Throughout the years, Donnie Yen has played a variety of characters who faced a myriad of challenges and in Polar Rescue, the greatest one is when a loved one disappears. The physical and emotional response is tough, and he definitely goes through the motions and that alone makes watching this movie worth the look.

In this film originally titled Come Back Home, his youngest child is lost somewhere in the wilderness. It’s winter time, and to visit a Tein Lake without a ride is impossible. Also, the parents are having a tough go at dealing with this kid. He’s quite demanding and when De (Yen) disciplines this tyke for a few minutes by locking him in a cabin, the kid decides to sneak out the back window. And when the folks realise he’s gone, they better do everything they can to find him.

To Say Ghostbusters Back In Town Answers One Question Before Frozen Empire Helps Answer One Lingering Question

Hopefully this miniseries isn’t the only release to continue what is the Ghostbusters cinematic universe.

Ghostbusters Back in Town #1 Comic Book CoverPotential Spoiler Alert

A lot of comic books have been published featuring either The Real Ghostbusters, some version thereof, or exist in its own world. Just how long Dark Horse Comics intends to publish in regards to the Spengler family depend on the contract. At least to say they’re “Back in Town” bridges the gap between Afterlife and Frozen Empire is a step in the right direction. Author Greg Pak wastes no time to get the clan exploring some personal issues.

According to ScreenRant, Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan are overseeing the project. I assume that means they will approve any pitches regarding what kind of adventures this group may have. It can be like Stranger Things or become truly spooky, something past takes never fully done before. IDW’s run has always had a bit of kookiness involved and the crossovers are not canon.

At Campton Manor, The Race is On to Find Whodunit

Technically, this movie has no relation to the folk tune about being at the races. Instead Campton Manor deals with something else that the hero has to find before time runs out!

Campton Manor Movie PosterAvailable on VOD (YouTube, Google Play & Apple)

A mystery is afoot at Campton Manor! It’s rare to feature a detective who admits he sees dead people. And when Cat Hostick‘s film is about such a hero, I was curious. What’s delivered is fairly engaging as the film switches back and forth from what he sees to how others watch him at work. The excellent lighting design lets viewers know when the tale is taking place.

Here, Teddy (Shawn Roberts) is a detective who also moonlights as a writer of cheap fiction. While I question his work ethics of taking inspiration from the cases he’s done, apparently the income is good. Unlike Murder She Wrote, what’s done here shows how nobody’s the wiser. He changes the names in the stories. As for how close he’s gotten to solving the crimes before writing it down depends on who you ask.

Cobra Commander is More Than Ruthless in #2 and #3 of Image/Skybound’s Mini-Series!

In the Energon Universe, Cobra Commander is a lot more cunning and ruthless than anyone realises, and could he be be an anti-hero?

Image Comics & Skybound EntertainmentCobra Commander #3 Front Cover
Spoiler Alert

In issues #2 and 3 of Cobra Commander, just what kind of relationship he will have with the Dreadnoks gets dissected and broken down! Those moments will have a few readers cringing, and others like myself cackling with laughter like The Joker. It’s about time we have a story that can crawl underneath your skin!

The latest issue is all about about who can take the pain. Whether that’s physical or psychological, there’s lots to like with this latest issue. The shock from Buzzer says it all! Unlike the cartoons where this gang are nothing but buffoons and you don’t get to know them, this version offers a bit of backstory and reveals in how bloody ruthless they can be. We see some carnage in #2, but in this continuation, what I loved witnessing is how CC is establishing himself in this hierarchy. This up and coming leader of a global terrorist network needs to prove why he is this motorcycle gang’s superior.

As for Zartan and what he is up to, I do not know! This air of mystery from series writer Joshua Williamson has me rereading the comic in search for clues. It’s easy to see his sister Zarana holding all the cards, but as for what she knows, she’s not telling. Although Destro, Major Bludd, Storm Shadow and Dr. Mindbender have yet to make their entry into this reimagined comic book universe, I am eager to see how the creative team behind this Energon universe will update them.

Summoning Up Players for Magic Chaos May Be The Greatest Challenge of Them All

After spending two weeks in Magic Chaos, the real challenge is in finding folks interested in trying this party game with you.

Magic Chaos Title CardMagic Chaos is a type of video game where you can play a magical girl become a Terminator! Although I expected cut scenes showing these heroines transforming into new modes (costumes) between matches, I had not progressed far enough to find out. Instead, what’s created by Super Starmine is a party-based player versus player product rather than something to enjoy alone. It’ll most likely do well at an anime convention’s arcade room, and thus, in that environment, finding people to play against is not as difficult as online.

I adjusted my schedule to Japan time to see if I could find anyone during the time I spent with this early release, and didn’t find many folks. Players can set up rooms for other gamers to join, and during the times I checked, there were not many. The fact they are “locked” made me think the option exists to limit who you want in. When I turned to Discord, the mostly Japanese written discussion forum made it tough to figure out which channel is appropriate to ask if someone would like to take part in a match.

Cody Lightning is Hey Viktor! and A Whole Lot More

Personally, I don’t think Cody Lightning was smoking anything when the idea to make Hey VIktor! came about. It’s unbashedly a self-parody of his own life!

Hey Viktor! Movie PosterNow playing at select theatres

Technically, fans curious about the mockumentary, Hey Viktor! does not need to see the comedy Smoke Signals to make sense out of why Cody Lightning is stuck in the past. He’s done much more since playing that kid long ago. And thankfully, off camera, this Native American actor has done better for himself than in what this movie suggests. However, I couldn’t help but wonder where the lines of reality are blurred. After the aforementioned movie’s success, most of these talents moved on to do better things.

However, for Lightning, he’s stuck in the past and he’s wondering why he’s not been receiving those royalty checks. As a result, he’s taken on jobs he’s not proud of, and when his wife finally leaves him, this guy is not sure how to forge ahead. After a proposition from Craig Boner (Colin Mochrie) who has his own success story with a reality show, “Getting Sober with Craig Boner,” this individual decides it’s time to make a sequel to that cult hit. To see him attempt to reconnect with that cast is sometimes pitiful and strangely funny.
