Instead of the Same Ol’ Same Ol’, This Year’s Scary Victoria Halloween Event Guide Tries to Be Different

Only the most loved events are mentioned in this year’s Halloween Event Listing for the Garden City is considered.

Halloween Event Guide with a Skull Looming over the The Parliament Buildings

The season for trick or treating is right around the corner, and instead of listing the usual staples that take place around Victoria, B.C., what’s offered in this year’s Halloween Event Guide are either new events and activities that sparked my interest. The lists I’ve published in prior years are generally still valid, and should be listed as related articles following this post. Because variety is important and not everyone is inclcined to revisit the same old thing every year, even I want something different to try!

Not listed are murder mysteries, themed board game nights and other similiar store hosted events where there’s limited seating. This list will be updated as more events get advertised. If you know of one that should get listed here, please do not hesitate to comment or contact us.

AmPm is Changin’ Stranger Things to a Dance Tune with DJ Shigge!

‘Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)’ gets reimagined by Japan’s AmPm and DJ Shigge!

AMPM's Stranger Things Album CoverJapan’s masked production unit AmPm made their debut with 2017 hit single ‘Best Part of Us’, building an audience all around the world.

AmPm has a new single titled ‘Stranger Things,’ and it has nothing to do with the Netflix show of the same name. Instead, this seventh single is a dance track that reimagines ‘Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)’, the timeless 1990s hit by Crystal Waters, which has more recently found new audiences around the world via the sampling scene. Ever since this masked production unit made their debut with the 2017 ‘Best Part of Us,’ audiences world-wide have been captivated by their sound, and there’s good news!

This track will also be included in their still to be named upcoming album and the theme will be about global travel.  Links to where this song can be heard at Spotify and Apple Music. Full listings of where else it can be streamed at are listed here.

AmPM and Belle Humble is all West Side with this Music Single!

This music video also includes Belle Humble’s interpretation of what West Side is about (and the New York vibes are present).

West SideEver since AmPm broke into the global dance music scene with their debut release, they have been riding high on countless waves of success. It started in  2017 with the single ‘Best Part of Us,’ and where they can be heard spread worldwide. Their next album is based on travelling the world, and where they’re heading is to the UK!

Their latest single, titled ‘West Side,’ is now available to stream, and it looks to take inspiration by the musical of a simliar name. This dance track is a collaboration with the UK-based singer and songwriter Belle Humble, and has everything that’s distinct to both talents. She also appears in the track’s official performance video. It is also based on Humble’s interpretation of West Side, and will leave a deep impression on viewers. Be sure to check out the video and soak in the lyrics along with the unmistakable vibe.

What’s New in Bootoria Event Guide 2022 Edition

Victoria, BC isn’t dry for scary things to do. There’s a lot of dance parties for Bootoria 2022, but why limit yourself to other family fun activities?

nullThere are not a lot of new special events going on in Victoria, BC as Halloween nears. Aside from staples returning to normal form as pandemic concerns abate, what’s new is limited to what is advertised and not. Please check our past Bootoria Event Guide(s) for those annual shows that may have come and gone. It’s safe to say not every organiser wants to be liable should immunised event goers get sick.

But as for those confirmed to be running, the list includes the staples–John Adam’s Ghostly Walks, Galey Farms’ Festival of Fear, Ocean View / Saanichton Corn Mazes Fright Nights, The Vic Theatre’s annual Rocky Horror Picture Show and Cinecenta offering some movie marathon. This year is Nosferatu Live!.

Sadly, the organisers behind Fear in the Pier and University Frights Theatre haven’t announced anything. Let’s hope they have something spectre-acular planned when we can truly put the pandemic behind us. But as for what’s new, I’m compiling this list as they become known for the public to purchase tickets in advance for. Thanks go to Theatre Victoria’s Facebook collective for contributing ideas to this list.

Spooked in Seattle, MoPOP Halloween News for Oct 29, 2022!

In Seattle, Washington the Museum of Pop Culture has plans to make Halloween fun again in huge gatherings…

MoPOP HalloweenThe Museum of Pop Culture has announced that its epic MoPOP Halloween bash Fashionably Undead is returning after a multi-year hiatus!

On Saturday, October 29, don your scariest costume and make your way to the museum for the Halloween dance party of the season. And this event’s host has the following to say:

Dear friends — we, the sentient machines that have taken over your beloved MoPOP, humbly invite you to our Ha11oween bash. Please consider this as nothing more than a celebration. It is in no way a trap. Or a Red Wedding. Dance your flesh off to the hypnotic pulsing rhythms. Lose your cares and decision-making capabilities in a fruity glass of fermented liquids. Scream for your life in an escape room built solely for your amusement. And party like it’s your last night on earth. Because it won’t be. We promise.

This event is 21+ only.
