DC’s Legends of Tomorrow goes “White Knight” or is that Knights? A Commentary

Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) is stealing the show in the fourth episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Although he never claims to be a “White Knight” he’s certainly a man of sophisticated colours; from deviously sweeping one lady off her feet, only to swipe her ID card to winning another’s heart in Moscow, Russia. Perhaps he can become the next James Bond. Miller relishes being a man with his own sense of justice and sadly, every one else is beginning to pale in comparison. Technically, the movie is titled “White Knights,” but this film is really emphasizing one future hero instead of a group.

Rip, the person who should be in charge, is really paling. He could be leading the charge ala King Arthur, but he has problems back in a future Camelot (that’s fallen to ruin). He has troubles of his own when the Time Masters catch up with him and say he can not continue on his vigilante mission. I’m wondering if they will put him on full trial, force him to regenerate and send him to remain trapped in one particular era on Earth when the season ends.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Revels in “Blood Ties” and Cults

By Ed Sum (The Vintage Tempest)

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow gets better with age, and in the third episode, “Blood ties,” more character building exercises are taking place. This time, the complexities of what makes Leonard Snart cold-hearted is explored, the insecurities of Palmer gets confronted and the demons Lance faces come to head. The sub-plots developing these characters will no doubt continue, and hopefully Rory / Heat Wave will get the justice he deserves. He’s still being handled as a throwaway character, described as thick, and all he does is follow along to anything Snart orders him to do. While he gets some great Arnold Schwarzenegger style lines, hopefully he can get some decent development in future episodes.

Staying “In Time” with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow

Altering time is tricky in Legends of Tomorrow, and oddly enough, nothing is said about residues or whether or not branches to alternate time-lines will happen Back to the Future style.

Legends of Tomorrow Title CardSpoiler Alert

Part two of the pilot to CW’s Legends of Tomorrow is a far more productive launch to this series than last week’s episode. Instead of a recap and recruitment heavy story to begin the show, this week gets the team figuring out who they are and if the story can move beyond the essential three figures — Kendra Saunders, Carter Hall and Vandal Savage — who drives this series. This second episode places emphasis on Professor Martin Stein (Victor Garber) past and present self. He starts to comprehend who he is, warts and all. To understand where his arrogance comes from is welcomed.

A Dragon Fan’s Commentary: Breaking down the “Iron Gronckle”

The question of whether this Gronckle Iron, as its called, is the Berk equivalent to Mithril, will never get answered. But the idea that this How to Train Your Dragon series is starting to make references to familiar pop culture products is becoming very evident.

Fishlegs and two RocksThe age of scientific discovery is very evident in the second episode, “The Iron Gronckle,” of Dragons: Defenders of Berk. What that means for the astute is in how perfectly other products developed for this series is starting to tie in. The School of Dragons is an online educational game product that focuses on teaching its players scientific method, and if this episode is any indication, maybe it will pave way for more marvels to come.

But so far, nobody has noticed that Alvin and Mildew left a few dragon eggs in the caves underneath the town of Berk. When one of them happens to be a Whispering Death, what that means may not get revealed perhaps till mid-season.

Breaking down the Next Stage of Dragons: Defenders of Berk

How Defenders of Berk will continue will be interesting since the team will have to learn more about how to function as a unit.

Dragons_defenders_of_berk_poster_1A sure sign that the How to Train Your Dragon series has entered the mainstream consciousness is when it starts to allude to well known movies in pop culture. In this case, the premiere episode of Dragons: Defenders of Berk, refers to the Dragon Training Academy as a secret Flight than Fight Club. That’s because, in the wake of the previous season’s finale where Alvin and the Outcasts finally learn the secret of how to train the dragons they captured, Hiccup’s team has been banned from patrolling the isle of Berk.

Stoick, Hiccup’s father, is afraid that the youths are in over their heads with what’s coming.

The citizens of Berk will face invasion by Alvin’s tribe. It is coming. Hiccup, Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Tuff and Ruff think they can handle it, but Stoick does not. He thinks they do not have the skills as fully trained warriors. They have to know how to fight.

Transformers Prime: “Deadlock” Between What the Fans Want and the Series Concluding… (or not?)

Sadly, Transformers Prime has come to the end with this finale and we take a look at what made it special, along with notes in what’s coming.

BumblebeeFans of Transformers Prime will no doubt laugh, cheer and cry while watching “Deadlock,” the finale to the television series. It does a good job at providing a climax that viewers have waited for but it is not a definitive conclusion. While fans will see a be-all end-all showdown between Optimus and Megatron, the surprise this episode brings will get many fans applauding.

But this season fell short to being grandiose or as a successor to the wildly spectacular season two. At least this season had its moments with “Plus One,” “Chain of Command” and “Thirst.” The rest was basically one huge movie being cut up into chunks to fit into a weekly dramatic schedule.

When considering one lingering story thread has not been addressed, the fight is not over yet. Ever since Optimus suggested that Smokescreen should be the next Prime, this plot point mostly gets forgotten when this rookie decides its best to remain who he is than to rise above his station.
