With A Comic Book Titled, Eat Your Young, Is Coming This Summer by Mad Cave Studios….

…. Immortality is a curse. Legacy is a weapon. And Blood is the only way out! No, Eat Your Young is not based on Renfield, but it might!

Eat Your Young Comic Book CoverMad Cave Studios
Release Date: Aug 20, 205

When Mad Cave Studios announces a comic book titled, Eat Your Young, people are going to pay attention! That’s because there’s an unspoken rule where no harm should come to a child. And when it’s described to be like Highlander and Oldbay (in addition to the aforementioned tales), that’s a formula readers will no doubt want to see how all of this can work, myself included!

Can there be only one, or what happens when every kid on Earth is gone? As for who would desire this, those are my burning questions in this release. And how can I not pick up a comic with a character whose name is like mine?

From the Press Release

Mad Cave Studios is proud to unleash Eat Your Young—a visceral, character-driven blood feud from writer Brian Buccellato (Midlife, Chicken Devil, The Flash) and artist Mattia Monaco (Knock Em Dead, Kalya), with letters by Buddy Beaudoin (Gatchaman), and Cover B by Stefano Simeone (Good Luck).

Who’s Ready For The Blues Brothers? The Escape of Joliet Jake Marks A New (and Old?) Chapter for the Franchise!

Although The Blues Brothers is mostly a cover band, just what they represent is much more than to bring that Chicago Blues sound to the masses. Their passion and need to connect with the genre’s essence must be honoured in this upcoming graphic novel, The Escape of Joliet Jake.

The Blues Brothers: The Escape of Joliet Jake
Available to preorder on Amazon USA

Release Date: Oct 2025

The beloved Blues Brothers whom two generations have grown up with are not gone. Instead, there are plans to bring this franchise back to the fore with “forays into television, film, live events, music and much more,” according to one press release. Everything begins with the graphic novel release of The Blues Brothers: The Escape of Joliet Jake. While Dan Aykroyd will not be performing at every stop (he is getting on in age so he’s most likely not going to be as intense on stage), his presence will mean everything why his daughter is taking charge of continuing on!

All I can think of is the attempt with Blues Brothers 2000. This movie pays tribute to the first film and shows how the music changes style from one side of the country to the other. And it also reveals that to be a brother means you just have to embrace the music, and that’s all anyone needs to chase the blahs away.

To kick things off will be this graphic novel from Z2 Comics. It’s written by Stella Aykroyd, Luke Pisano and James Werner with artist Felipe Sobriero.

Free Comic Book Day is Almost Here! Top Picks of the 2025 Season.

When Free Comic Book Days offers to folks, the best in what pop culture represents, it’s safe to say which franchises have lasting power as long as those IPs stay consistent.

Free Comic Book DayFree Comic Book Day is almost here! And in 2025, the selection has only gotten more diverse to include anime style offerings. That is, Tamashii Nations and Gunpla have teamed up to put together an exclusive Mobile Suit Gundam Wing bonus comic. Not every retailer will offer this, so it’s best to hunt around in your local city to locate who has this or not.

Besides this title, the other works I’m excited about are the following. I will include notes where possible as I received previews of Mad Cave Studios release to whet my appetite for picking up the print edition. Instead of Gatchaman, this time they’re expanding their selection of nostalgia classics to include Speed Racer! There’s another title, but please read on to find out.

The Dissident Club Is Where We Are The World

An expansive Pakistani coming-of-age story, The Dissident Club documents Taha Siddiqui’s experiences as a young man fighting for truth and justice against the harsh backdrop of Islamic fundamentalism and corruption.

The Dissident Club Graphic Novel
Available to purchase on Amazon USA

Taha Siddiqui never felt he belonged in the world his Muslim parents grew up in. Although they tried to teach them their ways, he never understood what being devout means. When his father became much more difficult to live with, life became a lot more tough. And what’s recounted in the aptly titled graphic novel, The Dissident Club: Chronicle of a Pakistani Journalist in Exile, is a deep look at what goes on in Pakistan.

Some parents allowed their kids to grow up without certain teachings engrained upon them at an early age. This author had a fleeting moment where he could read comics featuring Batman, Superman and Spider-man. He not only idolized but also wanted to be like them. But after his father looked at these books, he took them away and banned them because they represented something he deemed against the will of Allah.

When Italy’s Giuseppe Manunta Has His Sights on Hellboy!

This summer, fans of Mike Mignola’s Hellboy and Giuseppe Manunta’s visual talent can see a union of the beast as they hit the beach for this fun filled tale!

Hellboy and Giuseppe ManuntaRelease Date:
August 27, 2025

Although artist Giuseppe Manunta may be unknown to the mainstream, his contributions featured in Heavy Metal magazine and his graphic novels are very telling. This pin-up artist has quite the imagination, and he’s done many graphic novels (Amazon link) since. And when he says he wants to draw something for Dark Horse Comics / Mike Mignola, I’ll be looking forward to the release of Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Professor Harvey is Gone.

When he’s also contributed to the animated series Winx, I’m glad he’s not limiting himself to specific genres. This French production has a very distinctive style to it and to be part of that team of storyboard artists and costume designers had me tuning in! For this particular upcoming comic book,  when an octopus is somehow involved, I’m curious! The season to go play at the beach is nearly here, and the release date is rather timely. After looking at Monster from the Ocean Floor (movie review) recently. I have to wonder….

From the Press Release:

“I’m a big fan of Giuseppe’s work,, so I was thrilled when he told me he wanted to do a Hellboy story—The only problem was that I had sort of (finally) run out of Hellboy stories,” says Mike Mignola. ”My head is so much in my new LANDS UNKNOWN series now that for a while I was really drawing a blank.

The Art of Marvel Snap

The Art of Marvel Snap is not meant to be a comprehensive look at everything featured in the mobile game. Instead it’s a best of.

The Art of Marvel Snap
Available to purchase on Amazon USA

Dark Horse Comics

More than a few characters are missing in The Art of Marvel Snap, and I think the selection of who’s the sexist is rather good. When this digital collectable card game is regularly adding characters, it’s impossible to be current, and if people think that a print publication is a guide, it really isn’t. It’s the best of which shows a few extra variant art designs to satisfy fans.

If I wanted a complete catalogue of every card, I would prefer a regularly updated digital book to this hardcover. This edition considers which character designs are really cool looking, and I’m glad Deadpool and Rogue has an entry. While not every X-men (Cyclops and Ice-Man) is here, at least the core team from the Avengers are. One character that’s suspiciously missing but is in the game is Kitty Pryde. Either she was phased out or is hiding somewhere. Thankfully, they all exist in the app, but for being featured in a huge compendium like this, there must be a reason!
