Tokyo Ghoul’s Katsuyuki Konishi Announced as Anime Revolution Guest of Honor!

You might call Katsuyuki Konishi (小西 克幸) Koutarou Amon of Tokyo Ghoul, Ozma Lee of Macross Frontier, Tom Tanaka of Durarara!!, or Bulat of Akame ga Kill!. But no matter what character you know him for, he is widely regarded as one of the most in-demand voice actors in the business today and he is coming to Anime Revolution in Vancouver this summer.

An award-winning actor, Konishi got his first break as Volfogg on Sunrise’s 1997 animated series The King of Braves GaoGaiGar. He would go on to reprise Volfogg in the 2000 OVA The King of Braves GaoGaiGar Final. That was the start of what would be a successful career for Konishi voicing many now favourite characters of anime. His list of credits includes Laxus Dreyar of Fairy Tail, Johann Trinity of Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Pinion of Suisei no Gargantia, and Raikou in two Pokémon feature films.

Kevin Brooks’ Teen Thriller ‘iBoy’ Gets Netflix Upgrade

Kevin Brooks’ teen thriller book published in 2010 about a boy who gains superpowers after a head collision with his mobile phone is getting the Netflix movie treatment. Starring Bill Milner (Anthropoid) as Tom Harvey and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) as Lucy, the film deals with the everyday life of inner-city Londoners whose encounters with gangs and their drugs is the norm. Tom who is eking out an existence in one such neighbourhood becomes just another statistic after his mate (friend) Lucy is assaulted by a group of thugs. Waking up from a coma, Tom’s discovered parts of his phone have become embedded into his brain. But Tom’s narrow escape gains him more than his life, it’s gained him new-found powers too. With these abilities Tom is out for justice for what was done to Lucy.

Vancouver Talent Agency Suffers Break and Enter

One of the top talent agencies in Vancouver suffered a break-in on New Year’s Eve when two thieves made off with 3 desktop computers, a camera, cash box, and a company cheque belonging to Boss Management Inc. The thieves, who were caught on camera, left behind fingerprints at the agency’s office located at 440 Hastings St. West – Suite #300 that may help identify them.

WB Japan Releases Elric Brothers Photo for Fullmetal Alchemist Live-Action Movie

Out of all the announced films for the year of 2017 that are gunning for the blockbuster position, is anyone as excited for the Fullmetal Alchemist live action movie as I am? Slated for December of this year, Fullmetal looks to have received a hefty shooting budget if the teaser trailer was any indication.

The movie follows the Elric brothers, Alphonse and Edward, in the fictional country of Amestris. In this world based off the manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, steam power is king and alchemy is one of the most practiced sciences.

Youjo Senki CM Debuts on Japanese Television

With just a week away from the premiere of the anime based on Carlo Zen and Shinobu Shinotsuki’s gender-swapping military strategy light novel series Youjo Senki (published by Enterbrain of Kadokawa Corporation), this commercial aired on Japanese television. It was made available for worldwide viewing today on Kodakawa’s anime YouTube channel. The commercial gives details on the dates, times and stations Youjo will broadcast.

According to the Youjo Senki anime website the story follows the blond hair blue-eyed young girl Tanya Degrechaf in the unified calendar of 1923 during her final course at the Imperial Military Academy. She is engaged in training at the third patrol line of the Northern military district Norden battlefield as part of the unit’s work. Training, which is the first step towards a brilliant career as an aviation magician. It was supposed to have finished without any problems.

Visitors to Japan are being offered Smartphone toilet paper so that you may wipe your communication device and wipe yourself all in one visit to their facilities.
