Remembering The Crow (1994) Edition Before The Reboot

Brendon Lee's The Crow 4K Bluray CaseAlex ProyasThe Crow is celebrating a pearl anniversary and Paramount Pictures has rewarded fans with a special edition! Enough has been said about the film, and what’s great about this latest rerelease is that there’s new material included. Collectors who love to own every single release will like the fact there’s also a look at the Sideshow Collectables market featuring this title character.

Although some may consider this work as a simple bleak revenge fantasy, there’s more to it than just that. Not everyone is familiar with this film’s origins: comic book creator James O’Barr, came up with the idea as a way to cope. His fiancée died because of a reckless drunk driver. She was the love of his life, and to channel his angst into a medium and make a statement must have been tough. To adapt it to film, however, must mean understanding what he went through. After creating a character Batman might be afraid of, to keep ongoing is tough. Although Tim Burton’s take was released in 1989, both works influenced later comic book films still to come.

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning is Here on Home Video!

The end is neigh in Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, but as for what it means, only some people will be curious to check this film out.

Released: Jun 11, 2024

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Digimon movie that’s as sad as Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning. This film continues after the last. Here, the team meets Lui (Megumi Ogata). This lad says he’s the very first person to become DigiDestined and everyone is surprised.

His story is quite the opposite to others who embrace the role; he never wanted the job, and when he rejects his little pet monster, the way it self-destructs is quite graphic! It was at that moment where I realised this franchise is finally growing up. In addition to learning about why some individuals have a digital partner, there’s also whether everyone really needs one. When there’s a mysterious voice saying everyone should have a Digi-Partner to signal the start of this drama, not everyone agrees.

Although I wasn’t fully hooked on Star Trek Lower Decks right away, it’s found a place in my viewing schedule after seeing the Strange New Worlds episode, “Those Old Scientists.” To see the Jack Quaid reprise the role in live action was enough to earn my respect for the sci-fi comedy.

And because of that, I’ll have plenty ot catch-up viewing to do. Fans who have been picking up each season as they are released will be happy season four is coming to home video this week! While some folks will be sad that the upcoming season five will be the last of the series, I’m secretly glad because that means a complete set will most likely be offered next year, to which I can obtain the entire run in one go.

When One Percent Warrior is Unstoppable and Fights Back A Hundred-Fold!

One cool aspect about One Percent Warrior concerns its willingness to get meta, and poke fun at itself regarding this industry.

Well GO USA

Although I’ve seen this type of story in comedic takes on what an actor wants to change up about his life, One Percent Warrior (1%er ワンパーセンター) is very different. Here, filmmaker Yūdai Yamaguchi crafted a concept that lets fans of martial arts films learn about what keeps some fighters going. Tak Sakaguchi is not simply out to relive his glory days.

As Takuma Toshiro, the passion lies in what makes an actor an actor, and a fighter at his prime. No, it’s about how one channels his chi, but it’s in what being a martial arts action star represents. While this talent is making a new movie in an abandoned factory, things get difficult when two gangs interrupt the process! They are in search of hidden loot.

Suddenly, these actors, directors, and production crew have to rely on their skills and good ol’ fashioned cowboy diplomacy in order to survive! Unlike the comedy Die Hart, we’re not supposed to know what is faked or not. When lives are in danger, it’s up to Tak to save the day!

When Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season Two is on Steelbook to Watch At Home, It’s Time for an Analysis!

Although Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season Two ventures into familiar sci-fi trope territory, fans can get to learn in the featurettes why it must be so. Picard would be proud.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season Two Collector's SetAs with the previous series, I waited for the home video release of Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season Two to binge-watch all of last year’s broadcast all in one go. That review can be read here. The Steelbook Blu-ray or 4K (which comes with magnets) for this next release is worth getting, and to find it at a reasonable price really means hitting checking various online retail shops rather than visiting Amazon. The design of the packaging is beautiful, and I love the fact the colours are consistent with the first volume so that they can be displayed. The poster (available in both releases) is a nice touch, and I think I’ll invest into getting it block mounted to get rid of the fold lines.

Ultimately, I wanted to look at the behind the scenes before diving in. The best bonus features concern updating how “The Gorn,” looks like, and explaining why “Singing in Space” is important to further develop the characters that we love. The episode, “Subspace Rhapsody,” was not cringe worthy because the explanation that accompanied this happenstance is plausible. While it’s easy to give praise to an episode prior to its airing, is it worth rewatching? I would say this episode has its place in the world of Buffy: The Vampire Slayer inspired television musicals.
