Mad Cave Studios
Release Date: Aug 20, 205
When Mad Cave Studios announces a comic book titled, Eat Your Young, people are going to pay attention! That’s because there’s an unspoken rule where no harm should come to a child. And when it’s described to be like Highlander and Oldbay (in addition to the aforementioned tales), that’s a formula readers will no doubt want to see how all of this can work, myself included!
Can there be only one, or what happens when every kid on Earth is gone? As for who would desire this, those are my burning questions in this release. And how can I not pick up a comic with a character whose name is like mine?
From the Press Release
Mad Cave Studios is proud to unleash Eat Your Young—a visceral, character-driven blood feud from writer Brian Buccellato (Midlife, Chicken Devil, The Flash) and artist Mattia Monaco (Knock Em Dead, Kalya), with letters by Buddy Beaudoin (Gatchaman), and Cover B by Stefano Simeone (Good Luck).
This explosive new six-issue miniseries doesn’t just raise the stakes—it drives them straight through the heart. This comic blends brutal combat, punk-era flashbacks, Cold War espionage, and raw emotional depth into a genre-smashing epic of family, legacy, and survival. Unflinching and relentless, it’s high-stakes storytelling at its most feral.
Edmund Irons, a 2,000-year-old warlord, names his six-year-old daughter, Elsa, as the next Alpha of his immortal clan. But every hundred years, during a brutal 27-day window known as The Centurium, his children have one chance to rip out his heart and claim the throne—or lose their immortality forever. Now, Edmund’s thirty offspring—an iconic cast of genre archetypes like The Cold War Spy, The Serial Killer, The Vigilante, The Punk Rocker, and The Billionaire Futurist—turn on their father and each other in a zero-sum battle for eternal life.
“Eat Your Young is my kind of chaos—immortal family feuds, bloody betrayals, and a violent journey through the pop culture that raised me,” said writer Brian Buccellato. “It’s been incredible collaborating with Mattia again and bringing it all to life with Mad Cave fully behind us.”
“Eat Your Young reimagines classic fantasy archetypes in modern-day New York, weaving a brutal, emotional story of family, betrayal, and the struggle against inherited roles,” said artist Mattia Monaco. “Visually dynamic and emotionally charged, the art shifts from clean lines to raw, chaotic energy as the tension rises. Each character is crafted with a distinct identity, inspired by noir, grotesque, and old-school arcade styles. Working with Brian and the Mad Cave team created a collaborative space that pushed the story—and all of us—to new heights.”
