Labrynth TalesAutumn’s creeping in and the anime leaves are turning — which means it’s the perfect time for a dive into something mysterious, uncanny, or just a little weird. This Top Spooky Anime picks list is not full-on horror (we’ll save the jump scares for later), as some of it began early in the Summer. However, since some folks began planning even then, what this list considers are our top spooky anime picks while daylight is still lingering on the horizon during those late nights.

Crunchyroll’s Fall slate is here, and what I present is a cumulation of what started over the heat wave to the cooling. What’s offered here are a list of lightly eerie picks that mix guilty-pleasure romcoms with monstrous appetites, ghostly whodunits, and one final-season epic that feels like a superhero reckoning. Two Episodes In, Nyaight of the Living Cat is a Feline Parody Done Right!

The Nyaight of the Living Cat continues the hiliarity for those who love mashups, like Night of the Zoopocalypse. Fans will just need a creative team to IP the concept!

Only cat lovers and zombie heads will find lots to love in the animated series, Nyaight of the Living Cat. The puns are everywhere! And new cat owners can learn a thing or two about why cats react the way they do to certain human behaviors. The creators tacked these bits onto the episode and post-credit sequence. It’s better than what Marvel Entertainment does, since what’s taught can be useful. 

As for why this work is a parody, that’s because the adaptation has no shame in subverting the tropes from classic horror and action films! When audiences are supposed to be frightened, we aww or laugh-out-loud instead! This series’ world becomes sillier by the minute and is not afraid to overstate a cliché–cats are cute! From the obvious nya (the onomatopoeia for meow) being used in everyday speech to trying to explain the behaviour of felines, I chuckled at nearly every turn.

The Crunchyroll Game Vault Now Has 50 Exclusive Titles! And At the End of the Year, Manga Will Be Added Too!

For those folks who have not subscribed to this streaming service, the higher service tiers give folks access to the Crunchyroll Game Vault!

Crunchyroll Game VaultWhen the Crunchyroll brand focuses on something other than its streaming service, the mobile gaming division may remain relatively unknown. Only those who have joined at the highest service level (Mega or Ultimate Fan) will know the Crunchyroll Game Vault. And for those folks not up to date, this company will launch a digital manga service later this year!

And with 50 games to try out, it may be time to check out what they got. While I’m not expecting to find the elusive Wild Arms: Million Memories, hopefully some distributor will consider it!

In the Movie Trapezium, Not Every Idol Singer Will Have Another’s Back

Although Trapezium is not a true look at the Japanese idol industry, what’s presented certainly scratches the surface.

Another star is born and whether the anime movie Trapezium truly explores what goes on in creating an idol singer depends. This tale is allegedly based on a story by Kazumi Takayama, a former member of Nogizaka 46. If true, the insights are not that many. I believe this film is more of a satire than anything else.

When this character drama is atypical, there’s none of that hyper intensity from Pompo the Cinephile (movie review) here. Here, the much slower story focuses on Azuma Yuu (Asaki Yuikawa), whose desire to be famous requires her to be something worse. While she’s almost like Ally Campana from the aforementioned film, her charming attitude isn’t immediate. Ranko (Reina Ueda), Kurumi (Hina Yomiya) and Mika (Haruka Aikawa) are her friends. Together, they are training to be Japan’s next top talent.

Demon Slayer Movie: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is Coming and Where To Find It!

The first chapter of the Demon Slayer Movie: Infinity Castle trilogy will be coming and it’s a global roll out!

The Demon Slayer Movie titled Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is wasting no time to spread the love at North American theatres this Fall! As the first film in the epic trilogy from the famed animation studio Ufotable, nobody wants to delay this work following its Japanese premiere on July 18, 2025. In what’s special is that this tale forms the first part of the Infinity Castle trilogy. It takes place after season four and that finished its American run almost exactly a year ago.

IMAX and other premium large formats will present this latest film. The film will be available in both Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.
