Everything is not quite awesome in Bricksburg in The LEGO Movie Part Two. Now dubbed Apocalypseburg, the Mad Max theme plays throughout as the citizens attempt to thwart an invading species of bricks. The set up is simple: In the real world, events continue after younger sister Bianca is allowed to the basement where this “world” lives and she can bring her Duplo. And sometimes, certain characters are not who they are. This sense of accepting who they inside define what makes this sequel special.

Thoughts on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

In preparation for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, a rewatch of the first film (and original trilogy) was needed. To see how it all ties together is mildly explored. This latest entry takes place three years after and yes, some advancements in cloning technology happened to allow for the unthinkable.

Dr Henry Wu (B. D. Wong) is continuing his hybrid experiments. I hoped more detail would emerge about who his new masters are, but nothing is revealed. Without him, there would be no ongoing series. Another film is planned.

When Love is Fleeting in “Passengers,” A Movie Review

I thought the set design is terrific to look at in Passengers, and the real world physics of space travel plausible.

I thought the set design is terrific to look at in Passengers, and the real world physics of space travel plausible. This movie got me wondering about the world being left behind. Is the Earth overpopulated and only the rich can afford to leave? The starship Avalon is a luxury cruise ship that Jim (Chris Pratt) finds himself in. Little does he know is that it is slowly malfunctioning–the reason behind his sudden awakening from hibernation–and had he investigated, he might have repaired the vehicle sooner than later.

In what he learns instead is the fact that he will not live long enough to arrive in a new world. He’s a drowning man. That’s until one day, he finds the girl of his dreams (Jennifer Lawrence) and makes the terrible decision to awaken her. She’s an accomplished journalist and has a story to tell, but will it involves Jim? Most likely not, but just what is love exactly?

Speculation Surrounds Stallone and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2”

Guardians_of_the_GalaxyThere is some buzz surrounding Sylvester Stallone as of late. The 69-year-old actor, who was recently nominated for an Academy Award for the film Creed, was photographed exiting an Atlanta hotel where the cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are currently staying. A New York Daily News report contains a photo of Stallone in possession of a script. A source has told the Mail, “The star then got into a car usually assigned to Chris Pratt, the star of the movie.”

The sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy, which grossed 773.3 Million worldwide, is being shot at Pinewood Studio in the State of Georgia.

While it is possible Stallone could potentially play the role of Peter Quill’s (Pratt) father, Marvel Studios has not confirmed Stallone’s casting. Quill’s father is a role that director James Gunn teased would play a huge part in the film. But with the recent casting of Kurt Russell, it was rumoured Russell would portray that character. Stallone’s role says Daily Mail’s source would be a cameo.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 will be written and directed by James Gunn. Chris Pratt (Peter Quill), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Vin Diesel (Groot), Bradley Cooper (Rocket), and Karen Gillan (Nebula) will reprise their roles.

The Best of the Entertainment Industry’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Videos

alsa_logoMany celebrities are taking on ALS’ ice bucket challenge to bring awareness to the world to what Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease) is about. This neurodegenerative disease affects the brain and spinal cord, where it causes muscles to atrophy. Victims in the late stage can lose the ability to speak and swallow food. Fortunately, there is treatment to this muscle numbing disease. But in what can be done so far, all current medications can offer is to “relieve symptoms and improve the quality of life.”

Research is ongoing for better ways to tackle this disease. To help raise funds, many celebrities from various aspects of the world of sports and entertainment have stepped forward to allow themselves to get drenched in ice cold water in a symbolic statement of what the feeling must be like to suffer from ALS. The numbing sensation is not pleasurable. But to their reaction is entertainment enough.

An Infinity Nerd’s Take on Guardians of the Galaxy

Once when movie-goers start watching one movie set in the Marvel Comics Cinematic Universe, they will have to see the rest. There`s no denying that fact. In each film, there are little details being offered either before, during or after the credits roll to tease at what is to come. Sometimes a few details are unimportant, like Tony Stark getting psychoanalyzed by Bruce Banner or seeing the team eat shawarma, but only the astute will know that the bonus material that the early films offered were made to build up to The Avengers.

For another set of post-credits scenes, namely what’s seen in Thor: The First Avenger, Avengers, The Amazing Spider Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past, the tease is made lead into the Infinity Gauntlet storyline. Guardians of the Galaxy further defines this grander story arc by being a milestone product. Although this tale stands alone very well, all things considered, as a singular product, not everyone is going to understand how important one of the characters, The Collector, is unless they have seen Thor: Dark World or read the original mini-series to which Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is taking from. But it should be noted that most of these films are based on the current run than the 80’s material. Even without this extra knowledge, Guardians is a fun film with lots of grandiose silliness to entrench it as part of this Marvel Comics brand. It’s comic book style kinetics and narrative compares favourably against the Avengers movie, and perhaps the two super-groups will meet after one team deals with Ultron next year.
