it’s going to follow up on how the family and neighbourhood have come together after the events from the last film.

Instead of the satire on being true to thyself and the look at modern society, this latest take is updated for the Millennial generation. We can certainly expect the family bond to tighten up (or should that be falling apart?) going on by this film’s end.

The Green Knight’s Headed to Theatres This Summer

Gawain is the hero, and he must do what the other’s can’t–to take on a giant.

The Green Knight Movie PosterElevation Pictures
Director: David Lowery

Anyone who has studied the Gawain and the Green Knight in school will be in for a treat!

Few filmmakers have adapted the poem, and its reimagining has been long overdue. No Doctor Who reference is intended here, but rather what’s needed is a focus on making this retelling a tale of horror. It’s an unusual take in an otherwise medieval morality play.

Gawain (Dev Patel) is the hero, and he must do what the others can’t–to take on a giant who symbolizes Nature. The Christian symbolism in the trailer is notable, and as for whether King Arthur and his court are challenging their own demons or they simply know Camelot is coming to an end, the ideas aren’t likely to stray far from the source material. New to the canon is a fox, and perhaps a spiritual antagonist in the form of a fox.
