Don’t Open It Now! Save Mad Cave Studios Ghostbox For October Release.

Family secrets may well be tucked away in Ghostbox, an upcoming title from the creative team of Mike Carey, Pablo Raimondi and José Villarrubia!

ghostbox comic book coverWhile some people are preparing for some summer fun, publishers have plans set for All Hallow’s Eve! While that’s two seasons away, I’m even considering what’s coming out and want to be eager for. And with a title like Ghostbox, I can’t help but wonder if this team is taking inspiration from the legend of the Dybbuk box?

Now that’s one storage unit I dare not want to open! Following the announcement are the preview pages.

From the Press Release:

Mad Cave Studios proudly presents Ghostbox, a gripping supernatural thriller from New York Times bestselling author Mike Carey (Lucifer, The Girl With All the Gifts) and celebrated artist Pablo Raimondi (X-Factor, Sacred Creatures), with colours by José Villarrubia (Sweet Tooth, Mirror). Blending mystery, urban horror, and emotional suspense, this original graphic novel unboxes trauma, family secrets, and the supernatural forces we inherit.

From Free Comic Book Day, The Teaser for Def Leppards Hysteria Graphic Novel is a Misnomer

Although some musical talents gel very well in the comic book medium, others may well be a head scratcher when there’s no added rock and roll element to make them antiheroes. Def Leppard’s Hysteria is an example.

The next band to jump on the comic book bandwagon is Def Leppard! Whether that’s good or bad depends on whether readers like me are ready for a story about other characters rather than the band featuring Joe Elliott, Rick Savage, Phil Collen (who wrote this story), Rick Savage and Vivian Campbell. Although they do not have stage personalities like KISS, what’s offered with issue #0 on Free Comic Book Day is more of a prologue, with no sign of the band in sight.

The victims in the opening pages reminded me of Ritchie Valens and his tragic death. Although this musician never bought a cursed guitar or continued playing as that plane crashed, the similarities in appearance could not go unnoticed. The tale then jumps forward a few years and introduces Foz.

Predator: Killer of Killers is Coming Soon! Can Humanity Survive?

Sorry Marvel Comics, but Dark Horse Comics got the right idea on how to continue Predator with Killer of Killers–especially when I’m recognizing proper universe expanding elements in the trailer.

Predator Killer of Killers Movie PosterComing soon is Predator: Killer of Killers, and this animated entry may well be the best to date. There’s no denying the original set the precedent, and the last film, Prey, gave fans what we really wanted rather than a shared universe with another alien. I love the idea of combining some IPs, but to see Marvel Comics having this ultimate assassin go up against their own heroes is a huge misstep! Yes I know they are non canonical material, but I don’t want it.

The trailer that was released a few days ago gave this long-time fan goosebumps! Killer of Killers will be released on June 6, and Badlands will be on Nov 7. Dan Trachtenberg is the creative mind behind both works, and it’s about time someone is handling this IP rather than random individuals hired to add their take on top. I have been enjoying the extended universe through Dark Horse Comics rather than the other company, and I suspect this filmmaker has done the same when considering the vibe I’m getting from the teaser.

When MCU’s Thunderbolts Fizzles Because of the MCU Grand Plan

To say Thunderbolts struck gold is a misnomer. Its mix of Captain America 2 with the Suicide Squad formula isn’t as thrilling.

Thunderbolts Movie PosterSpoiler Alert

Marvel Entertainment’s latest film, Thunderbolts, is hardly electrifying. Despite all the wrangling to make a cinematic universe that depends on one another to keep fans invested, trying to watch this latest only made me think of Suicide Squad more than accepting this new team is the next Avengers. I got bored halfway through the film, and it’s mostly because of a lack of interest in who makes up this team.

As much as I like Yelena Belova’s (Florence Pugh) new look and what’s motivating her to continue on, I am glad to see David Harbour back as Alexei Shostakov / Red Guardian. He’s still the comic relief. As for the others, I couldn’t care less because of one problem.

Mad Cave Studio’s Fate: The Winx Saga, The Shadow War Makes Its Mark!

All the latest news and info regarding The Winx Saga is recounted here, which updates fans on both the graphic novel and animated front!

The live-action Fate: The Winx Saga breathes life to a franchise I miss watching. While the latest is a good Netflix series, it does not have the same appeal as the original. Iginio Straffi’s character designs made it unique, and despite changes in directions in later seasons, I enjoyed it. And until the rumoured animated reboot series gets broadcast (more on this later). I’ll take what’s there and eagerly give Fate: The Winx Saga, The Shadow War, volume two of the graphic novel series, a read!

Mad Cave Studios and Rainbow Group are pleased to announce this upcoming graphic novel, and they got more information about it.

Hungry For Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong 2? Thoughts on This Upcoming Release.

It’s hard to say if season two of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters will air in 2025, but in comic book front, fans of Legendary’s Monsterverse can get their fix with the comic book Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong 2.

Justice League vs Godzilla vs King Kong 2 CoverGetting ready for release next month is Justice League vs Godzilla vs Kong 2. Here, Task Force X’s attempt to create hybrid Titans to rule DC’s Earth Prime universe may well involve invading the Monsterverse! Although I voiced my thoughts on the last series (review link), I’m still curious how this second series will proceed.

Although Legendary Comics is a division whose partnership with other studios has changed over the years, just how this affects the bottom line is still odd. Some departments are autonomous but still have to pitch to executives managing IPs to get the funding to move projects forward.

Here, all that’s known about the upcoming series is that the heroes have to travel into the Monsterverse to convince some titans to hide from Amanda Waller’s plan to create another Suicide Squad. My suspicion is that, and because the summary lacked detail, I had to consider her motivation for creating her own Jurassic Park.
