Captain America: Winter Soldier Poster

Captain America: Winter Soldier is going to get more than political in its new take at a look back at the Cold War. The fight will take to the skies with some impressive dogfights with Falcon in the lead if this new trailer is any indication. Yes, that is a spoiler, but anyone who has followed the casting talk and the forums will know who the superheroes are for this upcoming film.

Spider-Man 2 Trailer Rips into Times Square! (and Thoughts)

By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

Spider-Man 2 Poster

Spider-Man fans may well want to tear into this latest trailer for story clues. Released on New Year’s Eve, this trailer teases at a big fight in Time Square and fortunately, it does not look like it is happening around the same date … or does it? Plenty of people are seen converging upon this famous intersection in New York City and the inter-titles suggests a big party is going on.

In this short, not only does one villain appear, namely Electro, but also there seems to be two more waiting in the wings! Rhino gets a massive upgrade ala the mechanical Green Goblin suit which may borrow an idea from Sam Raimi’s version, and it’s this behemoth that I’ll be looking forward to seeing. I’m sorry, Jamie Foxx, but although you look terrifying as Electro, it’s the mechanical Perissodactyla that is drawing me in to supporting this film.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 Preview Trailer Released and Analysis

By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

How to Train Your Dragon 2 Poster

The fantastic looking official trailer for the second movie in the How to Train Your Dragon series was released today. It shows that a danger is in store for the village of Berk. Years have no doubt passed since the first movie and as for how the television series fits in, the emphasis on the main hero becoming a confident warrior is very evident.

In the trailer, Hiccup meets up with a person from his past and the reveal will be a welcome to viewers’ eyes. Spoilers exist and it tells of what happened to his mother. And a terrifying force will invade the Archipelago. That will no doubt cause future ramifications for everyone living within this desolate land. Although the ideas seem far from Cressida Cowell’s books, maybe it is not. Perhaps the force that’s coming is another civilization looking to expand its borders.

In the books, Hiccup will no doubt unite all the local tribes and be crowned king. But in this movie, just who will he be facing is unknown. Writer/Director Dean DeBlois is helming this project without Chris Sanders and his ideas presented in the trailer look confidently strong. To not have the talented Sanders providing additional input should not affect the direction, but his artistic interpretation of the expanded world will be sorely missed.

By all indications, this trailer shows that the CGI will be just as good as the dynamic visuals produced in Disney’s Frozen. All the snow and ice sculptures look alive, and in high-definition resolution, the details are simply stunning. This movie looks like it will no doubt be nominated for technical awards in the 2015 awards season.

Disney’s Frozen Full Movie Trailer Released & Analysis

The reindeer looks like the one who will really steal the show in the movie Frozen.

PosterLike a gentle snow flurry slowly making its way to cover the countryside, the full trailer for Disney’s Frozen finally arrives State-side (from the UK) to tell fans that this movie is coming November 27th, just in time for American Thanksgiving.

This full preview looks promising. It yields a few fantastic action sequences and a fairy-tale like adventure that will be sure to please audiences of all ages. Complete with the prerequisite second banana to provide the humour, at least some story formulas never change. This product is Disney after all. As for whether or not audiences will warm up to the idea or be icy, that will depend on the point of view.
